I think it's kinda hilarious that saving heals Susie no matter where she is. She just suddenly feels a lot better out of nowhere and has absolutely no idea it's because Kris touched a save point.
Actually, even if susie and realise are in the party they still don’t know what’s making them feel better, at the beginning of chapter 1 it says “a light that only you can see” so susie and ralsie just see Kris reach out, touch nothing, and suddenly they feel better

Oh, y'all didn't know about the special dialogue when you fail the fight against Susie and Lancer? I found that on my first run 😅 Being hopelessly bad at video games has its perks I guess
The game is pretty good in the "Vs Susie" Lancer fight. Susie feeling betrayed and taking it out on her friend, the player not wanting this so they run into the bullets, Lancer giving up before the player gets a chance, then Susie eventually having a change of heart when she realizes she doesn't want to kill Lancer. Toriel was a nice easter egg you can get, but every aspect of the Susie/Lancer is deliberate and thought out, so much so that Toby didn't bother adding anything extra due to how much work you'd need to actually get Susie to low enough HP to die before the turn Lancer forfeits [and since it's so small of a detail, unsure if anything would bother to be added].
'you can actually die on toriel! its tricky, but you can make it happen!!' me who got stuck on toriel's fight when i played undertale for the first time: (i'm pretty sure i took like, 7+ tries... i got better at the fights thankfully hahah)
I also tried to get Susie knocked out on my first playthrough. My initial impression of Deltarune was... not discomfort, exactly, but it was giving me a weird vibe, starting just from the aborted character creation at the beginning. I took a break after meeting Seam, because something about his disfigured face disturbed me greatly. So by the time I got to the Susie v Lancer fight, I truly believed that Lancer would die if I didn't try to save him, because of how dark the game felt at this point. I loved Susie too, but I figured (hoped) that Lancer wouldn't actually kill her in turn, like she was about to do to him.
@@Noobpopcan Well first of all, subjective is subjective, and as for me personally, Seam gave me mind of, like, an actual maimed cat, and it upset me. I do love the character, that was just my first impression.
I got a small theory that Ralsei will be an enemy in like a weird route. He has shown passive aggressiveness such as giving kris a trash can in their room when you throw away the manual twice. Telling kris that they can throw it away again if he makes another. As well as the kindness stat in chapter 1 for Ralsei is at 100 but turns into sweetness 97 in chapter 2. That’s all I know if I’m pretty sure there’s some more
Come to think of it, a very minor mod that adds a special game over screen, dialogue and Lancer sprite for when you go out of your way to lose this fight would be really neat Kinda like the double battle mentioned in this video but way less lighthearted, for obvious reasons
@R3TRlSYou mean like the soul, right ? Because there aren't any Deltarune characters (so far) that remember that we died. There aren't even any changes in response to our resets (outside of Kris's save file disappearing from all chapter replays after you save even once)
Did this once by accident when I was trying to have 3 different game saves on file, but didn't want to skip Chapter 1. Didn't bother to save because I was already speed running it. Noticed that Susie was at low hp and decided to kill her on purpose to see what would happen. And to everyone's disappointment, it's just the normal game over screen.
I know what happens if you "Die" in the Tutorial Fight against the Ralsei's Dummy. Kris HP drop to negativ HP but the attack continues. If you get Hit a second time Ralsei takes 1 HP damage and the attack stop. You still can do anything you want but sometimes in this Tutorial the game gets confused. It is very weird
I know it's necessary for the game to not kill Lancer or Susie for the current established plot, but man. Imagine if you were able to straightup kill Susie here by forcing her to take hits. That would just be so dark and alarming, but such a cool mechanic I wish it could have been a thing anyways. I guess that'd also go against the 'your choices don't matter' theme that the first chapter was establishing strongly for the second one to start breaking down, though.
Looking at the title, I thought this was gonna be about the Lancer battle at the very start of chapter 1, and that honestly feels like it might be easier to test since you can just not save in front of Ralsei’s castle after getting hit by the Wobbly Things™, but then Ralsei himself might heal you like how Toriel does when you reach her house in Undertale so that you’ll have full hp for her boss battle even if you’re doing a saveless run (and don’t know you can heal at a savepoint without saving)
other thing too is that is possible to defeat lancer in the "susie vs lancer" fight, just edit your file and increase susie attack. the game just will softlock kris, but its interesting that this scene acts like a fight and not just a cutscene (and is a fight, not a cutscene)
Everyone always said they were scared and tried to make Susie die in this fight. This has nothing to do with the video, but in the case of an eventual theory on Seam, one detail that always stuck out to me is the fact that they tell you how their name is pronounced. Like in universe, they would be telling the fun gang their name so it wouldn't make sense for them to spell out the pronunciation, unless they know that their dialog would be in text format. For reference, I'm talking about when you enter Seam's shop and talk to them. They'll say "The name's Seam. Pronounced "Shawm"."
Ok hi so, I was playing through chapter 1 as you do and noticed something I've never seen anyone cover, after the susie vs lancer fight if you open the menu and go to the POWER tab and select Ralsei you can see that he has his Heal Prayer available, I was very confused by that since I had never seen it so I started testing and found a couple interesting things It heals 100 Hp (despite in battle it never healing that much) wich is funny since in chapter 1 only susie goes over 100 Hp it's the only usable spell you can use which kinda makes sense seing how Rude Buster, Pacify and Acting require a target that isn't a team member after entering any fight it is no longer possible to use it (which I think is related to the next point) the spell actually uses the Tp you get in the fight, so if you get between 32-64 Tp you can only use it once but 64-96 you can use it twice (this is one of the things I tested to make sure) I'm pretty sure the reason you lose it after entering any other fight is because the Tp resets after entering a fight I tried after Spamton and Giga queen since they're also fights that technically end abruptly like the lancer fight but in those I wasn't able to get the same result, in Giga queen it made sense to me since you can only interact with ralsei after going back into the closet because you're kicked out by susie, thought with spamton I couldn't think off any specific reason I just find this whole thing interesting since I think it's possible we may get to use spells out of battle in other chapters (or most likely it's just a glitch/oversight) though I don't see how this could be a glitch since (even though I'm not a coder) it just feels like being able to use spells from the menu seems very deliberate thank you for reading :D
If you hack Susie stats in Vs Susie section of Chapter 1 then Kris will be stuck out of bounds forcing you to spin for eternity because he was placed out of bounds during the Prison section when Susie fights Lancer
one interesting thing i discovered is at the end of chapter 2 when you "gather up everything in the room" you can actually take it home with you when you try to go north of the library in Hometown susie will wall you and tell you to go visit the closet dark world, I dont know if you can get past her by repeating this action but i did this 1. Go into room in school with closet doors 2. DO NOT ENTER DARK WORLD 3. turn around and go back outside 4. susie will no longer wall you from going to the north side of town 5. go home and end the chapter do you think this is a glitch or do you think this will have some concequences later?
You can actually just ignore her warning and keep walking if memory serves. I have no idea what the repercussions are for this but the fact Toby points it out is intriguing.
@@HalfBreadChaos it was a very odd route but i was trying to see if i could maybe get some cool dialogue for chapter 3 i killed some enemies with noelle (a lot actually, it was a snowgrave until berdly where i then chose the "im protecting her from you!" choice) im thinking the ones i recruited will either turn to stone because they dont fit the theme of the room or maybe they will change the theme of the whole house and fit because they were brought in here BEFORE the fountain was created? maybe the dead ones will come back or something and i just got a bunch of free POWER for kris and noelle, who knows I also took her thorn ring (and her watch lol), did the quest but not the fight for both secret bosses (jevils door is open and the loaded disk is in my inventory), said no to the egg, kept but did not use the undyne chocolates (im thinking they will either be poision or a full team heal, maybe you could even give them to like a boss or something idk), and some other stuff i cant really remember im sure something cool will happen, im kinda just comitting larceny rn and seeing what happens

I figured out an interesting theory hook not many people discuss about Undertale. Did you know Chara is Frisk? And Chara themselves is also the personification of seeking power? If you look into it you realize that Undertale is a lot different then people thought. Through the player Chara realizes the purpose of their reincarnation. To continue as Chara or continue as Frisk and seek peace with hope. Almost everyone views Chara as human, when they very clearly are not human as we see. No human does what they do with their face... Given Deltarune it might be important for the community to realize this.

the spell actually uses the Tp you get in the fight, so if you get between 32-64 Tp you can only use it once but 64-96 you can use it twice (this is one of the things I tested to make sure)
I'm pretty sure the reason you lose it after entering any other fight is because the Tp resets after entering a fight
I tried after Spamton and Giga queen since they're also fights that technically end abruptly like the lancer fight but in those I wasn't able to get the same result, in Giga queen it made sense to me since you can only interact with ralsei after going back into the closet because you're kicked out by susie, thought with spamton I couldn't think off any specific reason
I just find this whole thing interesting since I think it's possible we may get to use spells out of battle in other chapters (or most likely it's just a glitch/oversight) though I don't see how this could be a glitch since (even though I'm not a coder) it just feels like being able to use spells from the menu seems very deliberate
thank you for reading :D
For someone without a voice, you have more personality than most people on this platform. I really enjoy your videos :-)
Your videos are too good, even after moving on from Undertale/Deltarune, this is still a masterpiece!
Love this community!
For a second there I thought the title was "What happens when you die to cancer"
If you hack Susie stats in Vs Susie section of Chapter 1 then Kris will be stuck out of bounds forcing you to spin for eternity because he was placed out of bounds during the Prison section when Susie fights Lancer
one interesting thing i discovered is at the end of chapter 2 when you "gather up everything in the room" you can actually take it home with you
when you try to go north of the library in Hometown susie will wall you and tell you to go visit the closet dark world, I dont know if you can get past her by repeating this action but i did this
1. Go into room in school with closet doors
2. DO NOT ENTER DARK WORLD
3. turn around and go back outside
4. susie will no longer wall you from going to the north side of town
5. go home and end the chapter
do you think this is a glitch or do you think this will have some concequences later?
Sounds like a glitch
Now speedrun it
You can actually just ignore her warning and keep walking if memory serves.
I have no idea what the repercussions are for this but the fact Toby points it out is intriguing.
@@HalfBreadChaos it was a very odd route but i was trying to see if i could maybe get some cool dialogue for chapter 3
i killed some enemies with noelle (a lot actually, it was a snowgrave until berdly where i then chose the "im protecting her from you!" choice)
im thinking the ones i recruited will either turn to stone because they dont fit the theme of the room or maybe they will change the theme of the whole house and fit because they were brought in here BEFORE the fountain was created?
maybe the dead ones will come back or something and i just got a bunch of free POWER for kris and noelle, who knows
I also took her thorn ring (and her watch lol), did the quest but not the fight for both secret bosses (jevils door is open and the loaded disk is in my inventory), said no to the egg, kept but did not use the undyne chocolates (im thinking they will either be poision or a full team heal, maybe you could even give them to like a boss or something idk), and some other stuff i cant really remember
im sure something cool will happen, im kinda just comitting larceny rn and seeing what happens
@@Kingman524 "im kinda just comitting larceny rn and seeing what happens" is a lifestyle I can respect
inb4 Toby actually adds a single sprite to this fight specifically if you die to Lancer somehow
The extra dialogue is hilarious I love it
Yo i just found this channel a bit ago, this is some really entertaining content dude i could watch these experiments for like an hour straight
I was jumpscared by the human at the start and then the pleasant tts rolled in and i was soothed
Embarrassingly, i have died in the susie and lancer fight, and thus seen the secret dialogue
Really humorous and well researched!
You burst into flames
halfbread why are you doing an impression of my dad right now
My phone just fell in the toilet but halfbread here to save the day
0:38 YOU CAN SEE A PIXEL OF KRIS’S SPRTIE WHAT
Great video! I didn't knew you could die in this fight!
i misread the title as “what happens if you die to cancer”
for a moment there at the start i thought that was your actual voice- i was stunned cause i never expected it but then i got dissapointed (not that its bad to use text to speech, i have no problem with it
Hell im early! Love your content Bread!
Oh man, I've been looking for this channel for so long. I could only find it by searching "Deltarun theory text to spech"
Then why’d you comment this on two separate videos
To be honest, now that you mention it. I have no idea either. Maybe I just forgot or something? I really don't know, like really, honestly, I have no idea.
@@zavitak I mean, they are both commented on virtually the same timeframe, it’s more believable if you just said you were disappointed in the first comment getting no attention, and decided to try againz
hope youre doing good halfbreadchaos! miss u!
I read the title wrong💀
did you read lancer as cancer?
*what happens if you die to cancer*
OHMYGOD FOR THE FIRST 5 SECONDS I WAS JUST LIKE "HALFBREAD IS USING VOICE NOW?? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN??"
7:17 I swear to god, the subtitles did go up to his face and making a smile.
No way. HBC and Vivat Veritas uploading on the same day? This is a gift from the gods.
it satisfies my deltarune content starvation
Cool video! Thanks for making it!
I thought the title said what happens if you die to cancer for a sec
Holy shit i was so scared at the start i though it was your voice.
Very fun analysis video! Thanks so much for uploading!
I wonder if anyone's streamed on UA-cam attempts to do this?
I know this theory has little to know evidence but what it kris's " Heart shaped object" wasnt actually the soul
oh my goddd HALFBREDCHAOS!!!?? YOU SCARED ME! I THOUGHT YOU VOICE REVEALEDD! NEVER SCARE ME LIKE THAT AGAIN!! your test to speach voice has a certain kinda charm to it i like it
Love your videos and Molly's too. You both make me smile when i see a new video.
As for this video. It's amazing and kinda funny that we as players keep finding ways to die in fights toby doesn't intend us too. You can't stop us from headbutting the wall Tony Fox! We do what we want, and will find a way!
I like how you mentioned Kris is offscreen. Now I can't not notice where the heart comes from
my brain misinterpreted the title as "What Happens if you Lie to Dancer" for a moment...
anyway cool vid
I read what happens if you die to Cancer
Hm, how very interesting, i wonder if there’s any other Secrets that has yet to be discovered?
Welp, this video has been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time coming.
HELP I ACTUALLY DIED TO SUSIE AND LANCER IN CHAPTER 1 PN MY FIRST PLAYTHROUGH TWICE AND I GOT THE DIALOGUE😭😭😭
Nice, someone finally acknowledges this weird "VS Susie&Lancer" fight stuff
I hope Toby sees this and adds an easter egg in the chapter 3 update.
toby thought of EVERYTHING
EVERY. THING.
jesus
1:16 on my first ever time playing undertale this happened, i sucked so much it was skill.
Uhhhhh new newsletter came out yesterday, and we found a mystery within one of the valentine cards (not the {presumably} Gaster one, the other one that's written by an anonymous person)
if youre referring to the AMV one, its alphys. "youre the kind of person i wish i could be" kinda gives it away. (also file name lol)
this isnt completeky relevant but one time i crunched the numbers and lancer would have died if susie didnt miss. i commented this before and went into more detail on another video that was just the fight but i cannot for the life of me find it again
I've been wondering this for a long time.
*yup I hate Susie*
Something funny i found if your hp is low and you let kris and ralsei go down in the k.round fight
In the Dilouge where ralsei tells susie to stop attacking k.round it still plays when ralsei is down
Kinda funny but Proving my theory that when ralsei goes down he doesnt just disapear he just hides
To heal
The non-TTS voice at the beginning scared the heck out of me-
I figured out an interesting theory hook not many people discuss about Undertale.
I knew about those secret dialogues I am happy
Its always a good day when halfbread posts
"Forced to watch as Lancer grows weaker and weaker and weaker"
Oh man, that reminds me of Ribbit...
Such a good Deltarune mod.
Okay this is a question ive had for awhile. Why do our party members take damage from OUR soul, why can Susie use our soul in the lancer fight, why can they use TP we collect that just doesnt ma sense.
Hey HalfBread, using your phone twice while in queen's shock cage causes susie to notice a noise coming from your pocket
“It’s tricky to die to Toriel.” Wow, that must mean I’m a god at video games because I did that first try.
6:07 i had so much of a skill issue when i first played deltarune that i listened to that more than 5 times and experienced the dialogue
Dude you are amazing :D
Im just questioning how deltarune's soul logic applies to frisk and undertale
Deltarune fans: playing through the game no save just to die to castle lancer
2:01 always do ceiling function, not floor or nearest integer. You’ll be 1-less if it has a division remainder if you do floor or round to nearest integer.
2:55 ohhhh, you’re going to say we can’t eat the moss are you?
amazing how the video could have been 20s long
