Retail had it on sale for $20-$30, that’s why Neil Druckmann went on Twitter and attacked gamers over TLOU2.

Gran Turismo 7 is amazing. I'm not really a racing game fan, but I've got a PSVR 2 and it was supposed to be awesome in VR, so I got it over the holidays when it was on sale. Holy crap is it awesome. I can really see why it's so popular and the highest grossing game in the series. As for physical games, I think there are a lot of reasons why their sales have declined. A big one is convenience (both having to go out to buy or order and wait for it to arrive, and also changing disks), but the bigger factor imo is what you get on your disk. Buying physical games for me was mostly about feeling safe knowing I could play the game as long as I had working hardware. These days, you often don't get a functional version of the game on disk. You need to download additional files or updates, and if the servers hosting those files go down, your disk is basically useless. Also games so frequently launch in a broken state, and that's what's pressed to the disks, again requiring updates to make the game playable. It's massively eroded the benefits of physical media, and with the shift to digital, our rights and ownership privileges have been greatly diminished. Sad times.
Phil just insured no one will buy an xbox console ever again when you can get their games anywhere. Just become a 3rd party publisher and drop out of the console space and be done with it.

I'm happy that GT7 is doing big numbers for Sony, but I just wished that they didn't forget the fans of Gran Turismo that just like to do a single player campaign Offline... Just have a drm free offline single player mode for those who appreciate it because that won't hurt the online component in any way, and you'll be making everyone happy
One of my favourite things is going to a gaming shop, browsing, chatting and then buying a physical game. When you get home and open that case, the smell is nostalgic, some games I just want to play once, I can resell for almost full price or trade in. Don't buy digital, it has no point other than laziness!

Didn’t insomniac got the license back for sunset overdrive? If that the case they should be bringing that to PlayStation and hopefully Dona part 2. I know sunset overdrive sold poorly on Xbox and I own it on Xbox one. Love the game

Let me be blunt and say that the "leaks" more than likely originated from the XBOX camp as a way of temperature checking, and after the generally positive reception of the recent direct (even with the clear presence of Sony's branding all over the show), they are now ready to unleash the salvo. The round of interviews from Phil is laying the groundwork. Regarding the shift to digital, unfortunately, Sony as a publisher, would favor all digital consoles since it locks the consumer to their walled garden where they have all the control. Sony is a corporation, and their last concern is our feelings as consumers 😢.
Microsoft have always been a software company and I 100% welcome them going the publisher route. I am happy they got with Team Ninja and are funding to bring Ninja Gaiden 4 to multiple platforms. I really hope they are willing to work with other developers to bring back some classic gems to modern hardware.
I’m just nervous about the possibility of nobody buying their next consoles, then they spiral downward until they cancel the hardware. I don’t care about other people playing Xbox games. I’m. Xbox is forced to go this third party route because of their failure in the One generation. Digital libraries were built during that time and people are now tied to a platform. But I think it’s pretty clear that PlayStation will eventually do the same. There’s way too much money to be had and these high production games they make are becoming obscenely expensive. They tried to recoup a lot of that cost with these live service games but they failed. They already won the console war so they don’t need exclusive games to sell them anymore. It’s the only logical conclusion but obviously they’re in a position where they can hold out longer.
I hope they release Fable day one on PS5 otherwise I won’t buy 2 or 3 years later.. I like Starfield but I would only buy for at least 50% off since the game is been out for 2 years now.. hype is dead..

All that corporate analysts look at is percentages. If the numbers, let’s say, drop to 3%, absolutely, there will be no more physical game production. Than again, boutique companies are doing well by producing special editions of films; These companies pay the studios a certain amount of money to be able to make a steelbook or such. That’s the only thing keeping physical media in the film space from saying goodbye.
While I'll never game on Windows, I can easily see myself getting a Steam Machine instead of an all-digital PS6. Support for physical media is one of the reasons I play on console.
The next-gen will be digital only, both PS6 and the next xbox. We don't even know if Switch 2 will have physical games, i mean Nintendo confirmed backwards compatibility for digital/physical Switch 1 games. But the Switch 2 games could be 100% digital.

I am disappointed with the output of Playstation studio games. I love Playstation and have supported them greatly this gen. PS5 Pro with a disc drive, Dualsense Edge, Playstation Pulse 3D, and Playstation VR2 are all in my possession, but I would be lying if I said I wasnt disappointed with their output of 1st party games. Excited for Ghost of Yotei and Intergalatic but everything else is meh to me including Wolverine and Astro Bot. I need those big budget story driven games. People make fun of PS games and say theyre walking simulator interactive movies but those are my favorite PS games. I have hope that they will turn it around but I'm a little more skeptical than I usually am.

Lost faith in Insomniac ! 1) They collaborate with Sweet Baby Inc. 2) They Nerfed Ratchet in Rift Apart so that Rivet can have the spotlight. 3) They disrespected Peter Parker in Spiderman 2 in addition to setting up his replacement at the end of the game... I don't trust them anymore, not to mention that I saw how they made Jean Grey look extremely ugly in the Wolverine leaks... They can F themselves.

Regarding the shift to digital, unfortunately, Sony as a publisher, would favor all digital consoles since it locks the consumer to their walled garden where they have all the control.

Microsoft have always been a software company and I 100% welcome them going the publisher route. I am happy they got with Team Ninja and are funding to bring Ninja Gaiden 4 to multiple platforms. I really hope they are willing to work with other developers to bring back some classic gems to modern hardware.
I’m just nervous about the possibility of nobody buying their next consoles, then they spiral downward until they cancel the hardware. I don’t care about other people playing Xbox games. I’m. Not petty like that. However I don’t want Xbox as a console to go away. I have years of games, and DLC I don’t want to evaporate 😕

Xbox is forced to go this third party route because of their failure in the One generation. Digital libraries were built during that time and people are now tied to a platform.
But I think it’s pretty clear that PlayStation will eventually do the same. There’s way too much money to be had and these high production games they make are becoming obscenely expensive. They tried to recoup a lot of that cost with these live service games but they failed.
They already won the console war so they don’t need exclusive games to sell them anymore. It’s the only logical conclusion but obviously they’re in a position where they can hold out longer.
No need to get a PS. Just get a pc. Ponies are not buying enough 1st party games, so i get to play them on Steam

All that corporate analysts look at is percentages. If the numbers, let’s say, drop to 3%, absolutely, there will be no more physical game production. Than again, boutique companies are doing well by producing special editions of films; These companies pay the studios a certain amount of money to be able to make a steelbook or such. That’s the only thing keeping physical media in the film space from saying goodbye.
While I'll never game on Windows, I can easily see myself getting a Steam Machine instead of an all-digital PS6. Support for physical media is one of the reasons I play on console.

I am disappointed with the output of Playstation studio games. I love Playstation and have supported them greatly this gen. PS5 Pro with a disc drive, Dualsense Edge, Playstation Pulse 3D, and Playstation VR2 are all in my possession, but I would be lying if I said I wasnt disappointed with their output of 1st party games. Excited for Ghost of Yotei and Intergalatic but everything else is meh to me including Wolverine and Astro Bot. I need those big budget story driven games. People make fun of PS games and say theyre walking simulator interactive movies but those are my favorite PS games. I have hope that they will turn it around but I'm a little more skeptical than I usually am.
