When I was havin a hard time catchin fish with the hollow body frogs because of I was jumpin the gun on the hooksets, I switched to these and crushed them. It’s like a topwater Carolina rig.
Hell yeah! Loooove toad fishing! My fave is the Stanley Ribbit with a single 5/0 EWG. Crawl it thru pads, over slop, or open-water "buzzbait" it. Great bait!
One summer morning my older brother and I went fishing at this lake, he was very stubborn about using a worm, I used a toad just like that green one you showed. My older brother didn't catch a single fish, I caught 7 large mouths and one of them was my PB for a couple years. My brother stopped doubting me after that.
Good tip, I don't have much confidence in this bait, imo , but never thought of using it after top water has gone dead, I usually just use the toad on a buzz bait, I like these quick tips you do good stuff, Also your long videos are very good with info, but for someone south miniable time, these are nice little tips
I'm gonna have to try some toads out, lately I've been having trouble getting to the water before the topwater bite dies and it's really been putting a damper on things not having a backup other than targeting smaller fish
@@BassGeek it's crazy how different the weather is just from VA to TX, every body of water near me is dropping pretty steady and the only rains we've been getting are sprinkles 🥲
Tried using those with a couple different types of hooks and they always spin when I reel them in. Only way I ever managed to stop the spin was with a belly weighted swimbait hook but then the toads sank faster than I wanted
@BassGeek I know I had to have been doing something wrong but yeah man every time I started reeling it in as soon as the legs started kicking the whole bait would star spinning. I still remember the specific ones I used they were white rage toads
Bass dont have eyelids, so once sun is bright you better swap to your go-to soft plastic rig in summer. Fluke or even non weighted trick after an hour after dawn
Don’t listen to the title tho, definitely do fish deep in summer. I’ve had multiple hundred fish days catching bass in 50 feet of water in the dead heat of summer. But he is somewhat right that early in the morning there is gonna be a good shallow topwater bite. Definitely don’t forget about the deep tho, they always feed down in the colder water
No way I always fish deep but nowadays everyone does. Run the rivers and back of creeks with active water. You can have some great days without electronics
Ik toads usually are for bass, but I got this beautiful backwater brackish spot, red drum and snook love this toad. Thanks your showing me the yum toads, don't know how I haven't seen em before😂😂😂
Tons of people rip on googan yet, i literally catch more fish on a lunker log than i do a normal senko. There squarebills crush the summertime bass up near me as well.
@@brianpage1771 my whole thing is that sure, their plastics may not be the most durable. But they catch a hell of a lot of fish so it’s worth it to me.

I have had some WP melt. It's all about water clarity and cover. Lakes are different most the time in the summer moving baits and sun with zero cover and clear water don't mix.
