The memories of walking through the portal for the first time and seeing and hearing this...I don't play it anymore but I miss the hell out of this game
you should give legion a try dude. I stopped playing after wrath (I did come back for a few month in pandaria but only lvled up and then stopped) and I must say that legion really made me want to play again and I haven't stopped playing it ever since it came out.
Andy Hargrave Music Or... you could come play on a TBC private server and relive the experience! Check out Hellfire wow, I can't tell you how much fun it's been to play this again with the 2.4.3 patch.
@I will make operational deflector shields legal! something that blizz has sought to shake up ever since BC and blood elves but to no avail, the virginity remains strong
For some reason, people seem to dislike this zone, largely because of the one color scheme of it (the one color being that infected orange, obviously), but I really enjoy this zone. It illustrates exactly the type of shit the Legion & fel energy can do to a planet. Don't get me wrong, I liked Nagrand & the other zones as well, but coming into this zone for the first time and taking it all in was amazing.
I agree.... I mean what do people want from a destroyed planet? I even expected Northrend to be more barren and snowy I felt there was too much variation because I knew it was supposed to be a dead place
The first time I thought it was awesome, but coming back again there was really boring, until you get a fly, you just spend loads of time going one place to another
Most people don't like this zone because of the leveling process. And to be honest, there is not very much zone who are interesting in leveling (sadly because we rush them to be up for new content at max level) But hopefully it's changing at shadowland where you can take the time to fully experiment a whole expansion :)
I absolutely loved this area when I first played BC. It's enviroment, music, and ambiance basically told me that I'm in a strange foreign world with untold monstrosities that lie ahead of me...of course that all changes to pure fear when you hear the terrifying alarm warning you that the massive Fel Reaver that roams the area is heading your way and you need to move, NOW.
My and my friend didn't sleep the night we knew we were about to cross the portal. When I did I got knocked out by hellfire peninsula and this powerful music. Man...best times ever
My favorite is the long droning and the distant echoing voices. This track was so haunting. I wish they could have made this zone to scale and we could see it in the modern art-style of wow. It is a treasure.
A good third of Hellfire soundtrack are stingers, so I had to improvise a little bit with the choice of music tracks. I hope it turned out okay. The ambience though is super lackluster. Literally one one-minute loop. The only itty bitty little thing I found usable for this zone was the Fel Reaver “scream.” Clunky, but eh. Citadel ambience is jarringly different and very bland. Someone also mentioned that transitions I use for every video are too distracting. I made new ones. What do you think? First one should be right after 2:27.
Yes! A new video which I can listen to countless of times. I have never noticed transitions until today, but new one (cross dissolve?) might be less distracting than fade to black and back again. Anyway, great job as always.
It's a combination of gaussian blur and color dodge with custom keyframe interpolations. Boom: i.imgur.com/ErqjS7h.jpg Standard effects (transitions) are boring and lame. If you're already working in After Effects, why not make something cool, right?
First off, love your videos. I am making a fantasy game and I leaves these videos on a separate monitor while I'm modelling, writing code and writing dialogue. Just wanted to start with that. If I'm really looking for it, the increase in color/saturation from the color dodge can be a little distracting. The speed of the transition is also super fast. If you wanted to make the transitions close to unnoticeable, just cross dissolve with an ease out in two seconds. You only really notice transitions if they're fast and bright. If you're looking to get away from standard effects you could also use the after effects camera blur and add a bokeh blur between shots which is a lot of fun and very pretty, too. No bad vibes meant here, just constructive criticism if you wanted it. Keep doing what you're doing.
Thank you! No bad vibes indeed, I love comments like this. I like the idea of using bokeh and I will definitely play around with it for the next one, but allow me to say something just to explain my point of view: none distracting does not necessarily mean unnoticeable. I'm absolutely fine with people noticing the scene change, I just want this change to look somewhat natural. I was using essentially 20 frame long dip to black to (kinda) simulate a blink. In the video above I was trying to make transitions look like your vision adjusting to a new environment. I honestly believe it was a success more than a failure. I don't like that blur fallout at the end though. 5-10 frames too many.
Yes! Finally! My favorite zone for visuals and the music was just epic. Nothing like stepping through the dark portal 1.0 and looking up and seeing that vast space with nebula, planets, etc. Even now, I can't help but look up whenever I fly though that zone
I love this zone, there as a certain peace to it that’s hard to describe. Like the final peace and acceptance of a dying planet. Nagrand was beautiful too but it in a similar vein something felt off, the beauty hid the knowledge that something was wrong about Outland, sickly almost
Fun fact, almost all of the soundtrack for The Burning Crusade was originally created for an older version of Diablo 3 that was in development at the time. That specific version of Diablo 3 was scrapped and its music was moved to TBC.
There are very few things that truly move me, but I have to say 9:03 is one of them. Feelsgoodman. Thanks a lot for uploading these clips Everness, they really truly are very very well made.
You, sir, are getting me through finals. This is the best WoW music channel on the internet. Sorry for commenting on almost every video I've come across haha
I remember mining for Fel iron ore and always on the look out for rogues ready to ambush you and Fel Reapers ready to squash you lol. Those we're good times. Now it's been 8 years since I've played wow and the memory is still fresh. 🗡️🛡️
I first started playing in TBC as a young lad. My first time walking through that portal... I remember the goosebumps. I think I even remember saying "Wow..." out loud. Leveling up was such a magical experience.
BC was the best xpact of them all. Soooooo many memories!!!! The first time having a Fel Reaver shake your screen was magical, and terrifying. Great 5 man's, awesome zones and questlines, attunements, just next level awesome from the first steps through the portal. I've said a bunch of times that i would give up the last 5 years of my life to be able to erase it all from memory and experience it all over again. It's a special place
This has to be one of my favorite soundtracks in all of WoW. That and the fact that this zone is so unique in its appearance, from the first moment you step out of the portal to the way it's laid out it's just great!
When I first entered this area I was blown away how spacey it looks. I loved the atmosphere going from one area to the next not knowing what the area has as far as monsters go.
I love that "shit just got real" moment when you just walk through the dark portal for the first time and you stumble into the massive army of demons and infernals besieging the dark portal and you're just sitting there wondering what the hell is going on
I find myself listening to these soundtracks almost exclusively at work and driving. It's truly just the right ambience where I can keep concentrating on the task at hand. Very well done! Including the video (which I glance at while working but not in the car. :-) . Thank you for this work.
This region really struck me when I first entered it. I expected something like Burning Steppes, but got a gorgeous view on celestial bodies, floating rocks and streams of magic! Btw, 54:00 shows a different meaning of "scarecrow" :)
That moment you're questing in Hellfire Peninsula and hear the Fel Reaver sound and wonder where it's coming from. Then you turn around and see and run for your life!
One of my favorite zone and music in wow. I will have love to discover the game back in the days when the portal open and all people enter this zone, this must have been dope. Such a great game, I will love to hear old players talking about their experiences back then
Thanks so much! There are few things equal in terms of impression made in the game to stepping through the Dark Portal for the first time and... experiencing this surreal scenery of barren wastelands with creepy sky above.
Fun fact: Originally, before WoW released, it was intended that much of what was in Burning Crusade (including the zone itself, it's raids, locations, etc.) were intended to be in the base game, even the level cap was supposed to be 70. However, due to time issues, these ideas were shelved for later and the game released with only a 60-level cap. Of course, these ideas were revived and turned into the first expansion of the game instead.
No one commenting on the beautiful theme from 4:30? Perfectly communicating the vibe of this land: desolate, broken, melancholic and far, far away from home.
Great job on all the videos. I love to listen to them in the car or on walks. My wife and I like to listen to the ambience videos while sleeping. Thank you for uploading.
Man I remember how big of a deal it was for new players to get to 58 and go through the portal for the first time. I was so fucking nervous. Never forget how hyped I was to go there.
Thanks to you, I use your videos as my screensaver. Every time it turns on, it plays a different video of yours that I've downloaded so every time I get to see a new zone!
Damn, I was looking for it no later than yesterday! Thanks for the upload Everness, you're doing an awesome job! I'm currently reading Wow's books and listening to these tracks when reading is great, especially when you switch ambience theme when switching zone in the book :D

I was in 1st grade when I started playing wow (more or less watching my dad and leveling characters to 10) I've been playing ever since and now I'm looking back on all of this as I'm entering college.
@@leanajs ha..dang it, I feel old. I was in my last year of college when Vanilla was out. Maybe a bit late, don't make WoW priority over your grades! I was only 3 classes from graduation...played more than study but managed.
I work 10 to 12 hrs on my computer 6 days a week, but now days, 11 years since i started playing this magical game, every time i feel tired, i listen to this beautiful music, and pretend im still questing and mining, but now the quests of a husband/father
I remember the total beating I took from the mobs at level 58-59 when I first came through the portal into Outlands. LOL! The aggro was insane for a while, and the music was clearly a warning as soon as you stepped through it, that you were not prepared!!! LOL!!! but I loved the challenge of being a bit under-powered and/or under-geared. It helped me improve how I played my class, and tactics as a Mage. I fell in love with all of Outland. TBC was one of the two best expansions made, by far. The other being WoTLK of course.
Draenor zones didnt do the originals justice. Ive been playing alot of TBC servers and never get tired of stepping into Hellfire at 58 on another character

I hope one day you will be able to cover every zone in the game :D
I think Hellfire 1 (36:20) Is SOOOOO good! I love that! It's epic and metal, but still calm and quiet! A perfect mixture of both!
I love the part around 37:00
It has a sort of Borderlands-esque sound
I was in 1st grade when I started playing wow (more or less watching my dad and leveling characters to 10) I've been playing ever since and now I'm looking back on all of this as I'm entering college.
Same :)
@@leanajs ha..dang it, I feel old. I was in my last year of college when Vanilla was out. Maybe a bit late, don't make WoW priority over your grades! I was only 3 classes from graduation...played more than study but managed.
@@freedonx hahah I feel you,
Congrats !
Forget the game.... I’m in it for the music, the design, the art, the culture, the characters, the stories :)
I love the music. It reminds me of a Ennio Morricone theme song.
I work 10 to 12 hrs on my computer 6 days a week, but now days, 11 years since i started playing this magical game, every time i feel tired, i listen to this beautiful music, and pretend im still questing and mining, but now the quests of a husband/father
Same! Been doing this for years
One of the best skybox back in the days with the flowing energy-like nether thingy.
The way world pvp was set up in hfp was so good. Really improved the zone.
Thank you! Such a stressful zone
Neuroneos i love your avi
I LOVE YOU
Remember seeing this for the first time. Overwhelming!
Draenor zones didnt do the originals justice. Ive been playing alot of TBC servers and never get tired of stepping into Hellfire at 58 on another character
This is great! Thank you!
Thank you for all the work you put into this. I really appreciate it.
