Remember this game. Seattle finally winning decisively vs Sacramento after struggling with them for the previous 2 games. Let's not forget, Mitch Richmond didn't play much during this game for Sacremento. He was a tough matchup for Seattle bc he could shoot the 3 but also post up any smaller guards. This series may have gone 5 had he played more this game, just being real. Something about the 1st round made Seattle very anxious and play tight and I think Denver and LA exploited this the previous 2 playoffs. Nonetheless, Kemp finally led his team this game in the series like a leader should, (along with Payton). This was the Sonic's and Kemp's best year as a pro where he was the 2nd best P Forward in the league ( behind Malone)
Correct but he was better than Malone imo this play-offs and his first year in Cleveland leading them to the play-offs with SEVEN rookies, before his tragic decline
@@stijnvanmanshoven4591 Yes, he was arguably right up there with or even better than Malone in '96. I do remember game 7 of the series where Kemp stayed out of foul trouble and outplayed Malone when it counted! He also outplayed Malone in a losing effort in game 6 too. I remember even in the '93 series where Kemp had an insane Game 1 vs. Malone as well. Kemp has had his moments and the times when Malone got the better of Kemp throughout '93ish -98ish, it's largely bc Kemp would pick up boneheaded fouls and wouldn't play heavy minutes, thus lower numbers vs. Malone
This great Sonics team in the postseason blasted the Rockets by 33 points, won a game over Utah by 30, and even blew out that historically good Bulls team by 21 in the Finals. Yet this was the only decisive win they had against the Kings and it was by only 14. Just something about the first round for those Seattle teams.
God I love the reign man
Classic Kemp.
I still remember them sweeping the defending champs Houston Rockets in the next round. Bring'em back. Sonic fan since the day I was born
Why didn't he play
Kemp dropped some dynamite in that bucket.

good point. I think once they got out of the 1st round, they played more looser it seemed
they had certain elite playoff games like the 3 u mentioned but only went far in 93 + 96 why do u feel that all happened
I think there was a earthquake in the Seattle area the night of this game. Crazy the things we remember. Loved watching this playoff run.
