I don't know what it is but there is something satisfying about watching a gimbal. What a great place to fly!

Yeah its pretty neat. I made one once using some spare stuff in the workshop there pretty cool.

Great spot but the weather rarely plays ball. When it does, this is the result :)
Don't you find interesting that "Even do must of the Auto Pilots on the market claim to be super sensitive" they can't control your servos to maintain the plane level in the same way that you gimball does??I mean, I have one of the best out there! I think that the processor on my MFD AP is a 80 Megahertz and it still do shake in harsh weather!! Never the less I insist you have a great and beautiful place to enjoy and fly... thanks for the replay.
yeah i'm running the MFD AP too. Think its too hard for them to keep the plane perfectly level but they do a half decent job
Perhaps the really sad thing is that Charles sold the company, and all Of/Or any chances to improve went down the drain, This autopilot have tons of features, and room for improvement, but the information is shady and incomplete at best! I mean if one would be capable to understand how each of the PID per axis work I think it will be perhaps the best in the market! BUT...because you know that there are two PID's per axis??? It took me almost 9 months to get to where I'm with my autopilot!!

If I'm honest, this is the best fixed wing gimbal fpv footage I've seen.

Great vid. The shot of the GoPro footage with the overlay of the gimbal was awesome.
You need to do a vid on the gimbal and how you set it up and power it. 👍🏻

I did mean to make a video about setup and demo of the gimbal in the last few weeks, just not got round to it yet. Will try do it soon

Thanks :) No I don't meet with this guy any more, he flies drones for a living and does many hours so he's lost interest in doing it as a hobby unfortunately.
For a few years I have been wondering if a gimbal was worth it, and i always decided against them because when people fly by themselves, the footage never looked very natural (in my opinion of course). But In formation flying, holy smokes it changes the game!! Your vid has seriously got me reconsidering the power of the gimbal. Fantastic work as always!
Cheers mate, really appreciate the feedback. Like yourself, I was always very undecided on gimbals on fixed wing... but eventually decided to give it ago and I'm happy with the results. I still throw fixed camera view in the mix so that you don't lose the feeling that its a fixed wing and not a gimbal multi rotor :)

I really doubt it would fit or work well on the Opterra Darren. They just don't have much space for gear or a suitable spot to mount it

The Pro has its cables go through a slip ring so you can continuously rotate the yaw where the Mini is mechanically limited.

Just when tracking another flying object like the opterra. For nornal flying looks great. Smooth and stable. is that a gimbal from a Phantom?

I loved the RunCam 1 Footage on the wing looking at the Gimbal. That Gimbal was sure working hard, yet gave some spot on stable footage on the GoPro. Which make/model Gimabal was it by the way?

Can that Opterra carry a good payload? The reason I asked is because I am interested in installing an autopilot module that will be used for 4G telemetry (Airstring and Pixhauk) I would also like to add other things and cameras as I get the extra money. Maybe a few solar cells mounted to help extend flight time if that isn't too much stuff..
The Opterra isn’t my plane, but my opinion of it is that it’s not designed to carry a large payload. I believe most fly with a max of 5,000mah on board. In this video they were using a tiny 2,200mah Lipo. To put it into perspective, the Skyhunter is carrying a 16,000mah Lipo and still has tons of spare room

I'm thinking about building another FPV Long range setup and have been trying to decide what aircraft to use ?
Sky Hunter Or,,,Opterra ?
I'm leaning toward the Opterra ,,I'm lazy and it seems like it could be a good FPV aircraft with less building and changing out the stock receiver ?
It also looks like it would land in grass a little easer ?

Hi Dan, if you want to built a long range FPV platform, between these two planes there is an easy winner by a long way, the Skyhunter. It can carry a much larger payload... 16a 4S is easy with loads of space left... you'd be pushing your luck to squeeze more than 5a in the Opterra. Plus in my opinion, the hunter will land on grass better too. Cheers.

what kind of flight time do you get with Opterra?
Not too sure to be honest, the guys were only using a 2200 3S for each flight and I think it was going for about 15mins.
Where did you get your Skyhunter from? Do you know any places in Europe?
Andres Moks not sure if you can buy them in Europe. I ordered mine from RMRC. Only took around a week to arrive
I got mine from onedrone.com but they are out of them.
