I was here in about 2007. The basement is real. However, it is very damp and a lot of records are severally water damaged. But, yes, if you take your time you can and will pull out alot of awesome stuff!

I am the third generation of SANGEET MAHAL home of Indian Film Music mainly of old Bollywood Films we have a huge stock of Records unfortunately we do not sell them we have been in operation since 1977 we started off by selling audio cassettes in our store Sweet Melody in Jackson Heights New York then in 1981 we started distribution and a mail order through out North America, Canada, England & India then In 2000 we started the CDs up until 2015. Sales have been very slow in the past 2 yrs so now we have officially stopped. Now I upload songs here on my youtube page SANGEET MAHAL 2 I do my best to get them digitalized for upload.
I also want to mention that my dad had supplied plenty songs such as LPs to HMV and Rpg the indian music brands now known as Saregama when they could not locate there songs I was told. I think they ran out the movie songs for Shola Aur Shabnam,Paras, Taj etc.the list goes on.This was between 1989 - 1996 for HMV then 1996 - 1999 for RPG this is a big name music retailer my dad made a lot of money. I believe in giving back back to the people to music lovers only selected ones of my choice on my you tube page after all these years music should be for free the ones that are old or very old, given away for free as the phrase goes giving back to the people.
