I’m sure you will get them all eating. Keep up the great videos. That hold back is a stunner. All my corn snake babies have eaten. Most are up to 3 meals. First 3 clutches of python babies have eaten as well.
We have an adult female but she will only drop feed which is fine, If we try to feed her with Reptile tweezers she will just strike but usually wont take the food item. Anyways thanks for another awesome video
Josh those hatchlings are looking so good, and to see them take down there first meal is fire can’t wait to see the other clutches on their first meal🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just got my baby cal king yesterday. He ate off the tongs one pinkie, but wouldn't take a second one (I think I was overdoing it -- my last king was super voracious). Good to see that you left them in there enclosure if didn't take immediately. Hopefully mine will eat off the floor because it took quite a bit of coaxing with the tongs. But all good considering it was his first day with me. Gonna try that though, so, thanks.
And now it's awesome to see yours ate overnight. I really enjoy keeping snakes, but problem feeders are just a nightmare to me. Stresses me out much more than them in most instances. But now, if he don't take the pinkie off the tongs again, I'll just cover him and it overnight and then hopefully he will go for it like many of yours did. Wasn't sure that would work without any motion from the prey item. Good info.
Thanks and there up there in the store just have to click on an item then go to the cloudcolubrids store and scroll to see all items. To make it easier I just added the link the the videos description. Thanks for the support
My 2y4m aberrant male cal king that I have since he was 6 weeks would strike so fast at those little mice that you would miss it if you blink. He's very food driven. For the rest he never bites me or musked on me. He's awesome.
that's nice for you to share. always nice to see them strike at the rodents. well you have a good snake some do like to take a bite out of the owner lol
Thanks Scott, no I'm not sponsored by coffee or the caffeine industry. I just love it so much I add it in my videos because it relaxes my mind and perks me up at the same time
Glad to see the babies eat. Some good names for your hold backs are Java, arabica, Chino ( like cappuccino) Latte, Starbuck, Moca. You know like coffee related names. You're doing such a great job and it shows with all those babies. I've got baby snake fever lol 😂
Very nice! Could you please share the parameters you keep your cali kings in? I've come across some conflicting info from breeders who like to keep theirs cooler(mid-high 70s) and others who keep their cali kings warmer(low-mid 80s).
Hey John, I have my heat set at 84 and the cool side is around 78. some people like it hotter but heat can kill a snake alot faster than cold. out here we sometimes keep snakes in the room temperature my snake room stays 78-80 I even hatched out snakes with no incubator.
Seems like you had a split success rate on the snakes that ate. It’s odd that one clutch ate well for the most part but the other didn’t. They probably just need a bit more time to get hungry after absorbing the yolk from the egg. I really hope little Lockjaw can eat on it’s own, but assist-feeding may be the only way it’ll be able to grab food at first until it strengthens it’s jaw muscles. Please, please, PLEASE don’t forget me if it does make it. I’m really hoping to be able to get it and tell people I own a Cloud Colubrids snake and give it the extra time and attention it’ll need to thrive. Please keep me updated on the poor little thing’s progress. I watch every video you put out so I’ll keep an ear out during the next few to see if it makes it. Thank you for sharing and considering me for Lockjaw’s adoption if the baby makes it. I really appreciate even being considered for it. ☺️💕
Thank you for watching all the videos and I will definitely keep you posted on the progress of lockjaw. yes it's strange how both clutches of Cali kings hatched 1 day apart and 1 clutch eats and the other dosnt. Buy I'll work with them and they should be fine.
I've never had babysnakes, but I've had very young snakes and got a tip once to try feeding them heated/lukewarm thawed out mousetails when they wouldn't eat the small mice they were supposed to. They ate lukewarm mousetails (clipped from the various sizes larger mice/rats my adult kingsnakes eat) like you wouldn't believe, and by the very short time it took them to go back to pinkies etc there wasn't a mouse in my freezer left with a tail :D I have no idea if same goes for babysnakes but thought I'd mention it, saved mine at least
Hey honey. You seem like a genuinely nice dude! I was wondering if you could tell me if those are rat pinkies or mice pinkies you're feeding with? I have mbk hatching in 42 days and a mouse that just dropped 12 babies. I want to take some to the side for my mbks if that is the size I need. 😊
@@cloudcolubrids4603 thank you SO much for your quick response 😍 I'm genuinely amazed that you took the time to reply to an old video. You've gotten yourself a subscriper dear new friend 😊❤️
@@cloudcolubrids4603hello 😊 It's me again 😊 I just wanted to let you know that my clutch has started to pip today and I wanted to thank you for your help ❤
@Miranoria oh that's alot of fun. Once they pip then you start wondering what exactly they will look like and go back and forth to see if any came out the egg. I have about 30 babies hatch in the past 3 days
Can you please give me some advise.I’m getting a brooks hatchling I have an oak vivarium 41x65x40 for when it’s young.heat pad Is 28x28 and 14 watts.also I’ve got some coconut husk chips but can change to aspen.thanks
sounds good but it's probably too big for a baby. when there really small they like small spaces to feel secure then once it is around 1 year old you can put it in the larger enclosure. you can try to put the babu in this large enclosure now but provide alot of hiding spots. and when feeding make sure it's eating as it will be hard to find her in that big set up. I'm sure as she grows she will love the space.
I had coffee this morning it always helps me to wake up I hope your Cali King Snakes eat soon I can't wait for the next video God bless you Joshua
Awesome I'm drinking one rite now and stay safe
@@cloudcolubrids4603 thank you Joshua you do the same bro

Thanks yeah if it starts eating then I'm pretty sure it will be ok
How are you doing today I hope good are you feeling better

Babies look great! So many hatchlings this year! congrats!!!
Thanks yeah The came strong this year
woah! love the merch!!!
thanks I'll try and add some more stuff on there.
We have an adult female but she will only drop feed which is fine, If we try to feed her with Reptile tweezers she will just strike but usually wont take the food item. Anyways thanks for another awesome video
I have many babies that eat the same way but usually by adulthood they strike and grab. Either way along as the snake eats it really dosnt matter 😃
Josh those hatchlings are looking so good, and to see them take down there first meal is fire can’t wait to see the other clutches on their first meal🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yeah I have more videos on the way.
My two TX rat snakes, I started them in a paper bag, with live new pinkys
yeah that may be an option for some babies. so many different tricks

Congratulations and I normally just feed one pinky then give him larger prey items as he grows but your method is fine if he does go for 2 pinkies.
@@justinkline1294 yes ki gs are amazing but problem feeders are definitely a struggle. They usually come around tho.

Yes I did this method before it works good on tiny snakes. It's good just to get them started as the tail has no nutrition
