CJ Pony Parts Automatic is way better than a Manual because they sell a lot more Automatics than Manuals that doesn’t mean anybody is lazy it means Automatic Transmission is way faster from 0-60 and is way more fuel efficient than the Manual counterpart because you don’t have to shift gears it shifts gears Automatically

Finally someone that teaches properly! I would suggest learning a handbrake start for those hills, good skill to have. It saved me several times from crashing into the car behind which was literally inches from me. Just add about 2000rpm, find the biting point, hold both feet still and release the hand brake and the car will start moving no sliding back at all. This is always taught as a basic skill in Europe, in fact in the UK this is taught even on flat ground on the first lesson when moving off. Students develop better and faster methods once they get better.

  • @johnybrokeit

With the engine off, let the student practice shifting gears without looking away from the front glass/road! ...several times she looked down at the stick when she needed to shift, my heart started beating faster. So, practice shifting gears looking forward or with your eyes closed so u never need to look down again 😁

Bill is really nice, I was left at the bottom of the hill with a motorcycle and told if you don't wanna spend the night here, learn gears and climb up to the top. 1st: never turn off PE / 2nd I always teach people to wiggle the shifter when parking before letting off the clutch to ensure you'r in neutral. It's a great early habit to learn so you never accidentally release the clutch while in gear when parking or stopped at a light.

Love the graphics on the Mustang! I learned to drive a manual, going forward and backwards in the driveway. Once I had the clutch down, I already knew how to shift watching my parents drive. I had a friend from high school looking at a car to buy, but it was a manual. My Dad looked at me, and told me to take his car and teach her how to drive a manual.

I learned on an 87 toyota 2wd pickup from my dad. No power steering, no power windows, no power anything. 5 speed manual with 4 forward and reverse.
I really liked driving that old thing over the other option which was a gold, 1986 two door Dodge 600 with a soft top. Neither were nice looking vehicles but the truck did give me a good feeling when I drove it. Something about driving that manual transmission was like a drug.
When we were in high school I taught my girlfriend how to drive stick with that truck! Hehe, good times :)

Manual shifting in a Mustang GT or higher is work of beauty and complete driver experienced satisfaction. Many haters out there actually cannot drive a manual anyway if the truth be told. In a muscle car as in the newer Mustang's, speed is very important, however over the life of your Mustang ownership, the experience of driving a manual is a highly rewarding experience.

Props to the Lady for not giving up, she done very well, and props to the dude for not getting impatient and being a good teacher. This is the nicest first lesson ever… my tip is that when I realized the car won’t stall if your rolling it helped. If you let it idle in first gear your car will go about 10 mph on flat ground without stalling out. Second gear is a little faster and so on. When you know that point that’s all you need to get to in first gear. My new mustang I don’t even have to give it gas I can just slowly let the clutch out. Older Hondas I’d rev to 900- 1000 and slowly let the clutch out. After your foot is fully off the clutch you can give it more gas

I've taught many how to drive a manual, mostly I start them off in grass to be easier on the car and to allow some forgiveness to the driver, if they pop the clutch or get to bucking it;s easier on all of us. I also teach them how to use the handbrake to get going on hills.

I had to learn in a Diesel manual (The Netherlands) i was so used to it untill i passed my test and i began to drive in a old gasoline manual. Boy, i had to learn how to drive all over again as the car didn't had a point that the car should've started to roll. But after a days practice, i learned how to master it. Bought my own car (audi coupe 1987) and this one at least has a engagement point.

The clutch is feathery and same with the gas. I feel like the biting point is a thick as a dime's width! Wish you were in cleveland ohio cause I just got this thing yesterday and I just had to drive a family members car to work since I still dont know wtf I'm doing. One thing to explain is that the default path on the stick is spring loaded to the 3rd and 4th gate. Left pressure to overcome the spring gets the 1st and 2nd gate and right pressure the 5th and 6th. You can feel the spring-effect and it really helps. Forward and back effect between 3-4 and 4-3 can be with one or two fingers with almost no effort.

First thing I teach them is how to stop, clutch in and on the brake. I think we can all agree that's a good safety rule.
It's good he teaches initially to not even bother with the gas, or to move the clutch and gas oppositely at the same time, it's just too complicated. I say "if you let the clutch out slowly enough it will start moving without any problem".
My advice for beginners is "don't be in a hurry to get that clutch fully engaged when the light turns green" that's when everyone stalls it. Just slow and steady and after 50 or so starts they can start using the gas while engaging the clutch from a stop.
I taught my wife on a down hill slope so engagement was easier both on her and on the car. Then when they are used to it an uphill could be handled.

He left with his buddies and left me in the parking lot when I was in high school. I stalled at least 10 times and had cars honking at me. She's did very well for her first time out.
