Brings back memories from 17 years ago. I camped at Barney Lake, the one just before Duck Pass. A massive rock slide woke us up in the middle of the night. We were in no danger but it still scared the heck out of us!
Thank you! Going to be including more pictures of my hikes moving forward…photography is what originally got my outdoors and into hiking / backpacking :)
Great inspiration for the upcoming 2024 season. I'll be doing 2 short backpacking trips to Kearsarge Pass and Chocolate Lakes area thanks to your videos. Was all set last year when Hurricane Hilary moved in. Luckily, I was still at my disbursed car camping base so did not get caught up in the passes. I can not tell you enough how thankful I am that you do not put music to your backpacking videos. Looking forward to the new season. Thanks!
Wow, a Wolf at the start?!...that must be a rare sight surely?. Anyway wishing you a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!. Great video/trip to end 2023, I could feel that cold wind from here, made my eyes water too!. Thanks for all the videos last year, love hiking/camping vicariously through you!. Fantastic pictures at the end again👍. Good health, happiness and safe travels for you and your family for 2024.
Great video. I’m envious. That tree probably survived 20,000 night and countless storms so probably not gonna fall on you 😮 You have the best videos. I got a Garmin Fenix 7 this summer. Is that what you’re wearing?? I’m happy with mine. I’ve already moved on to alpine snow skiing but maybe a day hike with snow shoes in Tahoe 🤷🏽♂️ Waiting for your next video. Happy Trails 🎉 🐉
Haha I thought that tree had my number. Did not get a GPS yet…my new iPhone had an sos feature so may not get one after all. Do any winter camping in Tahoe?
I went out once in Plumas Eureka State park. Snow shoes, backpack and all. Only an hours hike from my truck. Fresh snow, clear sky, frozen lake. I bailed out after dark with temperatures dropping into the teens. My truck has a camper shell and inflatable mattress and a 5000 btu diesel heater. 😆 it was still an awesome experience.
There are places where it can be difficult to get a 3-man tent setup, especially in busy areas. But the fact that the UL 3-person tents are so light and roomy, makes them a compelling option, even for one person.
Not really - the footprint itself is fairly small in my opinion. Sometimes when camping on sloped terrain where there are minimal camp spots I wish I had a smaller tent footprint, but for the majority of my camping it makes out well. I’m actually looking to lighten my pack this year and get the Gossamer Gear “the one” tent - really small footprint for those tight camp spots!
Well, this was another great video, however, it forced me to watch multiple ads all the way through with no option to skip after a few seconds as usual. Is this a new UA-cam requirement that we must tolerate, or did you turn on non-skippable ads? I literally had to watch 15 minutes worth of ads just to watch your full video. This is the first time it's ever happened.
@@kimrobb1965I tried watching it again just now and there was only one ad and it let me skip it right away. Being able to watch the whole video without disruptions is so much better.
That’s very strange and sorry you had to sit through so many ads. I do not have non shippable adds enabled - this is something UA-cam apparently determines. I sometimes have this same issue when watching other videos and it’s very annoying!

Wow!! That would definitely wake me up!
I know the feeling, wondering if a limb will fall. Glad you got through it ok, beautiful video and pictures at the end

So much to see in the Sierra Nevada mountains. My favorite mountain range!

Thank you so much! Hope you’re able to enjoy both of your upcoming trips - those are fantastic trips!!
Gonna try that one in Oct this year!
Nice one Scotty!
Thank you!!
😂really loved this one sitting on my couch . I was thinking my living room was cold at 62 before I started watching !

A coyote :) Thank you so much - happy new year to you as well! Many more videos in the pipeline for 2024. Happy trails!!
Got to have the ear plugs for those super windy nights.
I definitely need to pick some up!
👍👍😊😊👌👌❤❤

Another great vid. Thanks.
I just noticed you altered your channel name. Good marketing?
Thank you! Yep…not sure I’ll stick with it!
Do you find that you have a harder time with finding a camp site with a 3-person tent?
There are places where it can be difficult to get a 3-man tent setup, especially in busy areas. But the fact that the UL 3-person tents are so light and roomy, makes them a compelling option, even for one person.

I know that camping spot.
Was there really no snow at the beginning of December?
No snow yet!

I just watched the whole thing, and there was only two ads that were five seconds long

I pay for premium UA-cam and highly recommended it. No commercials at all! I’m not sure if influencers get paid still for each view, I’d hope so.
the links to amazon are not working :(
Ah thank you for letting me know. I need to create a lighter pack page with links as UA-cam never works ;)
There may well be a parallel universe where you were crushed by that tree.
😂 Always thinking about it when its windy in the mountains and I’m near trees!
