Brendan Fraser and Sadie Sink delivered such great performances in this. This proves the fact that they deserve more recognition.
Sink wasn’t close to Fraser in this IMO
A much better portrayal of spurned daughter overall for me was Evan Rachel Wood in “The Wrestler”

No, I think the way it portrays being overweight is really on the nose, exaggerated, and gross.
Eh. I like the performance, but can think of several other movies with just as great of a performance, released the same year.
@@md12962who is better then Fraser then? Farrell is good, but he didn’t have the range in the Banshees, Austin Butler did pretty good as well, but nothing special. Nighy and Mescal aren’t bad aswell but just not in the same range as Fraser and the rest. Fraser is better then everyone this year, its not even close for me
@@charlesmiv3842how is it exaggerated? If the story tells him to be that, he does that. That is his job. The exaggeration comes from the sad story the movie had. The gross things were just in the script

It's a sign we're getting old when the people who would you had a crush when you were a teenager are now parents in movies.
I still cannot get over how good this film was.
This was Brendan's movie but the whole cast was great across the board. I really felt Ellie's pain being abandoned by her father at such a young age and never hearing from him for years. Sadie made a character who turned cold and resentful over the family falling apart work so well.
People have been going on about Brendan Fraser's acting and how brilliant he was, and I absolutely agree that it was a great performance. However, I think that all of the performances in this film are being drowned by he attention that Brendan Fraser's performance has been getting. Attention should also be given to Hong Chau, Sadie Sink and Samantha Morton for they're equally brilliant performances in the film. Hong Chau was already snubbed for her role in Downsizing, but she easily deserves at least a supporting nomination here, as does Samantha Morton. And Sadie Sink should be nominated for best actor in her category as well. I think that everyone in this film needs to be recognized.

@@ndhickson3599 Don't assume that I forgot; I didn't forget. I just don't believe that his performance was comparable to everyone else in the cast. He was okay and being "okay" is why he wasn't nominated for anything while his peers were. I cited the other people because their performances were extraordinary. This is not a knock on him, it's just the way it is. He was a good in other stuff, like Iron Man and Jurassic Park. Besides, he has years to develop his craft and win awards; look at Ke Huy Quan.

This film was absolutely amazing and shown that actors have great comebacks specially from Brendan’s experience in the film industry it was awful I’m so glad he is back and better than ever.

I don’t even watch movies like these… but with A24 and the director behind it, I had no choice excellent movie. Everyone deserved a Grammy including whoever did the scene pacing. The pacing was very realistic and that square shot added to it. I rewatched the directors movies after this.

I really like Sadie Sink, she is a very talented actress. The only problem I have (not with her, of course) is that she kinda plays the same character over and over. She is always the sassy unconventional kid that speaks her mind. I'd like to see how she performs in a different role.
