I have been using the mag lips for trout and agree they are great; haven't used any lyman. What we have used are the Berkley flicker shad. Sadly, Berkley stopped p[roducing their jointed one in chrome - it was our best fish getter. But jointed or not, Berkley makes a very good trolling lure. It appears you fish primarily eastside lakes - would you mind sharing the lake when you do a video? I am a west side fisher..
That was on Paulina. I have fished flicker shads and the jointed flicker shads, they are in my arsenal, but Lyman’s serve me much better. My biggest complaint with the Berkley stuff and the maglips, is that they don’t hold up well! I have Lyman’s that have caught hundreds of fish and they still look brand new.
@@Fishnmoreoutdoors I fish primarily Hagg lake. My comment was not intended to be argumentative; only to share what I ahve used. Fished today and it was slower than slow - 3 fish in the boat and two more hits, and minimal showing on the graph. I will look into lyman and try some - catching fish is the objective of the game. And Paulina bing a bit higher than the general area explains the snow! Thx for the response.
I didn’t view it as argumentative. I appreciate your insight, and agree that the jointed were better. I feel the same way about Rapalas, I think the jointed Rapalas out perform the standard. I do get frustrated with the quality of the finish especially in the maglips. I have nearly worn the finish off in a single day… a real bummer. Tight lines!
@@Fishnmoreoutdoors You should see my ugly perch maglip 2.5. Very little paint on it at all but the fish still seem to love it. I have a gold one with a black tip that has caught a lot of bows and the paint is still holding up.
Been a fan of maglips for awhile but new to Lyman plugs but have a few. Any suggestions? I removed the front treble and put a 2/0 rear siwash hook on to help... but haven't gotten anything on them so zero confidence thus far haha

I've picked up 3 different lyman plugs since watching your videos, all 2 inch I have a frog a bloody fry and a craw. wondering if you bait your plugs. I am after rainbows some any suggestions on colours? also have you tried Tomic plugs made on vancouver island, thanks like the vids.
I will thread a worm on the 2 and 3 inchers. Those are three of my favorite colors. I have fished the tomic plugs. I actually fished them before I knew Lyman’s existed. I now prefer the Lyman’s hands down. Better action, and quality. Tight lines!
Hello, in your experience what would you suggest for cutthroat’s?
The 2s, 3s, and 4s are great on cutthroat. Adjust the size of the lure to match the fish you are targeting. If there is potential for 20+inch fish go with 3 and 4 if below 20 2-3 inchers. Colors can vary a lot. I would probably start with some of the more natural looking colors like the Kokanee, lyman special, and branch out from there. The disco frog has been great, and the 4 inch bleeding frog. Tight lines.
What lakes do you Ice fish?
Last year the winter was so warm I only fished north and south twin. Hoping this year to hit diamond, and a few others. 🤞
