When I started getting in to reptile was 1980 I was 10 years old. I had to learn by reading books and trial and errors. Back then we didn’t have technology like we have now. Also watch Mutual of Omaha I still have reptiles to this day and always will .God bless to all 🙏❤️
first terrarium I've ever bought was the one in the thumbnail of this picture. I was a beginner and it was too chaotic to understand all the types of lights and what goes with what (what bulb goes in what fixture). This kit came with everything and it was exactly what I needed to understand the basic stuff. Before that, my baby snakes stayed in boxes with aspen and a desk lamp for circadian rhythm over them. This kit was amazing for what I needed then. Now I have big wooden terrariums and I buy products individually, not in kits. I still have my first glass terrarium and I use it when I update baby snakes from boxes. The only downside of this terrarium is the lack of side doors which may make you look more like a predator coming from above.
Gets you started at least
Nice approach Liam, while most punch down on big box stores, you show what they offer and how you can prepare to do better in a positive manner.👍
Thank you mate
Hey! Quick question on heating I’m hoping you’ll respond soon😂 so I have a 55 gallon (48in x 13in x 21in) and I’m getting a baby cali kingsnake, it is a bioactive enclosure and I have a heat mat for the night on the hot side, my house usually stays around 68 69 degrees so that’s why I have one, what exact bulb and wattage would be good to heat my terrarium up, enough to bring the basking site to the correct temp and enough to bring the cool sides temp up just a little as well? Also my highest heat side point from the screen is 13 inches away from said bulb I’m going to get, really all I need to know is brand name and wattage preferably something with a little uvb as well
the zoo med basking bulbs and the terra intense bulbs are the best ones. id buy a 50w, 75w and 100w and then see which give you the desired temperatures. You can find them here: www.amazon.com/shop/reptilesandresearch
@@ReptilesandResearch thank you very much this is vital !!!
We just got a florida king from a rescue. He isnt mean or skittish. But he tends to want to try to bite us (eat our hands) . He is constantly attempting. We dont handle mice or anything before hand. Is there anything we can do other than just hold him and let him nip us until her figures out he can't eat us?
You can target train them
@@ReptilesandResearch would that be getting him into a routine and feeding in a separate enclosure?
@@taraquin9720 no, there’s target training video specifically on Kingsnakes on this channel because mine used to be bitey
Can you please do a video about wild caught animals like peters banded skinks and fire skinks.
Would love a PB skink video. I have two rescues! (: they’re doing well but care advice on them is so sparse and varied. I’d trust Liam’s advice over anyone else’s.
@@garfieldenjoyer420yep I would trust Liam with everything. But I’m going next year to go visit where they are from.
@@garfieldenjoyer420 you guys… 🥹
Wild caught in general?
@@ReptilesandResearch yeah just any wild caught animals and the downsides to them.
your opinion on zoo med wire clamp lamp n emitter 60 watt bulb .on a 40 x18 x18 enclosure?
that can be fine yeah, its just a fuxture after all, as long as its on top screen and not climbable for the snake
Excited to get a king snake one day and give it a great home (: I’ve fostered one before and they’re awesome! Full of personality
I fully recommend
Could you please do a UVB setup video?
yes i can!
@@ReptilesandResearchamazing!! Quick question too, what size/% UVB lamp would you recommend for a kingsnake in a 20 gallon inclosure? She’s still young
