I am Lakota/eastern Cherokee. I am currently in Washington State among the Yakama. I live near their Rez. They are a gracious tribe. I sweat, powwow and hold ceremony with them.

A Local story in my area was that some Oklahoma Cherokees would come and camp out in the woods behind our local dairy queen in the 60s and 70s and would eventually split up in all different ways. One story told by a local is that a small group of them asked for him to take them to a area called "Mable Hill" they would then pull out a Map on some old deer pelt and it led them to some buried gold, the man was even given some gold for his troubles
Gold veins if in fact contain gold I’d heard that would of made a surface environment in habitable for any fungus and many bacteria. Not sure if it’s a fact or not just thought it was interesting.
Very brave. Are you sure they’re from native Cherokee? Gold only meant trade to them. What about slaves ? I have read about the creative ways they would hide to escape, and there were many. However, evidence of Native American like pieces of pottery , tools or even communication on the inside walls. I imagine you’ve researched this because you are still intrigued. I get that! I love exploring the forest here in Georgia. I have found interest along the way. Tools, arrowheads, even veins of gold within white Quartz. Not long ago a 6 yr old found a Clovis arrowhead here in the upper Piedmont region, while playing in a creek (large tributary leading to Lake Sydney Lanier, eventually)along the waya good 3” . It was sent to UGA for some research. Turns out it was a Clovis spear head made by indigenous people over 5,000 yrs ago… never know! Have fun!
The mouth of the third cave looks familiar to me. There are a set of caves similar to these in the hills above Dahlonega Ga. Are these the same caves??
I pulled up some information on Google Search that said during the early Nineteen Twenties the State of Georgia sent thought out state geologists, prospectors, anyone else with experience and knowledge to survey for elements, minerals and any other natural resources. There was two old mines/caves between Canton and Ball Ground that ran close to and under 575. I would think the Hwy crews surveying, clearing, bridge builders and other contractors working on 575 would collapse them.
You'd never catch me going into caves without a guide and those are walk in ones. Ever see that film The Descent. That's what this reminded me of without the hungry humanoid underground dwellers. Plus I've seen some documentaries on cave exploration and it just brought out my inner claustrophobia. I'll watch and even then I get nervous.
All due respect to "Old Hickory" the Trail of Tears was a humanitarian crime of epic proportions. The saddest thing about it is that was only ONE heinous act against the indigenous people. IT makes me feel ashamed to be counted among the oppressors.
I swear the creak shown at the start of the video looks like the headwaters of Armuchee creek . Northern Floyd county maybe. I was born in Rome, Ga. Been a while since I was back but all of the scenery brought back some heavy nostalgia.
Maaaan, the stuff yall did to my ancestors just pisses me off! Although yall couldn't remove all of us, it still upsets me! What also pisses me off is that yall still are telling lies about who these people were, and are today, especially since yall done reclassified us so many times, which now the term would be African American, knowing damn well we aren't no damn Africans. It's ok tho, bcuz the truth is being unveiled every single day, and my people are waking up slowly by surely! Alot of my people never lost their their history, while alot of us did lose our history. It's ok though, in due time, things will change for the better!
