I might can watch it if you talk about BF 1751 essay and what he said about the swarty nations of Europe thanks
After enjoying this splendid account of Ben Franklin's more than deserved place in American History, it was a rude shock to encounter the outpouring of pure distain and hatred toward everything American gushed, ad nauseum, by some person with less than accurate knowledge of recent events of which he obviously disapproved. However, he, himself, did disprove one point very well: We Americans do recognize propaganda when we see it!
Great Narrative Content & Delivery
An amazing and awesome life of an inventor Statesman Diplomat Etc!
The problem with the Founding Fathers was Benjamin Franklin was not Thomas Jefferson and Thomas Jefferson was not a librarian. Benjamin Franklin a true genius for knowing how thing tick seen that all religion is teaching LOVE! CHARITY AND GOOD WILL TOWARDS ALL MEN. But THOMAS JEFFERSON A BAD BAD BAD GUY DECIDED WE CANT HAVE RELIGION BECAUSE ITS NOT THE STATE OF POLITICS OR THE CHRISTIANS GOVERNMENT IT BELONGS TO US NOT YOU!
Ben Franklin is one of my role models. I read his autobiography in my 20's and tried to conduct myself according to his principles. I'm in my 60's now and remain a trusted and respected member of my community! Thankin' Franklin!
Do you have any advice on how to conduct his principles?

If only we all could improve or endeavor to follow this mans works.
Seems you too lacked his '13th' principal of 'good' conduct...
He was a credit to Family, His Nation, and to Humanity. Hall of Champions. Benjamin Freakin' Franklin....I Salute you!
Benjamin’s quote “Those who would give up essential liberty only to purchase temporary safety do not deserve liberty or safety” really needs to be remembered nowadays.
In the millions? I doubt that.

Today's time, we see writers, tradesmen, intellectuals, theologians, politicians, scientists, and engineers as separate things, but all of the great men of our history were all of the above.
Inspiring folks indeed.
Examples of the concept of the Renaissance Man.
Sadly this truth is NOT being taught in our education system. How sad.
@@traceyyerxa7683 Also not being taught is that the printing press, so important for the dissemination of ideas was first invented in China.
I would think that our modern intellectuals could benefit greatly from real world experience, such as in the trades.

Whenever somebody asks that "if you could have dinner with anyone, living or dead" party question, my first answer is always Ben Franklin. Such a fascinating man!
Jim Morrison?
As I have just finished reading an abridged version of Franklin's autobiography, this documentary reinforces what I learned from that literary work. To wit: Ben personified the universal man, American style.
That Dr. Franklin did not seek patents for his inventions tells you everything to know about him. Unselfish, yet self-assured.
I read “The First American” by HWBrand, about Ben. Better character than other smart guy of that era, Jefferson
Oh Benjamin could be a pain in the arse... A tad selfish. In fact, that was a leading criticism of his character during his lifetime and sent his motives into question. Was he in it for The Colonies or for Benjamin's ego?? Especially with the French ladies lololol😂❤
Anyone that brilliant Has to be a bit eccentric!!!
@@sunnyadams5842 The guy always knew what the best move was.
Much admiration for his desire to help others all his life! Defiantly a man needed in that time.
Never knew Franklin was involved in the anti-slavery movement, let alone was head of a anti-slavery institution. He really was a pioneer for liberty and democracy. Hats off to him! 🇺🇲
Glad to hear he passes your standards of a good person.
I know its trendy, but you don't need to wring your hands about slavery anymore. Its been abolished for over 150 years.
@@bewilderedbrit8928 You were in jail and got out today? Hahahah what a joke.
Hamilton was also anti-slavery. When the government was set up the House of Representatives were based on each states population, the southern states counted their male slaves as 3/5 a citizen, ensuring more Congressmen for their states, even though the slaves weren't afforded any human rights. How convenient...
Slavery is still relevant as a pattern of disenfranchising black folks: voting rights, housing discrimination, poor education, and over incarceration rates are very much their reality today.

Benjamin Franklin obtained immortality through his works and intrigue. May he continue to be remembered as an exemplary statesman, scientist, and citizen.
Don't forget slave owner. _"Exemplary statesman, scientist, citizen, and slaveowner."_ Franklin would have wanted it that way. According to this documentary, after returning to America from London, he resolved it within himself to always speak the truth.
People like this are needed now. Enlightened thinkers.....
Indeed, the quality of our leaders has waned somewhat.
@@zuverzagmail that's strange since conservatives venerate the founding fathers while the actual "Woke left" destroy statues and have them removed from public places, and I'm not referring to confederate statues I'm referring to Washington, Jefferson, and many more. Even Lincoln though not a founding father but a pillar of American past great leadership. I think you are little confused on what the Right actually thinks, which is a comman problem. Ive been summoned by God who said he is handing the nations over to me - Isaiah 55 "NIV." Leadership by all means - but you have to cut the weeds down too. Just like a garden - you go playing nanny games with the weeds yr good plants will be choked while you waste yr time getting behind. Executions on the spot is called for. Its many nations joined under a Single King- from God as Judge Jury and Executioner in one package. This is bible meaning "he will strike the nations with the sword of his tongue - he wil rule them with an iron scepter" {meaning rifle - as I have been told by God}. Vision God and Jesus blog Trut33 early posts. Yes he was an extraordinary man - and like many - God made them and directed through the path of hard graft. Saying? A Good Ruler can only be as good as the quality of his people!" That is why there are two End time / Last Days Rulers = Kings {no pomp!} but only after Gods Day of Wrath / Cleanup will Jesus be able to Rule and be the loving merciful good Ruler - because every trace of rot will be uprooted . wiped out. But he is ineffective for the people of this world. He is obviously the son in the parable of the vine yard owner - the Rulers God sends in the end know to execute the rodents on the spot - until the novalty wears of / delusions like religions set in and 'is this the good man or the bad man / a Hitler / Stalin ....baah they say.' I believe Satan is the parable of the prodical son - both Jesus and Satan are Gods Sons and God / they - know Good and Evil and you must master good over evil.

More like Fox news of the 1770's. Gotta love American exceptionalism mixed with heroic idealism. They were wealthy capitalists seeking to capitalize on slave labor, tax free. Everything else is a fairy tale.
The people of those centuries were made of stuff you don't see today. They were hugely ambitious with big ideas and a seeming boundless energy. Just sailing back and forth to Europe is a massive undertaking, people complain about jet lag today, try sailing in a large wooden ship back then and see how bad jet lag really is. After more than 50 years studying American history I can firmly state that Dr. Benjamin Franklin was the keystone of our founding fathers. It is proper to remember him with honor and respect.
No one will ever stand above Washington. This man single handedly kept the army together and his strategic vision won the war. Washington was being shot at and cannnonaded along with his troops. He slept in tents much of the time out in the elements and had to deal with disease, starvation, mutiny and backstabbing from his own officers. God Bless Franklin. He is the greatest ambassador in American history but he was bathed in luxury in France with opulent lodges, plenty of food, plenty of women and a warm bed to sleep in every night.
@@CC-jl7jz Washington had the most inconsistent fortunes as a Military leader in American History. He was a genius of sorts and a fuck up depending on the Year.

The most common thread of the founding fathers-courage in the face of adversity. Few today qualify!
Very nicely done. Benjamin Franklin was a great man and helped create a great nation and enrich the human condition.
The founding fathers were amazing. Thry put in place the framework for freedom, free enterprise prosperity, and the eventual abolition of slavery. The British eventually decided to abolish slavery and forced tte reluctant Ottoman Turks to reduce slavery. The last thing Franklin did was to petition for abolition of Slavery. The declaration of independence in 1776 was a great milestone for establishing a great nation
Britain still is like slave island by george washingtons standards today
There were independent movements afoot in Britain for the abolition of slavery. There was also the realisation that the slave trade was no longer expedient. The British colonies abolished slavery some six years before the Americans did.
HE WAS GREAT AND WITH HUMILITY TEACHING THE WORLD
Benjamin Franklin a giant of a man not surpassed documentary excellent

But the higher code no idea other than WÌßHÍÑĢ

Philadelphia, 1787. The delegates to the Constitutional Convention are just leaving Independence Hall, having decided on the general structure for the new United States. A crowd had gathered on the steps of Independence Hall, eager to hear the news. A sturdy old woman (sometimes referred to as “an anxious lady”), wearing a shawl, approached Benjamin Franklin and asked him, “well, Doctor, what do we have, a republic or a monarchy?” Franklin replied sagely, “a republic, if you can keep it.”
