My children are grown now and it makes me so happy to see you and Solo parenting. For me, those years with my growing children were the busiest time of my life and most certainly, being a mom was the best part of my life. I thank The Lord for giving me that opportunity!
You look beautiful, Solo handsome, the boys mature and handsome with the haircuts and the girls always look adorable. And Seth....so very precious!
    Keep up the good work!

Hey, Sara! How are you? Hope you're feeling amazing! Here's a tip: all kinds of grains, when soaked 24h, not only help it cook easier, but also have the phytates, which cause the flatulence and the intestinal discomfort, removed! I do it even with brown rice, which makes it cook in 10min. I think you already let the beans soak, but the brown rice also can be soaked! Love your family, may the Lord send blessings to all of you 🙏🏻❤️

    • @OurTribeofMany

Clarice Giardini good to know! We soak most of our beans most of the time but I had no idea about rice!

Aparently adding some bicarb to the beans helps

Also slow cooking may not be the best for beans some say its not hot enough to kill the toxins that can cause digestive issues. Pressure cooking is the preferred way as it is very hot and has helped us eliminate issues.

I knew that about beans, but I did not know that about rice. Thank you for the tip. Because we have sensitive stomachs in our house.

I was actually meaning to suggest one of my regular meals for you. It's my version of eggroll in a bowl. It's simple and can be 1 ingredient(cabbage mix) plus spices or up to 5(depending on what I have on hand). I brown 10 ounces Italian ground sausage (it's easier to find and cheaper than ground pork for me) and set to the side. Then saute 2 onions (white, yellow, shallots, or none) and a large package of coleslaw mix from Sam's (2 pounds- green & red cabbage/carrot mix) in the fat rendered from the cooked meat on medium high heat. I will put a lid on the pot to speed up the cooking process for the cabbage/onion mix. I season with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, minced garlic, and dried chives. Because cabbage is so voluminous before cooking down, I use a large pot so the cabbage doesn't end up all over the stove. When the cabbage is cooked to the softness I like, I add back the sausage to warm it a little. I squeeze lime juice and garnish with cilantro when I'm feeling fancy. It's super simple and hard to mess up. It's a great way to stretch meat and get lots of yummy veggies in. It makes about 5 adult sizes servings.

I make this too but add my onion right in with the meat and when the meat is half finished I add the cabbage and seasonings...fast n easy

I’m always a bit jealous when you do these food prep videos! I really need to do more of that to help relieve the dinner stress. I did at least write down and plan 2 weeks of meals before shopping so I have a list of what I could make. I think I dislike cooking dinner so much because it’s a lot of work that I do and Most of the time my kids just complain about it. Makes me feel defeated. Great lookin hair cuts!

When I do white rice is the instant pot - (my measurements are much smaller ) I use 2 cups of rice, 3 cups of water - press manual set for 4 minutes and 10 minutes natural release - works every time 👍🏼 some may find the rice a little soft, experiment and set the time to your taste. ❤️

Rinse the rice 3 Xs for best result. ( until water runs clear when poured off). So much starch on there! It goes fast tho, so well worth the rinses. You can even get an older kid to do it for you. Washing the beans gets out little sand balls or dirt balls that will turn into mud while cooking, so it’s a good idea to pick they or wash the beans ( or ANY dried bean!) my grandmother always gave this job to me. A bean that did not look like the rest, went in the trash. It was a fun enuf job. 👍🏼🌸

I use a recipe for mung beans: (use pressure cooker) sautee one onion (light brown) add 2 piece garlic, tomato paste about 1 1/2 tsp. Then salt and pepper to taste. Then add in the mung beans and however much water is necessary for that much beans. Cook for 15-20 mins. It tastes so good and goes great with white rice or just bread.

Like the cheeseburger casserole & the peanut butter chicken ideas. The recipe using mung beans sounds good as well & the tips for cooking rice is appreciated.

Food prep really is so worth the effort. I’m happy for you that you’ve discovered this. Soon try doing two weeks. I know it sounds like a difficult thing, but just like the one week you get used to it. If you can get yoursel up to a month, then you’ll really enjoy prep day because you’ll know you have an entire month of easy meals.
The boys’ hair cuts look super dapper!
And, Solo photo bombing is so cute! It’s nice to see y’all play.

When in Bali, I had their peanut chicken and they served it with something akin to coleslaw. It was dressed with a little honey and lemon juice, not to make it too sweet, but to cut the acid. I prefer my satay/peanut chicken served with that sort of vegetable, rather than rice. You might like it, too. Literally just shredded cabbage (red and green is good) and carrot, with lemon and honey dressing.

I tried to do a mini meal prep as a first timer (cooked the msin part of tomorrows dinner while was making todays) but my big boys ate it Lol I've got 4 boys 16,14,12 and 1(17 months) so I've learned to make sure I label the containers and tell then what its for hopefully they'll stay off our dinners !😁😊💙❤

I really need to do this, my twin sons are at college and our oldest is buying a house. I find the more time I spend in the kitchen, the more I nibble. I could make several meals to help me after teaching all day.

I love your prep videos as it’s motivated me to do some prepping recently. I started out by just frying up some hamburger meat and then freezing in bags. I had bought a 3 lb package and was only using 1 lb for supper, but I thought it would save time later if the meat was already browned. I used 1 lb of it last night in Taco Soup and it was great not having to brown it. I just dumped in pot with beef broth and taco seasoning and warmed a bit then added the rest of the ingredients. I’m planning to do more meal prepping because you have motivated me. Tks! Blessings.

My mom would always make pork chops with paprika(powder), salt, black pepper, and sauerkraut over mashed potato. Sounds too simple but that's the best thing when feeding a family of 7 plus friends.

I've tried your curry chicken receipe and it came out lovely. This is my new way of cooking curry. May God continue to bless your large family.
