    Although I have since heard many versions of Elisabetta, Gruberova's was the one I first heard that had me fall in love with the role and the opera. For years after I'd listened to her in this role often, so much so that I think she owned it.
    And it was almost a year after her death that I learnt of it only. I'm still in shock and grief. We have lost a lovely lady and a legendary artist. Rest in peace, Madame!

    Grand respect à MMe Gruberova, impressionné par sa technique et sa longévité, mais ce que l'on voit ici, notamment la scène finale est grotesque stylistiquement et théâtralement, avec des alanguissements, des détimbrages, des écarts de justesse à glacer le sang. C'est épouvantable, en toute sincérité.

      philippe clément y étiez vous ? Sûrement pas, car pour y être allé, je peux vous dire que cette captation « sauvage » ne rend pas du tout justice à l’ensemble de la production qui était d’un excellent niveau. Et Grubie a été magistrale, bien que sortant d’une méchante grippe qui lui avait fait annuler des dates à peine 3 semaines avant Munich.

    What can I say, fans are fans and they have to love their star under all circumstances, but from an objective point the voice has gone and her acting is as if she thinks she's in a silent movie. She should have had her stage farewell at least ten years ago!

    • @brunopicaude3092
      @brunopicaude3092 4 роки тому +1

      You forget one thing. It was reproached to the the first actors in cinema to act as if there were on stage; the near presence of the camera couldn't support those opened eyes and mouths and so on. But here, we are on a theater stage and a great part the public seats twenty or thirty meters far from the singers. Of course, the spectacle is filmed but the artists play first for the public in theatre.

    • @tarejso5632
      @tarejso5632 3 роки тому

      But that is the brilliance of Edita. In the silent era, actors did not need words. They had to use their entire body and face to express everything. In many ways, they were better than today's actors. But everything is explained in the oscar-nominated movie Sunset Boulevard from 1950. I bet Gloria Swonsen would be very proud of Edita's acting. Edita was one of the best opera singers-actress. She could act, act.
