Great tutorial Kyle! I purchased TSplines short of a year of it being snatched up by (you know who) and had the sickest feeling of being ripped off! I truly appreciate the McNeel team for developing this utility for v7 as well.
Nice to see a video from you again, Kyle. I missed the paper dolls for sure. Tsplines for Rhino had some more really useful features than sub d in Rhino 7, but it seems like Rhino will catch up and hopefully surpass what they had before. See ya in the next one!
I’m hoping so, remember this is just v1 of subd..now that they are here to stay they will continue to grow and develop. Pls hit our forum and let us know how it’s working for you and what you need for it to be better!
Thanks Kyle, total deja vu moment there to one of your early Tsplines videos. Looks like SubD in Rhino is getting very close to a usable replacement to Tsplines, thanks McNeel for the work going into this.
Nice video bud coming from a Gemvision Matrix background venturing into pure Rhino is a little daunting for people like myself. Gemvision have spoilt us over years automating tasks and giving us pretty buttons to press. I keep promising to try learn pure Rhino maybe I should get on with it now I'm in lockdown for the foreseeable!
I have some questions at 20:54. The subdivision surface of the fingernail cannot be extruded by holding alt. In polar mode, parts of the surface of other fingers and palms will break when extruding
alt breaks off a face and copies it. Ctrl (pc) or CMD (mac) are the extruders in rhino 7. In Rhino 8, it's easier to use the extrude dot on the gumball handle
Hi! I have a same problem with someone who commented below. I can't grab and extrude one side of the subd face although I hit sft +ctrl. When I put PointsOn first and do that, the only thing showing up is right click of mouse(showing lists of commands..)
Great tutorial many thx ! Quick question : how do you get to click on the Axis plane indicator to grab the point and move it ? I'm running Rhino WIP 7 on mac and it doesnt work the same...
pick a piece of geometry 1st, I use ctrl+shift to subobject select verts, edges, or faces. Gumball will appear (if enabled ) and you can then move the selected geometry.
Hi Kyle, Awesome like always. I've been struggling with the ''reflect'' option and I finally made it. btw, my wrist (upper and lower part) gets separated when I stretch the edges. Appreciate it if you can help me with that . Thanks again!
Hi Kyle thanks so much for this video! For some reason when I run reflect it kept auto updating after I modified the points, anywhere I can turn it off? THANK YOU!
hello- I am using Work In Progress (7.0.20154.14355, 6/2/2020), and I do not see the SubD Toolbar in the Standard Toolbar Group, or in the full list of default toolbars. Also, I see you have a "New in V7" toolbar; I can only see a "New in V6" toolbar. Are these 2 toolbars available in the standard WIP? If yes, where can I find them?
Thanks Kyle!! You opened up a whole new world for me!

you'll notice a theme developing as we release more videos ;-)
As you shift control click to select an edge you will need to hit and hold control afterwards to get the new surface.

Am I the only one who was blown away by the "extrude handle" usage on the gumball?!
so many workflow detail improvements for v7- glad you like them!

Thanks a lot. My problem was just solved in 13 minutes of waiting and watching your scissor video! Awesome
Great video. Would love to see it done with the Mac version.
Works the same on the mac!
Hi Kyle thanks so much for this video! For some reason when I run reflect it kept auto updating after I modified the points, anywhere I can turn it off? THANK YOU!
Right click on reflect icon then the model to turn reflect off.
I can’t get shift + control click to select an edge? I’m on a mac. Help please?

run the toolbarreset command
Proibably a dummy question: all your faces have 4 corners. Is this a prerequisite for SubD architecture, or there could be some variations?
quads are desirable, but rhino subd will happily work with ngons or non quad faces
@@Rhinoceros3d Understand. Thank you a lot for the great tutorial!
Thanks !!....but .... What is ""FF Hotkey"" ?
an alias I made for using the face selection filter. command is selectionfilterfaces
