If you're debating whether buying new DJ gear is worth it, this video is for you! We'll discuss why buying new DJ gear can re-energize your motivation.
What motivates me…to be creative …man , just seeing people enjoy music , just hearing a dope song reminds you that a DJ is part of the music making process.
I now have the performer as well. With all of the different features and functions it definitely has unlocked a creative part of me that has been lacking for a while. I've been djing for over 30 years and I have always loved to do but it has definitely been times that it became more of a job than a hobby that I love. But thanks to Rane and the new performer I'm actually excited to dj again.
Learning new genres of music and blending them with the music style I am more comfortable with. It allows my audience to hear something new and different as well as allows me to move outside the box
Good video @Pdot - very insightful. DJ'ing with USB sticks is very convenient, but for open-format DJ's who like to take different twists and turns in a set, then a laptop is still best. Having access to all your music certainly allows for creativity an come unexpected discoveries. Not to mention, stems unlocks a lot of room for creativity. That being said, as much as stems is a good thing......too many DJs make terrible mashups which are out of key and sound terrible. The feature is also starting to make some DJs lazy - they dont care about phrasng and often dont even bother to use the breaks to mix out.... They just make instrumentals at random parts of the song and lay down an accapella.... Sometimes stems is both a blessing and a curse.
I think it's similar to when digital DJing (Serato/Traktor) first dropped. It gave DJs SO MANY more options compared to vinyl/cds. It was easy to just use the ability to have 1000s of songs but not put the time in to make the most of the new freedom.
I was super fortunate to win a Rev 7 about a years and a half ago. I was planning on selling it cheaper than retail (100% profit in my pocket) but my curiosity made want to at least try it out. So I took it out of the box and set it up. And instantly I told myself “yeahh….this thing is awesome and it ain’t going no where. That controller def sparked my creative flame that was getting kind of dim. Although I have my tables n mixer set it next to the 7, I always gravitate to the 7 when I’m streaming or just doing a quick session. Everything you said was spot on man, new gear and def be great for you creatively. As long as you can afford it 😂
Oh boy here goes Pdot with some more realism , making us think again. But Pdot ….do you get a chance to use your own gear often at your venues vs furnished gear Thx for today’s video. We love it .

I love that!

This eagerness to learn and progress in this industry is such a blessing and a curse man. But we live for it and love it ngl
Yessir! I agree!

Ab! Miss you man!
I totally agree with everything you said, most importantly the "as long as you can afford it" part!

Thx for today’s video. We love it .
I almost never take out my own gear to gigs nowadays (I'm blessed).
@@PDot so then, why should a person like you invest in gear if you don’t get a chance to actually perform on it ?
Pioneer CDJs need stems PERIOD! If not Pioneer will get used less. Stems changed how we mix! Period!
I really hope they can add that soon!
@@PDot it’s either pioneer or Denon at this point
I see stems as to make floor crushing mashup before my live performance..... N then serve them to the crowd.
@@djsasha.remix.mashups I def need stems for the way I DJ 🤷🏾♂️
