- This DJ Conversations episode we dive into the importance of DJing with emotion. Emotions are always involved when it comes to music and mixing, so let's explore how to bring that emotional connection to your sets!
I love this PDot I feel you and agree 100%
The downtown Vegas crowds definitely invoke similar feelings for me. I have a Saturday night residency downtown and some nights are much more memorable and rewarding than others. Playing to different crowds every week can definitely be challenging and draining when your not getting that connection from them.
Thanks for this, quite possibly the most open and honest video I’ve seen about DJing in a very, very long time.
I’ve just been through a rough gig and I wish I’d have watched this first.
Much respect!!
Preach cuh
Build a team and the night gets easier 💪🏽😁👍🏽
I'm more stoic, but a lot of that tends to do with not wanting to give off the vibe that I like people coming up to me while I'm DJ'ing... I just notice when I'm smiling and more extroverted people feel more comfortable disrupting me. When I look more busy they dont
Just this week on Twitch I decided to pull back from doing raids for a bit and just play on my own. The raids actually have more people but when I play on my own I tend to enjoy it more as I don’t feel as restricted.
That freedom mentally helps me a lot and I could feel it in the responses from the people listening.
The weird thing is I could play the same thing on the raids and it won’t feel the same.
Not sure if it has anything to do with what you’re saying but yeah. 😅
I focus on the task at hand but am constantly bouncing to the beat. If the track is a favorite, you might catch me singing along, but that's rare. I personally like the DJ who just plays music. I'm on the dance floor for the mix the DJ can do, not really for the DJ themselves.
Great one man. I'm one of those DJs who focuses on mixing. Everything you said is true. After many years of deejaying, I find myself struggling with a mic. What are your recommendations to get comfortable using the mic? That is my biggest weakness. Maybe in a future video, you could address. Thanks.
Have you noticed that the rane 72 has been discontinued?
