I am waiting on my sky burst metallic to come in! I plan on modding this thing out. I have some birch plywood 1/8" thick with some super defined grain that I am going to stain black, pull back the black stain a bit, and then go over with some phthalo blue to make the grain pop and make a pickguard with that. Then I am buying Lace Sensor pups with chrome burner covers, which I see an opportunity for uniqueness with because I can mix a hot gold and a purple in the bridge and middle (respectively) to hopefully make something that stands out sonically (if that combo ends up sounding good, that is. I am kind of going for some heavy crunch with some major 60s inspiration). I'd love to hear what you guys think about these ideas, even if you hate em!
lee got all the switching wrong for the jag, but it is a bit odd. hard to find info on it online. but the series parallel is not between pickups, it’s for each individual pickup.
I really like what squier have done with these. They're a set of really flexible guitars. Particularly the strats, and the pickup configuration. Ok the twin humbucker one is just PRS/Ibanez switching, but that's incredibly useful, it's a twin humbucker guitar that has the strat betweens. And the one that makes a humbucker out of the middle and bridge pickups: why has it taken so long to see this on a mass production guitar? I've been building pickups with two stratlike coils with alnico rods on a humbucker backplate for a few years, mostly inspired by the pickups in the brutal shred machines that were the Maverick X1 if anyone remembers them? But they had a simple gibson-like switch and the split capability of the pickups went unused, particularly as the control cavities were too small for an extra switch, and the sideways knobs prohibited a push/pull or push/push on the volume or tone. Two sligtly overwound strat coils takes you into dimarzio evolution territory. Not super-dark like a JB or 498T but articulate and tight. But keeping the finger of spacing finder have done here drops the mutual induction so the single coil sounds still sound like sinle coils. And they made it look great. It's a shame the single coils they used here missed out on quality control, note where lee finds at least one of them has gone microphonic, and that's never helpful on a guitar that's going to encounter high gain.

The fretwork on that guitar is really good, among other things. I don't NEED another guitar, but these new Contemporary guitars intrigue me. Actually, I do "need" a 12-string, but that's another story.
Very enjoyable. Danish Pete and the Captain are becoming my favorite duo on UA-cam. Kudos to Squire for their new offerings. I will have to wait for the lefty offerings.
About a year and a half ago I was seriously contemplating on buying the classic vibe strat until I watched this video. Fender had a Black Friday sale so I pulled the trigger on a Telecaster Contemporary RH. THE NECK IS LIKE BUTTER! the only negative so far about this guitar is the cheap dime pots it comes with. @@CFox.7 I live is Southern California but, I don’t really ever see these in any of the local gigs. It's the Clapton technique. The hand doesn't touch the neck hardly if at all, just the finger tip on the string. Comes from the bicep, bouncing the entire forearm up and down. Takes practice, use your ear as a guide, vibrato is sculpted from the ear of the player.

I am an airline pilot on 21 days hotel isolation, been smashing your vids. The longer the show the better.
With the Anderson’s videos it’s time to go Denzel from Flight on that hotel room with intermittent visits by John Goodman of course.
I spent the 2nd quarter of 2020 alone in a house i didn't own in a city I don't like with no one for friends but guitar YTers like Lee and Pete. Knowing that almost every day there would be a cool new jam to listen to helped a LOT.
Here's hoping the whole thing is a bad memory soon.
Honestly if this was a Fender, These would be sold out now< and i would be buying it too >
Amazing Guitar
From the way the Dane plays the orange hard tail you can say he's liking it a lot...
Should I get the Contemporary Telecaster or a J Mascis Jazzmaster? I like the sound of both but I want the best possible build quality.
Squier's kicking arse and the captains playing !
Thank you for the review. Was interested in that new tele... Didn't know about the jag though?
Absolutely sold me on the Strat Special. Fender/Squier have converted me with their Contemporary line.
WOW what a jam!!! totally awesome!!! Anderton just gets better every day you guys play. Never owned a squire. Gibsons, Fenders and others but these sounded great! Excellent intro!
Awesome! This was the first hands on video I’ve seen for the 21. And that roasted neck! 🤤
I want to get a Stratocaster, and switch the two end pickups for Seymour Duncan Hot Rails, so I have a massive QUAD-rail humbucker.
The sound you get for the money is exceptional.
I've been eyeing that Contemporary Strat Special since it was announced, but now I think I want a Jag too...
These new squiers just incredibly good
by 35:20 i wish i had someone to jam with during lockdowns 😢, by 36:50 i say i hope you recorded the channels separated to mix this properly cause it sounds like a track 👌😎
I've got a crazy amount of guitars, most of them American Fenders, but I also have a Squier HSS Contemporary Strat that I bought when they came out (metallic blue with matching headstock) and it is an excellent playing and sounding guitar.
Man What a treat watching you enjoying yourself ! Great vid as always! Merci beaucoup from France
Nothing an upgrade can’t handle. This one’s a keeper for sure.
Just been told by another retailer which I preordered with in Jan, that now these won't arrive until July! Is that the same with you guys? Are any available before then?
I bought a Classic Vibe 70s Strat last August for 350 bucks and it's the most amount of guitar I ever got for that price.
I'm not a fan of that weird placement of the middle pickup, but god does that Jaguar look tasty
Idk why this line isn’t more popular. The guitars and the features are all really nice and the playability leaves nothing to be desired. Really happy with my contemporary hard tail strat.
I dont know where you're living but theyre popular AF where I am. Only recently theyre overstocked on certain colours in the Strat range but the Teles selling and holding value.
@@CFox.7 I live is Southern California but, I don’t really ever see these in any of the local gigs. People ask me what it is usually because of the pickup layout but, there usually seem to be quite a bit of these on sale around my area (the strats mainly). Maybe the teles are more popular I am not sure but, at least I haven’t seen one in the wild.
I see Ibanez AZES, Schecter Nick Johnston strats, PRS Silver Sky SEs, and fender player series all over the place as a comparison. 🤷🏽♂️
I already have the telecaster in white. I am just debating on which model to get next, hh fr or the special.
One of your best ever! Great playing, awesome guitar lineup.
3:16 Pete 'A Fat D' 😂🤣😂 Oh Pete, your faux pa's are exquisite!
Edit : 'Humbugger' too, the classic!
their eyes when they said "3 way or 5 way?" 😂
I'd like to watch this over and over again, i like your jammin on the intro! thanks for this wonderful reviews!
Are these better than the Classic Vibe series?
I know I keep saying this too but Cap - please do us a cheeky lesson on your vibrato technique, honestly, you've really got it mastered!
It's the Clapton technique.
The hand doesn't touch the neck hardly if at all, just the finger tip on the string. Comes from the bicep, bouncing the entire forearm up and down. Takes practice, use your ear as a guide, vibrato is sculpted from the ear of the player.
