    Interesting, this system has some parallels with german messer fencing

    • @TaijiFencing
      @TaijiFencing  4 роки тому +6

      There are some Spanish fencing methods that also focus on maintaining defensive contact while simultaneously making the cut.
      Thanks for the input. I'll be sure to look into the German method you mentioned.

      @@TaijiFencing ua-cam.com/video/YvEJqZ2pw-Q/v-deo.html Here is a video that showcases the similarity quite well (in the german style, this fighting from sword contact is called "winden"). At full speed sparring, winden occurs less frequently than in slower drilling, but it is still present.

      @@TaijiFencing ua-cam.com/video/CnTXKWvhYg0/v-deo.html this is another system that reminds me of your style. Not to say that you copied from anyone obviously, but that it can be a good idea to train blade contact fencing.

    Some people say: ,,I would love to see sth. like HEMA in asian martial arts" and I say: Here you are my friends, here you are. Beautiful training culture and very beneficial approach to fencing - I won't say ,,complete", but I love that, also as I love Roland Warzecha interpretation of european sword and buckler training and dueling.

      Thanks for the comment! Swordsmanship is made up of many components, so you're right that Taiji Fencing isn't the only method one should practice. We only hope people can enjoy themselves while cultivating skill that can transition to other styles and combat.
      Thank you for the interest. I hope you can check out or Taiji Fencing 101 video series if you'd like to get some more details on this training method and sport.

    Neat! Are you planning on expanding your league to other countries? Maybe you could upload instruction videos, it would be so nice to learn how to fight like that!

    Cool. I have not heard of it before. How does a person join a league? Where are these leagues located?

      We are doing our best to launch training groups in various cities for the past few years. Right now we encourage to get their own local training groups, or visit a Taiji Fencing workshop to learn the basics.
      We have our new Taiji Fencing 101 video series now for people to learn the basics online and with their groups.

    I’m very interested in this. I took taekwondo for years and never took well to it because I was a very defensive fighter. Chinese arts seem to fit me well. Being this and wing chun

    • @TaijiFencing
      @TaijiFencing  3 роки тому +1

      If I were to recommend one empty-handed art for fighting both offensively and defensively, try Xingyi Quan. It develops all the core ingredients for enhancing body mechanics and structure. Some people call it Wing Chun while running. You will take in their attack, then overwhelm their structure with your counter.
      I hope your training is long and prosperous!

    The part from 1:50-1:57 looked like something from a dance recital. No offense intended.
    Still it all looks cool. Didn't know taiji had weapons forms to it, granted my only exposure to it is waterbending from Avatar. This was very interesting to see.

    • @TaijiFencing
      @TaijiFencing  2 роки тому +2

      Taiji refers to the principle of the interplay of creativity and receptivity. The Taiji Tu is the image of this principle, we call a yin yang in English. So, Taiji sword is not necessarily connected to Taiji Quan. But they do both focus on this concept of change.
      In modern times. They are practiced together as part of the same art. Many styles of Taiji terms in their full/long Chinese names.
      Thanks for the commentary! I'm glad you can see a new value to Taiji practices. 👐
