Portland will see its first heat wave of the summer. An Excessive Heat Warning starts July 4 for western Oregon as dangerous, hot temperatures target the region.

Panic because it's summertime? And using the term 'record' as a scare tactic? While wearing suits in air-conditioned comfort? Last time I checked, the ocean and rivers are going to be cold, parks and yards with trees will be shady and enjoyable, kids will be playing with garden hoses and sprinklers, and hot food will be served with cold drinks at thousands of holiday gatherings. These are not desparate times. Those who see anyone in trouble, should call 911, regardless of the weather.

The concern is mostly about homeless folks who don't have the ability to just 'go to the ocean'.
