When it's said "Spare the rod and spoil the Spade", the rod is a switch used to hit children, and so thus he's saying, "Don't hit my child, and you'll spoil him. That's not how this game is played."

tbf listen to the sound bytes of their voices in game, lancers is high, sans is low
Lancer is a kid, and i can't think of any kid with a naturally deep voice. Plus the sound effects of his text is much higher pitched than Sans
Papyrus's soundbyte doesn't really sound like anything but most imagine him with a high pitched voice.
