      @@matt80_s definitely agree with that for the current games most likely. I'll be honest though, I think people would enjoy the game much more if they didn't use sources like JSP. Things are always better when you have to work for them. I actually loved the Gold auction house on Diablo 3. I thought that was a great way for them to make use of gold aside from repairs lol

    if the chase items are impactful, like deaths fathom or griffons eye, i'm fine with the loot system. if the chase items are micro upgrades or better rolls on the same item, it's gonna get old quick.

    • @WilliamAndrews0
      @WilliamAndrews0 Рік тому +2

      It depends on the way PvP is set up. In D2, the ultra rare items like griffon or DF are rarely used in PvP, but the rare items that do get used tend to be a lot more expensive. In that scenario, I completely agree with you. If, on the other hand, the chase items are best in slot for PvP as well as PvM, then it's going to be a problem. The game will probably focus a lot on PvP, as this is what people will stream and have competitions for and will give blizzard free marketing, so if they just have legendary/unique items as best in slot, it will end again with every player having the same build, which is something they wanted to avoid with that whole legendary essence concept. I personally don't care that much if the rarest item is just a small upgrade from the less rare alternative because that means that they aren't necessary to play the char to it's full capabilities. I'd be pissed if a 1:million drop is essential to my build or boosts my damage so much that it's either boring to play with or not fun at all to play without.

      @WilliamAndrews0 Рік тому +2

      @user-js8bp5dg8t I would really dislike that. It should be cosmetic at the most. Forcing people to play PvP to get items never ends well for the longevity of the game or the trade-economy. I really dislike PvP in diablo games, I just want to level and farm on my own or with some friends. If they had specific gear locked behind PvP, it would take away a lot of my enjoyment of the game.

    I hate to be this cynical, but this “review” basically told us that Diablo 4 is an ARPG. How is trading NOT figured out yet? Isn’t it theorized to be launching in less than 6 months? Are you kidding me? Shouldn’t they be in the polishing phase? Not still figuring out game systems. If they were confident in Diablo 4 then they’d put the game out there so we can see it, stop restricting all the info and let the people play the beta instead of just basically content creators. My guess is that Diablo 4 is average at best and they know it. Otherwise, why not talk about it at THIS point so close to launch. They want to hide that as long as possible to make as many people as they can buy it full priced at launch. That’s what you think when you present the game like they have.

    Gameplay... the numbers popping up all over the screen and "dodge"... lame, just lame, and the attack skills dont seem fun at all, the sole reason i picked characters or skills was they way we used them in D2 but, none of these characters look any good tbh.
    and the menus... jeez they're awful boring squares.
    trading, is just shocking, im glad drop rates are better than D2 because you can play a whole ladder season and still have crap items its my only gripe about D2R, and that sucked, but the whole game just feels like another D3 disaster, so i may as well play D2R, and not spend any money.

    Glad to hear that the action during gameplay is slowed down and not all these insane visuals to where you don't know what's happening on your computer screen. D2 did this well as far as pacing of a fight with the exception of boss mechanics being too simple. The clips that were shown about it being dark as well as the music makes me happy so far.
    Now I'm mostly worried about item bloat when it comes to sets and legendaries that D3 had to the point where rares and magic items didn't matter all too much it felt in the time I played. Legendaries need to be super limited (like grail limited for the really good ones) even more so than uniques. Power level on them also needs to not be super nuts for the people who acquire legos to the ones that don't have any. Hoping the runes are closer to D2 style but more balanced compared to the other items. Others have stated that it's nice to gamble or find a rare item that can be used for builds like 40MF fortuitous rings you can't find on other item types. Blizzard constantly falls into the trap of not separating pvp itemization and skills with pve. It's impossible to balance monsters with all these abilities and HPs to that of another player's abilities, items, and smaller HP pool.
    I don't want endless systems like paragon leveling, rifts, or all those Inferno levels. It's normal, nightmare, and hell. Divide areas, dungeons, etc of the map like that would be amazing. I'm super curious how farming is going to go with it being open world compared to resetting games or maps in D2.

      I honestly liked how D2 handled character progression. You could get maybe 90% of power out of your chosen build in a reasonable amount of time, faster if you had a good mf build to farm items. This allowed you to explore many different classes and builds, . In D3 they tried to archieve this with the seasonsystem which mostly forces you to start from zero every couple of months. Both has his prs and cons but all in all i do prefer the D2 way.

    • @MrHuntingClaw
      @MrHuntingClaw Рік тому

      Honestly, D2 did a buncha stuff right which D3 utterly failed in, first and foremost, a reasonable power ceiling for most of the content. You could play nearly anything in D2 and still manage to beat nightmare and potentially even hell. Sure, you may have required crazy bonkers builds to do uber Andariel and the like, but how many people actually ever did them anyway or even knew about them. D3 items compared to D2 items were too overloaded, oh you didn't have that one unique which boost your dmg by 4-20x your normal dmg? Guess you will not be able to farm this even harder difficulty which by the way is like some perpetual motion machine where if you get strong enough for it, ya won't be strong enough for the next difficulty above it, and this will go on FOREVER.
      One specific single item never had that number bloating in D2 simply by itself, that was only in D3, seeing some of the items in D4, it seems they may be number bloating here too, making anything subpar feel weak and worthless after the first few hours.

    My biggest concern is that even with Diablo 3, the initial impression was quite good, but it never went beyond the initial introduction to anything really worthwhile. The expansion fixed a few things, but they front loaded a lot of great stuff, and then it sort of petered off quickly into the mundane. I was hoping for more of a challenging and tactical experience mixed in with the action-oriented combat that it was advertising, and never really got it. It didn't help that they had some really bizarre ideas about looting and customization that ended up hurting player expression and engagement.
    The long term is where it always suffers, and it's something no reviewer ever gets a chance to really engage with, nor do they tend to go back and do a long term analysis, except for the dedicated. I started with Diablo 1, and D2 was a step up, with D3 being a few steps down, and it's expansion being a step and a half back up. My hope is that with the new designers in charge, the design philosophy has also changed. The big thing that kept people coming back to Diablo back in the day was it's addictive replayability, and I really hope they can create that for 4.

      2. It encourages devs to prioritise cosmetics as they are the paypig, rather than in-game, achievable item sets.
      3. It encourages devs to make the cosmetic items the most attractive, or players will just stick to what's achievable in game.

Wasn't a fan of it for WoW (which I'd argue is more egregious) or GW2, or how they're using it as an incentive to pre-order and buy the collector's edition (which doesn't even come with the game).

    Both in terms of difficulty and how limited (or absent) the character building choices are. I swear Blizzard must think their players are completely braindead and should not get any freedom of choice that might influence how strong their characters become.
    The skill tree is a joke. Pause at 7:55. That's the skill tree structure. You select Fireball, okay. See how the path branches between two (yes two) different abilities on your Fireball? Can't allow players an intricate skill tree with many options, branching paths and countless different ways to take. How they go with something as dumbed down as this, for the biggest ARPG IP in the world, given a *limitless* budget in the year 2022 (or 2023), is completely beyond me. I'm speechless.
    If this is what it is, people will be bored by this game within half a year.

    To me when a legendary drops in D2 your brain can’t really see it at first and for a millisec you kind of have to take a closer look. Is it golden text? IT IS! Oh shit! Is it a “swirling crystal”? Ah fuck it’s yellow xD
    A couple of hundreds of runs later* OMFG it is golden text this time!!!
    That’s so much more fun than a completely obvious legendary drop with a ridiculous flashy sound to it.

    There is some conflicting information here. In Rhykkers video he said that legendary essences or whatever they're called are NOT tradeable, but that trading will be based heavily on trading great Rare Items that you can then imbue with the Legendary affix that you already have.
    Also the way the developers said it in the last interview I saw, it is not that it's more work to respec than to start a new char, but just that it won't be possible to respec an endgame build daily because the cost is higher. So it's more like, if you want to respec a high level char, you have to expect that you will play that build for at least a couple of days -> week, before you can respec again. Obviously if you have a char and farm for 4 weeks endgame content, you should have enough resources to respec that char multiple times, they just wanted to stop the D3 version of "i'm doing bounties, click, doing rifts, click, doing GR150, click, going for set-dungeons challenge, click" and play 4 different builds on 1 char in the same hour.

    imo diablo4 has already failed before it began. same boring, lame seasonal play. Again making the same DRASTIC mistake diablo3 did with a limited beta. If you think about what the 8 month long diablo3 beta was lvl 1-13 only able to do story upto the skeleton king all for the sake of not spoiling a story written by an amateur writing at middle school level. They could have spent 8 months fixing the game that we ended up hating instead they restricted our play area to save the story and focused more on the stupid auction house then spent a year trying to fix a game which is still broken to this very day since the major flaw with the game is how your weapon is the singular most important thing in the game. And to fix this in the modern game its oh yea lets just boost the damage by THOUSANDS so you do TRILLIONS of damage to make up for having such a garbage foundation.
    I missing diablo1 where i gave a crap about my character. My character had a name, had history. I wasnt having to delete my character every 3 months. The fact they are taking renown reputation grind and putting it into their 3 month seasonal reset system is also disgusting. Rep grinding and renown in wow is hot garbage and they are adding it to diablo4.
    I do think the game looks great. While like you said the gameplay seems slower right now thats because of how stupid it got in diablo3. I hated the way diablo3 made you need to play a speedy twitchy gross feeling build. Also the fact that its already pay to win if winning is leveling faster season pass gives you an exp boost. The fact that diablo immortal showed them they have a bunch of whales they can try to milk so they made a $250 collectors edition? buy a box full of physical goods with none of the digital goods then have to buy the digital goods separate... im over blizz. I was on the fence with this game with how bad shadowlands was for a wow expansion. then diablo immortal dropped and that shattered any remaining hope I had for this company.
    Add to that here we are all these years later and diablo3 still hasnt undone nerfs that were made to spite the players. Traps were so cool when the game launched they would one shot everything. (they still do on console since console build was based off the launch build of diablo3) but the devs decided to give the finger to the fans like the game was so hard people would just kite monsters into the traps to 1 shot them..... so they made traps uselss. traps cant even 1 shot monsters on normal. someone made a joke video about how to farm gold in diablo3. load into act3 open the lore chest in town loot the 100g then exit and restart. blizzard seriously thought this was an issue and nerfed those chests....... wtf

I'm not saying that you're a shill or anything, but there's a lot of optimism for a game that's a slightly improved Diablo 3 with a cash shop. Maybe that's just the state of gaming now, that even average titles are a big deal because so much crap comes out. What I know for sure is that Blizzard hasn't done a lot of good in such a long time, especially if you factor in that D2R wasn't even done by them, and it's hard to imagine them finding their way all of a sudden.

      @@justincampbell3132 Yeah I hate that with D2, I know people are licking D2's ass but let's be honest it have a lot of flaws with todays standard. Like no real end-game, sparse stash room, need for half inventory filled with potions and stupid charms. All that could have their own smaller belt or stash slot and most likely would in modern games. The stop motion of spells and such is not really that great either considering the flow Diablo 3 got with the rifts which was a nice thing in it's own way. And even though D2 have a lot of great and iconic sounds that are top notch a lot of the sounds are also crappy and makes no sense to what is happening on screen. Spells and skills GFX for some characters are a bit underwheling as well even if I do enjoy the less glow and sparks and so on that fly in overload in D3 even from arrows and melee heroes. The bigger skills still need to have some meat to them and they don't always in D2 which makes your pretty high leveled character still feel like a level 1. So a nicer progression of getting stronger and looking more badass with more and more great looking skills is a must to engage me these days. More blood, teeth and sweat flying from enemies when hit and less sparks and japanese inspired anime effects in my opinion.

    On the topic of trading, I remember an early discussion where it was mentioned that magics and rares to be valuable. So, being able to trade affixes makes sense. You can "build" a really good rare out of them. This takes in account a crafting discussion in the quartlilies as well. I like this. I hate in d3 that magic and rares suck after leveling. I like in D2R farming bases and having useful magic and rare items that you can use, even after completing all the acts and are farming higher content. You can do ubers and clone with these. You only need "end game gear" if you want to farm faster, which really means "farming p8 efficiently". Just a thought.

      I recall the same that the best items are going to be from a godly rolled rares and magics as a base, upgraded in quality, and having a legendary power imbued. Trading will likely revolve around trading good bases. Restricting trading ancients and beyond prevents people just making trading the best finished items and going from zero to hero without any effort. If this turns out to be true, it’ll make for healthy trading that requires understanding of what you want to make.
