- Let's check out how cool it is to run normal boring synthesizer sounds into lush stereo effects. We'll use the GFI System Synesthesia dual modulator and Specular Tempus reverb pedals on the Arturia Microfreak and transform basic sounds into something much, much cooler.

Hey man, what's the oscilloscope looking thing on the right?
1:13
@@bluntobjct well that one flew right by you.
@@guysmiley7289 nah, I figured you knew but wanted other people to have a timestamp. 😘
Hahaha. I had the exact same “joke” in mind.
Me: "wow what is that awesome little visualization thing?"
Jeremy: *calls me a loser*
me: *clicks 'like'*
Great breakdown of these devices! Some further notes:
- On the Specular Tempus you can control all "real" labeled parameters on the pedal itself and need SpecLab only for the up to four "virtual" ones.
- You can access ALL parameters of the Synesthesia on the pedal itself (SymmLab is completely optional).
- Every knob on the Synesthesia can have up to four functions (turn, push, push & hold, push & twist).
- The Synesthesia has a dedicated Reverb and Delay you can use standalone if need be.
- You can save & share presets with other users.
GFI pedals are among the best in the industry! I also run my MF with the same setup and that's literally all you need for it to sound massive! Great video and showcase, super inspiring as always.
Fun fact: All hardware, algorithms and editors are designed & built by one person who is a freakin wizard at his craft: Henry Widaja who is also the founder of GFI System. He offers great technical support, too and responds super fast if you need any help. Great recommendation from my side :)
Really appreciate the humorous, sonically immersive and easily digestible info here.
"mono as hell..." 🤣 that's your next T-shirt right there...
I have been lusting for the Specular Tempus for years!
I love pairing my MF and Specular Reverb! GFI stuff sounds great
Thank you for this video - I am totally guilty of trying to make my synths work for me without help from external effects and this inspired me to start plugging my various synths into my pedals and experimenting today.
Superb combination.....SYNESTHESIA is ridiculous 👾
Awesome
Ur awesome
Such a good vid. As always. Thanks
I've spend forever with the most complex additive/modulation/distortion synth techniques but occasionally i just sit down for an hour and send a low passed saw into a bunch of random massive del/verb chains. Achieving bliss can be just that simple!
THE MICROFREAK And SP.TPs, Sound SOOoooH Much BETTER DAWLESS
I bought a GFI Specular Tempus back when I couldn't afford a Strymon Timeline and Big Sky for my Roland JX-3P. Wish I kept it when I moved country. But, this month I started looking at the GFI Skylar + cheap digidelay to put with my Microfreak. Up to now has lived plugged into the Digitone chorus+delay+rev external FX. It's helpful to hear that kind of setup here, thanks! The digitone chorus sounds nice on the Microfreak btw. It often improves the uFreak patch.
great narration, hope you grow ;)

That's how you think of love... And I really love the Specular Tempus (especially the anti-shimmer)
Love my Specular Tempus.
I watched it to the end hoping I'll get to see the other part of that box above the Freak....
Thank you.
Doppler is a hidden gem on this pedal. It really is completely different than anti-shimmer. It continually drops the pitch of the reverb and is most noticeable after you’ve released a note (that doesn’t have particularly long decay on its own). You’re gonna want to make a preset for it so you can always have access to it when unplugged from the software. 👌🏻
I’ve used it here. It’s subtle but noticeable in this recording. It can be very extreme if you like. ua-cam.com/video/CtR-2lCUd5w/v-deo.html
Awesome!
Thanks!
Love the ergonomic mouse aesthetic
I made this comment when it was just hardware and I thought the mouse was just there to look fun 😁
you figured out how to save your wrist! good for you! next up, review of columnar keyboards?
You should check out Digitalis by Aberrant DSP! They just came out with it a few days ago, and it's like a Data Bender VST, but you can screw around with all of the parameters like repeats, pitch modulation, corruption, etc. My favorite feature is the sequencer, it's so cool!
I have it. It's bonkers.
@@RedMeansRecording Please make a video on it lol
I haven't worked out how to use sequencer yet...it's a quirky little tool!
@@GuidoGautsch I got it too, brilliant plugin! The sequencer is quite easy to use. You just assign a parameter to each tab, then use the knobs control the amount for each step.
First 01:15 of the video I couldn't focus, because of that thing on the right, tried to figure out what it is, where its cable was going etc.. What a f$#@ing loser I've been 🤣😅
Stunning! Like your channel. What’s your favourite shimmer reverb?
This one or Valhalla shimmer
~10:40 - *blown away dog*: He right that [sound] do be [massive]... o.o
Nice BPM
That thing to the right.... Is that the new iPhone?
We have the same mouse!
LOL were you drinking while recording this?
Space-y. In a nice Kevin Agnostic way.
lmao i was one of those losers asking about that thing
Yeeeeah. I usually pair my MF with an Empress Effects ZOIA
up my who? lol
Jeremy !!! much love from Miami ....
£800 worth of pedals and u find some nice effects crazy 😜
