If they keep putting 4 cylinder, twin-turbos into trucks 🛻 😂😂😂
Scotty I am thinking on buying an old Avalon 2001 with 159k miles or a 2008 with 180k for around the same price which one should I buy?
well i drive a 1998 suburban with a V-8 that has 400,000 miles on it. still gets 16 mpg, runs great. would not sell it.
And.... no car payment, I's guess!
Those are going up in value. Keep it and you might be getting big money for those in 20 yrs.
@@rebeltvr6046 yeah if it’s not all rotted out by then
Smart move! Your suburban now qualifies as an antique. They will only increase in
value as they get older.
16mpg...oof.
Scotty calls large groups of people stupid and he just doesn't care😂 I love it.
especially if he's not wrong
I call them SHEEPLE and I don't care either! Scotty is a KINDRED spirit. Very practical and honest....traits SO LACKING nowadays.
I mean if they’re stupid…
Most people are stupid, from an intelligent perspective. That's just pure logic. If you're ABOVE AVERAGE then most people are UNDER that. 💯
He’s not wrong 🙌
I have a 2004 Expedition with the 5.4L, it has 231,000 miles on it, and is going strong. Bought it new, way back when, and it averages 15 mpg in mixed driving. It has been a wonderful vehicle!
I've had a 2010 Lincoln Navigator L going on 10 years, been a great vehicle and has 365k on it.
Got an 01 Pathfinder 6yrs ago with 206,000 for $1,200. 6yrs later I have 226,000, and still runs like new.. Made in Japan ..
6 years on 20000 miles ??
Scotty loves those Pathfinders.
so you put 20,000 over 6 yrs on it.ok most of us will put that on in a year! but $1200 is good!
20k miles in 6 years is a lie
@@Jussomebread I don't know that he maybe retired and if so lots don't go very far!
A 5.4……. Oh boy, cam phasers?
I thought the 5.4 were ones to stay away from. 4.6l is better???
Scotty must be trolling, or loosing it. Unless it’s the old 5.4
The 3 valves usually have problems if you're not meticulous on maintenance, the 2 valves are the reliable ones.
4.6 has always been good from what I've heard.
Yep but navigator didn’t have 4.6.
I agree with you
My dad has this and I can tell you, this thing moves QUICK.
Get the 5,0 V8 it gets 16 avrg 21 on hgy last to 300,000 +
I have a 2015 F150 crew cab 4wd with eco boost v6 and 196,000 miles on it!! Original engine and trany. Only had an issue with mass air flow sensor. I am religious about changing the oil and 90% of my driving is highway, between Tennessee and OH. I get 17 city and almost 20 mpg highway. I also tow with it.
I love Lincolns. They're solidly built and feel so much nicer than their Ford counterparts. Best part is that their value drops like rocks, so you end up buying a used car well worth it's price just because demand is low
The lincoln aviator is the Explorer equivalen and has exactly the same issues and is extremely unreliable
I have a 2022 Lincoln Corsair.. rides like a dream.. and so FAR haven't had any problems with it.. of course, it only has 9000 miles on it LOL!
@@Nunofurdambiznez what!?! 9000!?! there’s no way that can be right!
@@JoseDiaz-qw7mg Lincoln should have stuck to sedans... The MKZ and Towncar were both amazing and reliable, and the Continental afaik is the same. Why they discontinued them for Chinese crap like the 2024 navigator...idk
@@TheLongDonbecause the navigators are the best selling suvs ford makes.
It appears (on average) to be settled science that the new tech used reduces the life and reliability of the engines. Honest question: Are we doing things "greener" if we have to buy 2 cars instead of 1 over time?
I love that lincoln version its really classy
Old school always the best
We have a 1988 Chevy Silverado with almost a million miles on it.
There's a 88 suburban in my yard, I would love to get it running
So I'm guessing that he has had it for about 2 years. $4500 purchase, $500 for taxes and tags, $1500 for the radiator replacement equals $6500. Divided by 48 months is a car payment of $136 per month (not including gasoline.) Seems like a pretty good deal so far.
WhyTF is it $2000 for taxes and tags?
Where do you live where it's $2000 for taxes and tags? In Indiana, my old Lexus is $90 for tags annually.
@HamburgerHelperDeath Michigan has a 6% sales tax, and license tags run about $125 annually. It should have been $500. Too many zeros in my purchase price when calculating initial taxes.
$1500 for a radiator replacement? Highway robbery. DIY, $200. My local mechanic....$375.00.
Nice find if isn't all rotted out underneath - frame, cross-members, and metal hoses.
I have my 2007 Explorer. 4.6 litre V8. Still going.
Great engine.
2007 Lincoln Navigator.
Scotty always tell the older cars last longer. even the unreliable automatics were better than today.
The older Ford V8 engines will last, they should have kept the V8 and the Town Car and the crown vic
We need to get Scotty an ARRI camera or similar.. he deserves film like quality 😎🙌💯
Quality used cars is the best way to go!
I paid five thousand for a used Toyota van. I had it for 12 years with no big problems. I think that I got my money’s worth.
Nice! What year, and how much mileage on your toyota van? and what kind of maintenance did you do? I have a 2019 toyota van and I also hope to drive it for a long time.
You certainly did, may I ask what year it was
@@burdman5620 👍2000 with 205 thousand.
I buy nothing but old Toyota Sienna 1998-2002. I love them and just can't seem to shake the throwback to basics. I have bought them between 1000-2500 bucks and run them into the ground and give them away. Right now I have one with 190k miles.
@chriscornelius2518 d@mn that's good I'm definitely gonna be on the lookout for them. I'll come get that one you got when you decide to give it away again 🤣
I’ve never seen Scotty dressed any other way! Always a Jean jacket with a hoodie underneath 😂. I wonder what he wears in the middle of the summer when it’s 90 degrees outside.
Its probably the same he just acclimate to the heat
Me too !!!😄😄😄
2020 ford explorer(also family vehicle), got it brand new. Has 56k miles on it, and it’ll be paid off next year. Wondering if I should keep it or what lol
Have a 4 cylinder Tacoma that's 11 years old now. Bought it in 2019. Zero issues so far.
Here's a choice:
1: a used vehicle at 15mpg 4k
2: the improved new one for 25mpg 80k
3: the cybertruck at no gasoline bills for 110k?
Which one makes the best financial sense?
You can buy a lot of fuel for $106k
We live in Alaska. What's a good place t[ fond these and rive them home. We ar÷ looking for an SUV like this. Can it get through The Yukon to Tok, AK without whining like a Karn over the Canadian Rockies? Fuel and insurance will be steep, but used auto prices up here will kill me faster. Any advice helps.
yeah I agree big heavy vehicles like that need a big brawny engine to get them going though some heavy vehicles can do pretty well with a larger V6 engine such as GM's classic 3.8 and 4.1 l V6s from the 80s-2000s granted there were V8s with less than 5 Ls used for ex the ford 4.6 & 4.9 L that were used in the Crown Victoria Mercury Grand Marquis Lincoln Town Car and Continental among others the navigator has been around nearly 30 yrs. now though there were some SUVs around before the 1990s such as the Ford Bronco Chevrolet Blazer etc. the Cadillac CT5 V for ex has a 182.4 Cubic in or 3.0 twin turbo V6 engine under hood granted those versions of the CT5 weigh between 3,974 LBs and 4,142 LBs depending on what transmission is ordered 6 Speed Manual 10 Speed Automatic and the Blackwing version sells about half and half around 9,000 of each in 2023 though GM doesn't announce their numbers monthly anymore instead opting for quarterly Cadillac currently has higher annual sales than Lincoln by almost double while for ex the Toyota Camry alone sells almost double the amount in the US than the Cadillac lineup combined did in 2023 and the top trim of the Camry costs roughly what a moderately optioned CT5 does in the mid 40K range when all things are considered no wonder in some countries its considered a luxury car
Not trying to be rude Scotty, and I love your videos, but can you use the stabilization mode on your camera. Thanks.
Scotty, wot I love best about you is the way you get right to the point! Gawd how I LOVE that.
I own a 2013 Ford Edge with 140000 miles, 3.5 v6 non turbo. It is the SEL so it has a lot of bells and whistles. The only problems I have had are: a/c door actuators, door latch on drivers side(even though the door is shut it shows the door ajar light. I just ran a wire to bypass the door sensor, they wanted $230 for the switch). And the brake switch under the brake pedal, the dealer wanted $350 to replace the brake switch assembly(it took $25 at O’Reileys for the brake switch. I change oil every 5000 miles with full synthetic oil and change my transmission fluid every 30000 miles. I also flush the radiator every three years. I just pray the water pump doesn’t fail.
If it was my vehicle, I'd take it in for a new water pump at the next coolant flush and do the timing chain while it's opened up. Probably 2 grand but sure beats a new engine or car payments.
@@kennetho5393 Timing chain? Why change that? A timing chain SHOULD NOT FAIL unless Ford Edge's have a history of that. Now a timing belt, that is totally different. I have a Toyota Camry with a timing chain that I won't worry about because TIMING CHAINS aren't supposed to break. I suppose if I had 400 to 500 thousand miles on the car and I really loved it, I could do that just because metal can stretch over time. But normally, no worries.
@@andysnyder4603I'm not completely familiar with the 3.5 V6, but I believe the internal water pump requires pulling the timing cover. Timing chains do stretch out over time so might as well take care of that while you are there. I could be wrong on all the above but that's how I'd do it and I wouldn't wait for the water pump to go. Get it done and you'll get to 300k if all else holds up
These Lincoln Navigator's are decent.
Some say Scotty became multi millionaire because he daily drove old Celica and Matrix.
I had an 2004 nav and ran great just the air suspension broke down like 3 times in years engine ran great
Every Lincoln ive ever driven drove like a dream
I have to agree.. I've had several over the past 2 decades.. each one an absolute DREAM to drive!
2006 Toyota sienna 194k miles original engine just reg maintenance starts up 0 below still sounds good when I accelerate fast
The venerable 5.4 hmm. Has it blown any spark plugs out yet?
It’s not just about being overweight Scotty, I’m 6ft tall if I don’t slouch and I have long legs most of these cars and SUVs are made for smaller people, mainly women.
Or Asians 😂
Couldn’t agree more on using oem sensors. I’ve tried using other brands and it always runs worse with the new ones than the old lol
How in the world could he find that for 4k? Amazing find
I drive an 03 Lincoln Aviator AWD.
Biggest job was the timing chain and its back on the road. Get 17-19 mpg and i love it still
Always wanted to buy a Navigator, paint it with green scales and change the name to Alligator! 🐊
😄😄😄👍👍👍
Pre-pandemic you could get one for $4000, not now though.
Can someone post a list of vehicles recommended… for this range & the years to try and find.
It looks more like a dumper truck😊😊
My Honda Odyssey with 250KM on original power train still run 20 MPG. Just replaced timing belt 2 times. I will intent to run until the timing belt break this time and junk it.
Why?
The belt lasts quite sometime haha seen a pilot (same engine)with nearly 250k with the original belt.
Yep my 1998 E350 5.4 working great never touched engine in 15 years I have it just change oil one manifold bolt broke but o don’t care was like that when I got it 15 years ago
Was that a transmission cooling line in the passenger seat?
Isn’t the 5.4 3 valve that’s in that suv known to have major cam phaser and timing issues?
That last comment, was that damn voice texting. Most people probably figured it out. But for those who are a little slow, it was supposed to say…… people love to trash the 5.4. They only have phaser problems, when people go forever without changing the oil
I own a 1985 s15 truck with 2.6 engine with a carb and no electronics.
The truck has 800,000 plus miles and still running strong. I would buy this navigator for that price. If you take care of the vehicle it will probably get another 100,000 plus more miles.
2.8L
2.8 not 2.6. It's a awesome engine. The truck floor is almost rusted out but it runs great.
Had a 1986 Z24 with the throttle body injection. Fun engine in that light car. It stood up to my lead foot. 👍🏽
Did he say the yr of that SUV? I must have missed it!
I love my 2020 Navigator. It gets 23 mpg on a trip.
What do you think of the 2011? $9900.
I have four late 90's GM OBS trucks, easy to work on and dependable.
Watch out for that 5.4 Triton three valve very defective engine from Ford if it's not the three valve version it's okay.
I got my 07 torrent 4 yrs ago for $500. Put ZERO dollars into it. Runs great.
Equinox, for 500 bucks👍
Ecoboost engines are really reliable, problem is with transmissions
Paid $1500 for lincoln town car with 90k miles...been driving it for years
A Lincoln Navigator 👨🏻✈️ sometimes you recommend non-Toyota brands.
😂
I've used CRO fuel treatment when I purchased a Toyota with 100k miles that hesitated. Cleaning the MAF Sensor cleared it up. Together it eliminated hesitation
5.4 has cam phaser/timing chain problems. This one is a stay away. Scotty is wrong on this one.
Im sure the way this vehicle looks
im sure the old owner probably replaced them
@@grimreaper1257nope, most shops replace the whole engine. It’s more then just a phaser issue
Scotty is wrong , there's a reason you don't see many of these .if I had to take a nap I'd take the better looking 2005ish with out variable valve timing
“ just get rid of the stupid thing and buy a Toyota”😂😂😂
Yeah scotty messed up

Scottu you really gotta stop telling people it's OK to just put 2 snow tires on. Try it and find out. You said you like yesting stuff.
Hope it's not a 3valve!
Ive been driving an 03 matrix since new and im still not a multimillionaire😢
Can’t afford the gas bill -
Scotty and people of the comment section what would be a good car to get for about 3-5k used and will be good for Minnesota winter weather but still reliable currently have a 2006 Toyota Corolla le that was passed down to me and it has 260k miles and soon In its old age a catastrophic failure will prob happen and it’s terrible in winter I’ve slid out a bunch of times and makes drives scary in winter
My '07 Corolla is running strong, my mechanic gave me the thumbs up to keep it. How about a Subaru?
@@noreenn6976 currently I have a 06 Corolla and it has 260k miles it was passed down to me and I’m 16 and I’m trying to find something to save up for and have a plan because if one day it has a catastrophic failure I need something to plan to get because that car is worth prob a grand atleast and fixing almost anything essential would be worth more then the car itself
@@noreenn6976 and I don’t mind getting a car that I may have to do some work on to get it going I like working on cars, there was a Audi A4 bt selling for 1k but the engine and timing was broken so I could buy a motor for like 3k with no miles and have a good as new car but the person never got back to me

Reed Timmer's Dominator 3's turbo broke down. It's a Ford. Looks like a tank. He should have brought it to you for repairs 😊
I wouldn't touch one of those navs with a 10 ft pole, transmissions are weak-ish and the 5.4 VCT is expensive to fix when the cam phasers go
Had a 2002 Silverado replaced Transmission 7 years ago due to accident. Then it didn't last 2000 miles went to Chevy got a remanufactured transmission and problem solved. Ran like new only replaced radiator at 19 years. Only three exhaust systems over the years all the rest original. Lived in the New York area with minor rust on running boards. Smacked up the driver's door and rear quarter panel. Insurance offered more than I could sell it for so a year in my eye i😢 bid farewell. Have 2021 Silverado so I know many years of good running coming to me
I found a 2011 ford ranger xlt supercab 4x4 has 119,000 mile and no rust for $11,000 is this good deal? How good is engine and trans in these? 207 hp 4L V6
I'm really getting tired of you calling me stupid, Scott 😊
No, you don‘t. 🙂🙂🙂
People loves the trash on five point fours. They last forever if you change the oil.

$105K for a Grand Cheroke L?????...hahahahaha...keep it.
Hello. My car runs well except every time that I go to the gas station to fill it up. It doesn’t wanna start. Takes four cranks. And after is fine. What could it be? Where’s SCOTTY when u need him
Starter... check your ground cable.... and when was the last time your car's engine had a tune up?
@@eskieman3948 thank you..
Had a tune up about a year ago. What’s weird is that after that it runs great till the next full up
Id say it might be a fuel pump or an electrical problem. If possible do a fuel pressure test right after you fill up and see if your getting any pressure
Mine did that and the valve that came from the carbon canister to the engine was stuck open. Everytime I filled it ( to the top of the tank...trying to get that last dollar in ) raw gas was being pumped through instead of the fumes. The car would want to stall out after filling to the top a few times and then it would clear up and run great after. The dealer told me to stop filling the tank after the pump shuts off. Over filling a tank can damage the valve and or the carbon canister. They replaced the valve and the problem went away.
@@kenmoats3654 it was what u said the valve from the carbon canister. Bought it new for $28.00 and booyahh. Not more faults at the gas stations when I fill up. Thank you and have a great day
I used to jock the 2005 Lincoln Navigator back in 2008.😂
lmfao 11mpg in the city. if u aint got money before, u def wont have it after
I'm not too crazy about the Lincoln Navigators. If it does have any problems, it will be expensive to fix.
The hvac system has plastic gears that break and start making popping noises. .

1st time I have seen one of Scottys videos with a customer car in that beautiful garage in Rhode Island.
Hi Scotty
What's your bottom dollar Will you take $3500 cash tonight at the xena car wash
I think I'm going to disagree here.... Every one of those I have driven aged very very poorly. The drivetrain may be ok, but the bodies are terrible
No way.
A Lincoln? Is scotty on crack right now? 😂 Where did the Toyota sequoia or 4runners go?
RWD here in the rust belt is gotta be scary in the snow.
Hey Scotty, what about the 5.4 L three valve!
Scotty, that's why I have a 03 Tahoe the modern plastic fantastic Tahoe
A used Prius would be a better deal. When gas gets to $10 you'll be p.o.ed at Scotty big time
If you only have $4,000 you probably shouldn't be buying a large SUV.
Thats about the price you get it from a private seller here in Alabama
So you go from a video talking about how the turbo v6 on that f150 is all you need to saying never buy a turbo v6 ford. What are you doing swapping opinions every video??
