haha, you are a very funny guy! I love the educational questions you ask the audience, it makes it feel like I am participating in an sensory de-sensitization course for neuro-divergent man-children, which I admittedly find myself to be.
I've been considering buying some 3rd ed spacemarines and painting them as crimson fists, the old codex with the crimson fists surrounded with a guy raising a powerfist in the air was so metal.
One thing that always strikes me pleasantly about OldHammer 40k art is the influence of Ralph Bakshi in some of the work. Lanky, flared-legged, the exaggerated droop to the Mk6 helmets and weapons. 8:08 Very "Wizards" feel to that one.
The 'A' symbol looks to be the anarchy symbol, which was around a lot in the 80's. The spiky mad max cars I used to draw were always covered in them :)
They may have revisited the giant spider in the horus heresy novels. In Horus Rising, the 16th and 3rd legions response to a 9th legions distress call and find a planet they name Murder populated by giant spider like Xenos they call Megarchnids.
The car on the right has Russian cyrllic lettering: Tse Be Yu - it's been 32 years since I last studied Russian, so I'm afraid I can't venture any guesses as to what the word might be in full (though, as with The Beatles semaphore shenanigans on the Help! album cover - it's probably meaningless)
3:30 I think he's been webbed by a web-gun, the numero uno Wh40k non-lethal weapon (and being Wh40k, it still can kill you). Heavy Webbers existed which could even immobilise vehicles. Tanglefoot grenades IIRC actually generated some sort of reverse-gravity field that made your feet flail about comically in the air before you faceplant into the ground.
I love these lookback videos on Rogue Trader era artwork, when 40k was truly grim and gritty and absolutely unrepentant about it! None of this uttesy-cutesy soy boy bs you see in 40k artwork today! Fun Fact: the robot we see @5:16 was made into a very limited-edition 3D resin model, a guy on the Oldhammer FB page presented it but was not forthcoming with who produced it and how one could obtain a copy of the figure model or its STL file. The guy who made was worried he'd get in trouble but the artist of said illustration is unknown and GW has long forgotten it by now. A shame, I really wanted that robot!
No, no! Rogue Trader is THE BEST edition! Second edition is second best. And, third edition is third best. None of the other editions are worth bothering about. I quite like the first artwork. It's been my 👁 fone lockscreen thru many an iterations of 👁 fone. I lament not getting the ball-and-chain robot as a fan sculpt when I had the chance😭. Spiders are horrifying🕷my man. I don't want a car I want the Cat Bus from "My Neighbor Totoro" which I could well have whilst playing thee hallowed Rogue Trader.
I disagree too. We are of course all different but I can't help but think social media is flooded with people who talk too fast and non stop. Just an endless stream of words without punctuation or room for thought and reflection.

if you call something a certain thing in britain it's almost guaranteed the rest of the world doesn't call it that... haha.
I always loved this "older" style of art that used to be displayed for 40k. Thank you for sharing!
"i use marigolds when I'm stripping...paint"
I almost had a haunting mental image when you said that
I use them for both!
@@SnakeWorksStudio so that's why you named the channel "SnakeWorks"

You are very kind! I love hearing what you guys think of this stuff. You never can be sure what a lot of it is.
@@SnakeWorksStudio Hey, no worries mate! Frankly, I have no clue about more or less a lot of what is might perhaps be generally!

The 'A' icon is simply 'anarchy'.

I've never seen that Wizards movie, I also couldn't acme it through his lord of the rings either. it was really weird!

8.88k subscribers at time of comment,
the Mentor Legion is designated chapter number 888,
perhaps it is an omen.
There were a lot a salacious rumours about Push-Pops and the local girl's school going round when I was a kid!! 😂
Clem from the crown of command has done some superb crimson fists rogue trader style, on 30k beakies.
I shall look those up! Thanks!
Last guy is an imperial landscaper, its obviously a hedge trimmer. 😂
I might have to get one of those!
Pushpops were such a menace in Sydney Australia that our local councils started banning the sales due to the rubbish everywhere
Nasty plastic tubes

That "One day" is gonna be years if your Desert Blonde is as slow growing as ours.
She is very slow growing!
If I could make a suggestion, ask less questions to the viewers about stuff. Otherwise I love these.

The large A is the symbol for anarchy.
Is it an 80’s thing?
@SnakeWorksStudio
It was largely an 80s thing, but you can still find the symbol in the 70s and 90s .
Wait are you seriously asking if the anarchy symbol is an 80’s thing? When were you born?
push a push pop save it for later.
Not 40k but 30k, Delvarus of the World Eaters uses a Meteor Hammer in the Fighting pits on the conqueror source Sigismund the Eternal Crusader novel.

You speak so slowly, 1.25x speed actually sounds like a normal human being

Being _a normal human being_ isn't exactly a compliment to begin with - and in addition we are talking about 40K here at that..
