Sorry, I find nothing redeeming about Bolsheviks and Communists. Sadly, only Tseitel chose a fitting and decent husband in Fiddler amongst the daughters. @@dovbarleib3256 Oof welp ur about to debate with one now. Communism doesn't advocate for "stealing someone's wealth" this isn't Robinhood. Whereas Perchik, assuming that he'd survive his initial sentence in Siberia, still has WW1, the Red Revolution in 1917, the following Civil War, the Great Terror, and Stalin's mass purges amd executions in the 30s, where most OG marxists like Perchik were sent to Siberia or simply killed. This is a hard to watch scene. I just want to jump between them and MAKE HER STOP. Girl, he is consumed by his passion! there is no way he can truly love you! ! Oh, well. Poor thing.
A man willing to, even while focused on his passion, struggle to find the words to admit his feelings is a worthy man. He knows how to set aside his passion because she is also a part of it. I truly pity the person who marries a man with no to little passion.
I actually think he is very much in love with her, he just doesn’t know how to express himself when it comes to love. He is used to talk about his political opinions and therefore chooses to propose like that because he doesn’t know any other way. There is no way he would marry her and bring her with him if he wasn’t in love, his work would be the only thing on his mind and bringing a girl would only cause trouble.
As someone who can’t express emotions well... sometimes the cold logical answer is the best way. He does love her, he’s just not used to love. You can tell he loves her because he fights the battle to admit his feelings (something he’s not good at) and is willing to fight her fathers will for her. He loves her, just in a different way. I think they’re a good balance of one who only knows love, and one who is a „stranger in a strange land.“ This is all new for him and he did his best.
Perchik's always been my favorite. He's got the brains and snark; but he's also hopelessly awkward and rather shy. That's cute lol :D
I'm more partial to Motel and Fyedka, but Perchik definitely has his charms. I like how nobody in this story is perfect.
