2017 F250 Center Console to Jumpseat Conversion

- I bought a King Ranch f250 but needed to be able to seat 6 in my truck. While there were tons of videos of people pulling their jump seats and installing a center console there weren't any videos of people pulling the center console and installing a jump seat. This should give you a little more insight than I had, although it is in no way a comprehensive video on what you may or may not experience. I did not film some portions and depending on your trim package things may be different. Feel free to post any comments as you find anything that could help others during this conversion. I'm glad to answer any questions or comments and thanks for watching!
This video was super helpful. For anybody reading this though, you don’t need to remove the passenger or driver seat to do this entire modification. All bolts are available and accessible without removing either bucket seat.
Not sure why Ford couldn't offer the higher trims with the center jump seat. I want to order a king ranch or a platinum but having a console is a deal breaker because I hate them with a passion.
Imo it looks more truck like with the jump seat vs with the car like center console idk why people like center consoles you can't stretch your legs around really either.

Takes 30-45 to remove the center console if you are prepared with tools. 30-45 to get the wiring harness off of the console. You could do this quicker than I did if you were prepared and fast. The holes on the seat I bought aligned with a different set of holes on the base.. I just found some bigger screws that worked solid. I am waiting for the front panel in the mail.. my guess is I have another hour or so of this and I will be done. Total for me will be around 2.5-3 hours working on it.

Any chance to keep the rear air with a swap like this? Was the main challenge to that the ducting that would be exposed, or something else?

I sold the rear air ducting with the rear console. They’re sort of connected. When you swap the rear console out for a seat, you seal off the opening and no longer have rear air.
Thanks for posting this video, helped me big time! Doing the exact same with my 2021 Lariat. Have you ran into any issues with the aluminum tape covering that duct or it falling off? Ive been trying to find an actual piece that either covers it completely or a 2 to 1 that combines the open one with the duct that runs under the carpet. Also, for the accessory power/cigarette lighter on the front trim, did you have to configure it similarly to how you did the usb ports next to it, by snipping and soldering some new wire to relocate?
Glad it helped! I haven’t run into any issues with the aluminum tape. Unfortunately, that was the only option because the ducting that was already there will not fit under the seat is. I really wanted AC to the back still but couldn’t figure out a way to do it as USB port honestly don’t remember, but if I had to spice wires, it was in the video. If I didn’t, it would probably just show me hooking them up. I’m pretty sure they were tucked underneath because that was sort of a location of them before the changeover
yeah man i wish i could talk to you about this! love to get a parts list (I know im being lazy lol). My wife and i have 4 kids and our truck has become the family vehicle on trips and we want the 6 seat king ranch. I have decided to buy one and do this conversion. The fact that Ford doesn't offer a front bench seat across all trims and packages is one of the dumbest things I can think of. I think the sales would be more than a console if it were an option. Because there's really no major drawbacks to it, but there are lots of benefits. Especially with the new desk thing they have on the 2023 models. A platinum truck with that? Hell yeah.
Do you happen to have the part numbers for the trim pieces? Also did the front cup holder come with the seat? Looking to do exactly the same to our 2021 we just bought. TIA

Great vid! How many hours do you think it took? Assume someone going slow and steady...
It took me a couple of days. Probably 2 (total of 6-8 hours) trying to figure stuff out and such. The wiring took a bit of time. Relocating some of the outlets and lights etc was time consuming as well. If it was just a straight swap of console/seat and trim it could easily be done in about 2 hours.
@@pennesnatcherinc Like a lot of things we get into, we spend as much time staring, measuring, googling, and scratching our heads as we do doing the work. But those are usually the most rewarding jobs.
Do you lose the air vents in the back? Or were you able to retain them?

Hey have you any issues with Ford Sync since swapping anything out? They offer that lower trim piece that goes under your A/C controls, the one with the usb and 12V plug, with or without Sync. I noticed yours did not have the sync option. Assuming it has some other wire harness plug or something to do with it.
I just put the usb module that was in my console in that lower trim piece. I have not had any issues with my sync 3 system that I have noticed. I usually just use CarPlay and call it a day though. Does that answer your question?
What was the number for the seat?
Would have parts numbers for those dash components? I'm struggling a little to find exact parts... That new center dash component with usb and 12v plug, and the AC vent panels?
I wish I did. Sorry for not keeping that info! I went into ford and had them look up the same year with the trim I wanted and got them that way.

One question how does the rear bracket mount up does it use the existing console bracket combined with the rear jump seat bracket or just the jump seat bracket
If I remember correctly, The console bracket I had fit the Jump seat I bought without Any issue
How did you go about purchasing a jumpseat & all the other materials needed for the conversion? I have a buddy with a 2019 looking to do this. Any help, details, or part #'s would be appreciated.

sorry! thought i already responded to this one...i purchased the middle seat on ebay and contacted a local upholsterer to do it. the only things i had to personally purchase was seat and the replacement plastic pieces from ford. the seat material was done by the guy i paid to upholster the seat. hope this helps!

Did you have to thread the bolts on the console bracket? Mine just look like metal tubes with no threads.

@@pennesnatcherinc yeah I looks like there’s a threaded and I threaded version. Mine isn’t threaded so I’m trying to find out what size bolt it is. It looks like it’s metric. I tired to tap it using a 3/8 tap and it seems a little small.

It’s all good. I’m going to get a 10mm tap today and see if that fits better. I can order the pre-threaded brackets on eBay but would rather just get it tapped than pay for new ones.
