@MartinRodriguez-li6xs You can say that, but Sony seems to have a history copying Xbox. Usually, when Xbox spear heads something, they closely follow suit. Just look at how Sony started to bring their exclusives to PC, especially after seeing how well they were selling for Xbox.
Having purchased consoles and games for more than 40 years, I don’t recall any game company advocating exclusivity as pro consumer…it’s like most products…you purchase the item because you like what it offers (eg vhs vs Betamax, HD-DVD vs Bluray, Nintendo vs Sega, Atari vs Intellivision)…it’s called capitalism and consumer choice

Xbox has evolved to the point were the games are not exclusive - Gamepass is exclusive (in the console space). I think it is smart of Xbox to see that the future of gaming is not tied to a single device, if you can play Xbox games on a console, or pc, or tablet or phone. This is a good thing.
I find little things like the controller, quick resume and cloud saving much better reasons to play Xbox than what games are on it. 99% of them are the same games anyway
Steam, Tencent, Fortnite, Apple Arcade even. Those are for sure who they're competing against. I think they made the smart decision to conceed that they lost their chance to out console Sony at their own game after they fucked up the Xbox One launch, and with the console market topping out anyway, do they really WANT to spend all that effort trying to beat Sony anymore when they can just play a whole different ballgame.
I’ve saved so much money with GamePass. I was originally PCMR, but eventually picked up an Xbox since I already had GamePass and wanted to play in the living room. If PS5 games get ported to PC eventually anyway, I don’t feel the need to get a PS5 either
That’s Xbox’s plan. To lose a bit of money by having day ones on GP for a low price while they shift from consoles and fully rollout GP and force ppl to buy a full subscription at whatever absurd price they want soon as their entire plan is implemented. It’s Microsoft so they can afford to keep losing money for the long game
@@firerock277 I don't have an xbox but still use Gamepass. It's been great for testing games (starfield cough) and playing through games I may not normally buy. The first question a new gamer or their parents ask a store clerk is: "Can it play " Clerk: "No, that's only on ". I'm glad that's probably soon gone, at least from Western Devs. Some Asian devs, especially from Japan, might still be stuck on PlayStation for the coming decade, but that will go away, too. But at that point it will feel to them like being stuck, the Japanese devs will want to get out of those exclusivity contracts.
Last I checked video game consoles do not equate to ‘playing PlayStations game’ (Sony are part of the console market, they don’t dictate it). Microsoft entered the console market and like many others (eg Sega) they shifted focus as they failed in the console market
Console market is capped little bro, they are a business, they are about the money. They could not give 2 fuks about consoles. After all, for all the Sony console sales, they are third place when it comes to profit. Sony are a tiny company compared to Microsoft, so they best follow suit of sega themselves

Call me crazy but.... Ignoring the actual hardware sales, I think Xbox is doing better than PlayStation right now. Xbox has at least games I can look forward to and which I'm actually going to buy. Yes I'm going to play them on my PC or if possible on my steamdeck. But I'm going to play them. I can't say the same thing about Sony. It just looks like they have a bunch of concords lined up and ready to go

@TheNightman. Okay to be fair... I've never played a doom game before. The new one pretty much only grabbed my attention because of the medieval theme.... I'm looking forward to it
If you’re a game pass guy I think the direction they’re going with releasing everywhere is pretty exciting. The revenue they generate from PS and Nintendo will probably help them a bunch with keeping gamepass alive. It also probably gives themselves leverage with third party devs too since they can make a gamepass deal with the devs knowing they sell it everywhere else on top of it. More players and more money for the devs.
Xbox has always had emphasis with western developers. PlayStation with Japanese ones. The biggest problem is that so many western devs have just been on a downward spiral recently. There’s a real problem with quality in western game development (a problem that affects both consoles just Xbox to a greater degree) and until that’s resolved Xbox will struggle. Do you want more devs shuttering because of exclusivity? Because that would happen if Xbox didn’t change their strategy. I can see them turning round soon they’ve got some great upcoming titles
Wait what am I missing? The identity of Xbox since forever has always been a platform to facilitate the playing and creation of games. Their identity is rock solid with what its always been.
But that’s the problem…their games have been dog shxt for years and they keep relying on old titles that nobody cares for anymore instead of creating new and interesting stuff.
the identity of xbox for years was their own games, their own fp studios etc. They are going third party and even to other consoles like PS because they have nothing, because xbox is failing. Copium
Too bad they've either been releasing boring games or shutting down studios. The ONE game they put out that has people talking and rated highly, is one where they shut their studio down.
@kavid8120 yep that's why they essentially gave up and bought out other relevant IP 😂 Worrisome because they struggled to maintain the ones they owned prior.
I think that what we are seeing is an absolutely brilliant move to the idea that he sees what’s coming that we haven’t accepted yet, which is that it’s the end of the console as we know it. PlayStation one the console, wars, hands-down, no doubt. But it’s pretty much already dawning that they’ll never be one like that again, I think the PC has assured that.
Well, fanboyism on the ps side like that champagne guy saying "we won!" Is not good either. It seem like people forget that when there is no competition (in this case with hardware), the other guy will do whatever they want... and that's not good for anyone.

@@kevinlist3330 its a bad thing for the box. Then again, no one cares about xbox because MS refuses to actually make good games as Phil stated. They might as well become a publisher because they have no creativity and only go around buying up studios and shutting them down.

They are dropping Xbox hardware and becoming third party. They are just drawing out the process because so many people have spent years/thousands of dollars in their ecosystem. Letting them down easy.
Microsoft is now just a bigger version of SEGA now in the history of consoles lol. "We're pivoting our strategy to focus less on consoles and more on the software side." That's called a developer/publisher. It's not new or unique to do this. It's a good pivot and they definitely needed to with such a crappy current generation of consoles. It's just weird to try and spin this as anything else than they've decided to be a publisher. They're the same as EA or Ubisoft in that they make a home site that hosts their games. If you buy the game on Steam it'll probably create an Xbox popup to sign into your xbox account to play the game. I've been predicting this since 2018. This road map has existed somewhere for a long time now it would seem
So I’ll have to have GP in order to play their games? How much will GP cost once their plan is fully implemented? Will it be cheaper to just buy the game outright or will I have to have an Xbox/GP account to play it ?
@ No. They'll add back in a feature (much better hopefully) they took out while trying to figure out this whole streaming thing. They had a "Microsoft Games" account thing for a short minute that would have you sign into your xbox account for the gamerscore when playing certain PC games (I think Warhammer Dawn of War 2 would be an example). It was clunky then because there was no reason to do it. Now with Xbox ditching the console, gamepass existing, and Microsoft becoming a glorified publisher I would bet they bring this back. You won't need gp to play the games, but you'll be asked to sign into your xbox account to be able to transfer saves across any platform (and collect data). GP will just be to get earlier access to microsoft games, maybe special discount perk, in-game extras, or other "nice if you have it" perks I would guess
Gamepass is the only marketable reason to buy an Xbox to a large audience . It truly the best value not only in gaming but I’d argue in any entertainment medium . I'm really struggling to figure out their long-term goal here with GamePass because realistically speaking, most users already entrenched into other econosystems aren't going to buy into GamePass or Xbox just because they published their games to other platforms. GamePass only caters to those already within the Xbox ecosystem. Same gose for PS+ and NSO, and you'll still have to rebuy your games for other platforms not directly controlled by Microsoft. How do they expect GamePass to grow? Everyone who wants it already has it.
Itlll grow once they start creating new and unique games that gets people interested. I think they should make big expensive games here and there but they should just make smaller unique games that start trending out of nowhere like OnlyUp, Fall Guys, Among Us etc.
Because of the value of game pass. What’s better value for parents? Buy into the ecosystem where you can afford to get them maybe 2 or 3 games a year or into the ecosystem that has game pass with access to over 400 games. With new aaa titles and 3rd party titles added regularly. Which you can then invest into the games they really enjoy. Instead of games that turned out not to be as fun as they thought they would be.
That's not my understanding. Microsoft’s published games will be bought once, will work on every platform that allows a Microsoft account sync, and your save files will be on cloud, so no need to rebuy the same games, unless PlayStation refuse to allow you to sync your Microsoft account
As someone with an Xbox, PC and PS5. I still prefer buying games on the Microsoft side for Xbox Play Anywhere. I’m so mad I wasted money on GoW Collectors Edition and I want to replay it on PC and I can’t. It actually sucks and is anti-consumer. Apple even getting sued for stuff like that.
Playanywhere is great but still 90% of my owned games arent supporting it and doesnt benefit the people who only play on Xbox Console like me i dont want to play on pcs, phones. Lets say if microsoft says we are not making consoles anymore its not worth it i will for sure get a playstation and all my games are not playable there. I keep hearing that microsoft doesnt care how many consoles they sell, but I think thats nonsense. If your hardware is constantly down, at some point they pull the plug. Without exclusive games, i think the next Xbox console will sell even worse which can lead to less game pass subs. Time will tell. There are some legitimate concerns with this strategy, of course there are people who always overreact lol. I would have switched consoles immediately if I could but I have over 1000+ games on my account, so im trapped on the xbox console. Phils vision is constantly changing not long ago in 2023 he lit. said they are not a multi platform publisher and how imortant exclusives are :D. I dont know how they want to sell hardware they arent focused on it anymore, they supposedly had the most powerful console on the market and I still can't play black myth wukong and had to miss out on baldurs gate 3 at launch but he can make sure that the ps5 pro gets the best versions of xbox games. Everything what xbox is doing now doesnt benefit people who mainly or only play on xbox console.
Starting at Xbox One (remember tv, tv, tv) Xbox developed, released and abandoned many business plans. It feels that every new thing Phil pulls out of his ass they smack against a wall and see if it sticks but that is tough when it isn't good shit but diaria...
Man, Phil has been trying to change the industry's direction for a decade now and he still hasn't made a difference in that regard because he keeps making Xbox hardware irrelevant.
its not a new tact that Xbox is doing, they're just pulling a Sega but with more of an application incentive for game streaming if that even able to reinstate themselves because the distribute or their games to other digital fronts like steam may cost them more. Not to mention the studios they purchased being shutdown one by one and titles flopping or not making a significate amount of return. not mention game pass though with prices increasing they may not be able to make up for the deficit of title that may coast them millions to make and expecting people to buy the title for 60$ but is instead the title is a day one game pass title.
There is only one danger here for the gaming industry. Without a 'real' competitor to the Playstation, it might shift into a console monopoly for Sony. Competition is needed for an industry to keep growing. Btw, Nintendo is for a different market in my opinion.
Nintendo was, but with leaks showing how much third party support they are getting and I guess it was leaked that Nintendo online is finally going to have party chat. So I believe Nintendo will be their main competitor for third party titles.
I think most of the growth in that market is in PC anyway. With Sony following Xbox's move to bring their games to PC, it's pretty clear that theyve realised that. It will be interesting to see if that keeps them honest or not
My XB is stuffed full of legacy copies of old 360 games - but its contemporary line-up is mediocre generally, and easily surpassed by the amount of better exclusives on my PS5. I don't believe Microsoft genuinely have any interest or competency in their Gaming division.
Exclusives and a bigger support from China/Korea/Japan? No region lock on Japanese titles. LIke Play asia is doing Physical release for Ninja Giaden 2 Black, I can buy that and pop it in my US PS5 and still play english or english subtitles. If you are the type of person who has more free time and likes playing lots of different stuff, gamepass is definitely something to look into on xbox platform. I'm the opposite because of my age and just life. SO I buy a couple titles a year and some stuff on sale on my Gaming PC. So for me I prefer just owning a couple titles on PS5 physical and everything else i get on steam because of sales. But there's a reason PS5 is doing so well. And its how they market their console/Games and focus on the content you can only play on said console regardless if its a paid exclusivity deal/published one or first party exclusive.
PlayStation went down hill with the ps5 games for sure. I see now reason to buy an Xbox game pass/netflix=mediocre games doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Pc>nintendo>ps5>>>>…>>>xbox

Makes sense, the point it's making money at the end of the day and now Xbox will get it from everywhere: Nintendo, Playstation, Pc and even from the cloud. Xbox it's now the greatest third party games developer and as long as people play their games in other consoles xbox will continue to exist. It almost feels like cheating. But i have the feeling Sony will copy them as soon as they watch all that money they are making, just like happened when they started to charge to play online and just like gamepass.
Without exclusives there is no competition or need to buy consoles. Xboz does not need to beat PS to be successful. This strategy they have is not a win. Sony is still number one in gaming with M$ being third after Tencent who only has shares in companies without owning any companies or having a network like Live or a streaming service like GP. So I bought a Series X back in 2023 and was disappointed that they are putting games on PS5 when they were already on PC. If I knew that before I would not have bought it since I already owned a PS5. M$ is a trillion dollar company because Windows has no competition and everything outside of Windows has failed except 360 so as a software company they have no succeeded in gaming. Phil did not even answer the question about Xbox, which is the hardware, not software. We do not need these companies working together and you see how bad Sony has been without direct comp. The industry is not changing as you see with Nintendo. Only Sony and M$ has changed. Just look at the facts, both Sony and M$ have not found more success with their new strategies. How long has Gamepass been around and it has not been fruitful. We do not even get sales numbers from their games. If all of those games were just on Xbox it would be more successful for them since more people would be on Live and the console which leads to more money from third party. Being third in revenue after Tencent is showing there strategy is not working. So from a business aspect it has not made them more profitable.

@MartinRodriguez-li6xs You can say that, but Sony seems to have a history copying Xbox. Usually, when Xbox spear heads something, they closely follow suit. Just look at how Sony started to bring their exclusives to PC, especially after seeing how well they were selling for Xbox.

It's always nice to see people lose weight. He looks handsome now
Your wife saying hi sounded like my cat saying hi entering a room xD

That's called a developer/publisher. It's not new or unique to do this. It's a good pivot and they definitely needed to with such a crappy current generation of consoles. It's just weird to try and spin this as anything else than they've decided to be a publisher. They're the same as EA or Ubisoft in that they make a home site that hosts their games.

It won’t grow
That's why you don't work at Microsoft. Coz u can't figure it out.

It will be interesting to see if that keeps them honest or not
@cheeks3211 I dont think so. GTA and the like wont be played on switch consoles. Visa versa with all the mario games for instance.
My XB is stuffed full of legacy copies of old 360 games - but its contemporary line-up is mediocre generally, and easily surpassed by the amount of better exclusives on my PS5. I don't believe Microsoft genuinely have any interest or competency in their Gaming division.
That’s crazy to me he likes the relevant people with the marks but doesn’t interact with any of you💀
It's baffling why anybody would buy a Playstation over a Xbox.
And its how they market their console/Games and focus on the content you can only play on said console regardless if its a paid exclusivity deal/published one or first party exclusive.
baffling is crazy seeing as over 65 million people have and less than half of that number bought xbox’s???

Not Destin, the ultimate lying fanboy.
So you're just clipping Parts of the video DESTIN Ask the question everybody wanted to know Is every game going to PlayStation And Phil Spencer said no They own a lot of studios so yes they will put games on multiple platforms But not all games There will be games that you will only be able to play on game pass not on PlayStation not on Nintendo So I guess it's time for me to unsubscribe cause you're not So I guess it's time for me to answer cause you're not playing the whole You're doing clips to support whatever you doing and not give All the info information
Anyone else see the Double Cheese mishap?
Series S no judgement? Series S makes up for 80% of 9th gen xbox sales. 8/10 people playing indiana jones are only playing it on the S. 🤣

"When you buy Activision, you become Activision".
XBOX MAIN money maker is COD. I believe consoles are just a side project for them now
and their cod titles have been doing less and less each yearly cycle
@@TheNightman.what are you talking about. BO6 had the biggest launch.
I think south of midnight well be their next hi five rush
the only people who would actually complain about this are the psychotic xbox fanboys
@xxDubsy agree they acting like sony ponies so low
Psychotic xbox fan here, I'm all for it. Microsoft’s published games available on all platforms using your Microsoft account login, cross saves and resume quit on all platforms thanks to the cloud technology... and gamepass everywhere 👍
DestinL was one of the people at IGN I always enjoyed seeing in discussions
No one wants to stream the games. The casuals do not pay to rent games nor pay to stream.
Todd is a bad liar. (It just works)
Microsoft is a trillion dollar company because they have a monopoly on PC software, not because they are some innovative ingenious company. 😂
It’s very weird to open up talking about people’s height and weight
Is this Luke's thing ?? Mentioning the height of all these guys and being short lol?? Phils height is 6ft 😂
Idk Phil looks kinda sick to me, I hope he doesn’t have anything
Makes sense, the point it's making money at the end of the day and now Xbox will get it from everywhere: Nintendo, Playstation, Pc and even from the cloud. Xbox it's now the greatest third party games developer and as long as people play their games in other consoles xbox will continue to exist. It almost feels like cheating. But i have the feeling Sony will copy them as soon as they watch all that money they are making, just like happened when they started to charge to play online and just like gamepass.
Trillions with a "T"? So not Rillions or Grillions or Brillions? Or Drillions...shame, would be much more fun with another letter...
So is my ps5 an xbox
crazy how people think exclusivity is a good thing for the customer
It’s crazy that you don’t know how the industry works
@@bdizzle9586I’m sure Shizzley knows all about it…
Without exclusives there is no competition or need to buy consoles.
It is actually insane how badly the xbox one targeting screwed over the xbox console for the rest of it's days. They lost aaaaaaall of the ground at the most important point in console history
They’re trying to force a change in the industry that isn’t needed and they want to be the first ones to profit from it. Like yea Xbox has a few games I’d like to play but I just know they’re gonna find a way to were we have to buy GP in order for us to play them. Yea they’ll let us buy certain games but they’re probably gonna gate keep the best titles under a full GP subscription. I mean that’ll make the most business sense tbh.
@@kavid8120 except it makes 0 business sense when gamers can play it elsewhere. If it's on PC it's either on Steam or on the lesser platform known as epic fail store. If it's fail store gamers wait till it comes to a proper storefront (steam) or if it's locked to fail store it gets ignored and dies. MS has not realised they cannot force people to buy into a shitty subscription service
@TheNightman. Microsoft one of the bigest company on the planet maybe they know how make money and have reasons to make this change. BUT YOU CLOWN KNOW BETTER 🤣🤣🤣WHY YOU CRYING HERE BECAUSE XBOX DOING VERY WELL AND HAVE BUNCH OF GAMES NOW COMING?LOSER🤣
@TheNightman. Mr Elon Musk you are you know better than Microsoft mr business man🤣🤣🤣🤣game pass is a killer buhuu
How tall do you think Phil is? Lol
They aint "shaking anything uo", they are just going to become a third party publisher, thats all, they will abandon the console market just like SEGA.

I love how Phil want to battle exclusivity unknowingly
this is a good decision not just for xbox, but for everyone
Xbox being as bad as they are at managing console audience, they are kings of distribution & have pretty much infinite cloud infra already built, tested & powering millions of web apps, they will win this no matter how hard sony tries, sony is couple of generations behind when it comes to cloud infra compared to xbox. [Saying as playstation fanboy]
they've already lost to sony and PC, xbox sales are down at their lowest, nobody cares about it

Is Phil like Elon and having other people play his account to seem like he’s a gamer 🤔
At least Xbox doesn’t cancel 12 games
Xbox isn't even making games, they just bought studios with franchises that were already in motion.
It’s a good thing Sony cancelled 12 live service games no one asked for

Let them focus on software and services for all. If you're still attached to the box, let it go.

Hello my new name is SEGA
It is fortunate Xbox is becoming a full fledged third party publisher. They are releasing some great AAA single player games, unlike Sony
