Good thing my wife watched this with me, because she experiences synesthesia, so she loves the name of this pedal! Normally, the name of a pedal is incidental to her; she usually notices the design, then the sound(s), and in that order🙂.
Me, I’ve too often looked at used Boss MD-500 prices, mainly for the SL-20 Slicer effect. EHX Super Pulsar and Mod Rex have also interested me, in the past. I like the ZOIA slicer-type patches (but they may lack stereo I/O or panning), and Eventide’s Harpeggiator effect is maybe as good or better than Boss’s Slicer. Pattern tremolo on HX Stomp? Etc.! But, with the growing options for unique and interesting, stereo, modulation-focused multi-fx, maybe I will one day find myself looking seriously at Synesthesia, Walrus M1, and others like them. Thanks for the video! 🤔
really cool, especially when its like the end of a note and barely any volume and you click the A/Y that was super cool, subtle like the shallow water but incredible
It's a great pedal. I had one for a while. It sounds very obviously digital to me-- not a criticism, just an observation. The rotary effect is great with drum on channel A and horn on channel B.
Wait for the Walrus V2. I would email them to ask about it. The V2 of the delay is stellar, and has a lot of options. They are most likely releasing V2 on all the Mako series this year. They both have very cool features, with great digital mods, so I don’t think there is a wrong choice. I like analog for certain modulations, especially a Uni-Vibe or Phaser, but GFI make great gear for any effect. I have never seriously wanted an envelope filter, in 30 years of playing, until the Rossie, which the Synesthesia has in it, or close. I’ve been eyeing the Rossie for awhile, as it’s far from just the envelope filter.
Yep I’m trying to decide between the two as well. Flanger being omitted from the M1 is a point for the Synesthesia but the easy lofi settings get a point back. I don’t know!?!?!?
Such a great demo! You should claim some sort of royalty from GFI - it convinced me that the Synesthesia still have some leverage:) Is there any chance you could upload the lop files? All best
What do you think, this or the Mobius? I am pretty new to modulation but like the idea of being able to use two effects at once with this one. Do you think the Mobius has better sounds?
I have spent very little time with Mobius many years ago so I can’t say much unfortunately. Based on available effects and being able to run 2 effects Synesthesia looks like the better option but at the end it depends on the sounds and what you want.
The switches are regular size actually, same size as the switches on pedals. They’re easy to use with foot but you might need to leave some space around it if you put it on a pedalboard.
Thanks! The reverb is nice but it’s not as versatile as the ones on the Specular Tempus. Reverb is a useful extra but I wouldn’t get it as my only reverb.
This one feels really weird to me... I was searching for exactly something like that (good fonctions, good layout), but the sounds... 🤔 they're so flat, digital, fake... I really dig your dry sound in this demo, and when the pedal is on, you just hear that ugly compression (and on every other demo I watched). So, as I said on another of your demo, I'll end up with something completely different and very well-thought : an Alexander Pedals that will sound good on guitar, synths and drums. For the GFI : maybe on synths to get a big fat clean modern sound ? otherwise, I wouldn't get it.
Great pedal, but things are starting to get to the point where pedals cost as much as an amp or guitar. Between this and all these great granular delays, I could easily spend thousands on pedals and still not have all my bases covered.
You can download the presets here: donoise.home.blog/2023/10/24/synesthesia-presets/

Long (ish) time follower, first time commenter: what a fucking tasteful demo, dude. Perfectly adequate playing for each preset. Hats off.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!

Still one of my favorite pedals of ALL time
Great sounds! I’m in the middle of making a ton of presets on mine and you gave me several new ideas.🙏

Great video!
Torn between this and the Walrus Audio Mako M1. Great demo!
Thanks!
I'm curious about the M1, too.

This can do 2 effects at the same time and run one in to the other :)

@@BolusInfernalis I'm aware
Please turn the "flanging phone" section into an intro for a song. It's beautiful.
1:20 Love the Batman theme. You rock.
Thanks for sharing! Cool sounds!
Killer demo! Love the various sounds you chose to focus on.
Thank you!

Thank you!
Yeah I was planning to upload the files somewhere but I totally forgot. I’ll try to get to it soon. Will let you know!
Now i think i want to replace my MD200 with this pedal 🧐

@@DoNoisethank you very much, I appreciate your response. I have decided to go with neither, and instead purchase the Boss MD500.
Does it have a delay with pitch shift ? I want my delay to be played at the 5th? Thanks
These tiny triple switches are perfect for fingers. Any plans to release a slightly larger, more realistic version for feet?
The switches are regular size actually, same size as the switches on pedals. They’re easy to use with foot but you might need to leave some space around it if you put it on a pedalboard.
@@DoNoise thanks for the response and info. Sorry, I meant the spacing between the switches was the issue, not the size of the switches themselves.
How's the reverb on this compared to the gfi tempus? Cool demo!
Thanks! The reverb is nice but it’s not as versatile as the ones on the Specular Tempus. Reverb is a useful extra but I wouldn’t get it as my only reverb.
How come the Pressed Junk effect doesn’t have a dirt/noise parameter anymore? It’s not replaced with gain
I’m not sure if it has changed. I’ve only had the Synesthesia for about a month.

Where do I buy that flat patch cable?
Input cable is Ernie Ball Flat Ribbon, TRS Switch cable is EBS Flat TRS. They are both widely available.
