In the 90's I had black high top skates, possibly Sears brand from the 1970's. My wheels were very rubbery and yellow. I wish I knew what models and specs each had. Man I had such a great time.
Yesterday I got skates in the mail. Size 12 Chicago 805's. I cannot figure out the size or hardness of the wheels(805).
Do you have a preference for bearings for outdoor skating? I plan to skate mostly on roads, sidewalks, and bike paths. So you think which size/hardness is best for that? Thanks. Enjoyed the video.
i keep the luminous wheels on my skates (a mix of white, pink and blue), and when i skate around my town at night people get so pumped! i get tons of compliments. plus they are so bright that they kind of help me see the ground too. love them so much.

1:30 Love that faceplant! 😂 Thanks for your broad coverage of wheel choices. I just ordered Bont roller skates and waiting for delivery. The last time I put on a pair was in 1965 when I was 12 years old. I was a fairly decent skater then but I'm not sure if skating skills are retained like cycling. I only know that broken bones don't heal well after a certain age. I'm physically active with cycling (fixie) and riding motorcycles on a daily basis, so I'm confident that balance is not an issue at this time. I plan to skate at night along this promenade that stretches by the riverside and the pavement quality varies so I'm already anticipating changing wheels.

As a 43 year old, PLEASE take photos of yourself and your friends skating and of your gear. I skated a lot in the 90's in Cherry Valley, ILL., and yet I don't think I have a single photo of it, or of my skates or wheels. I do not know what company or specs each were, and it is upsetting, because my yellow, gummy wheels were sooooo good for skating. Now I have to experiment to try to find the right size/hardness.

The ones that came on my suregrip stardust skates are amazing. Idk what they are. They are black and kinda boring but they feel soooo nice
i’ve had my skates for a couple years but often lose my mood to skate cause being a beginner can be a little embarrassing but summer is approaching and i wanna have a fresh start…which do you think are the best for a beginner outdoor skater so wants to just get comfortable but also start to learn some basic tricks and what not?

You said the radar energy are really good for outdoors, but what about the indoors with a smoother surface? Am i gonna be able to move freely as well? Like trying to do some dance moves and basic tricks for a begginer obviously, thank you!
Radar Energy are good indoors and out. Harder wheels 90a and above are good if you indoors only. I've been using Radar Energy on my quads for years.

Probably won't skate outside right away, I'll likely just skate around the house. For now I have a military salute on my ice skates this Saturday for my grandpa and other korren war veterans. I wanted to put what you call the switcheroo but my coach won't allow it and last time I tried that I fell.
