I'm a Patreon. Brian, I made these PVC stands a couple of years ago but out of bigger diameter pvc. And I put wheels on them to move them around easier. Huge advice! Run wooden dowels down through the inside of the pvc. Locks everything all together, makes them 10 times stronger. If you don't then the stands will slowly lean over and then fall with everything on them. Unless you run fishing line from the ceiling or similar to hold them upright. The dowels make them more mobile. And cut pieces with a pipe cutter and you won't have any mess.

You do have a challenge for sure. I found by removing the wings, I can better manage my available space. Racks on the wall for fuselage, and I built a rack with pegs on a section of the wall, BUT, on hinges so I can stack winge (20) and lift the rack to the ceiling, out of the way and lots of head clearance. Works GREAT. For the aircrafts where you can't or won't remove wings, that is another challenge. (rafters)
The chop saw may be a little quicker, but it's louder with a lot more mess. I use a purpose built pvc cutting tool that's relatively simple to use and cheap, and it's worked out pretty well for my storage needs.
Love the tour and suggestions. Also if you don't want to work the saw for PVC, there's an actual hand PVC cutter that works almost as quickly as the saw and leaves no mess. It's still a million times better than a hack saw.

Thanks! Everyone is always asking about these storage room tours, but it will be a huge mess in a few weeks again - LOL - I see it all the time, so don't think a thing of it ;)
Thank you guys. I own a single plane, a 2-channel Cessna 182. It’s very barebones but man it’s been such a joy flying it around. I only just got into the RC hobby and what a beautiful world it is. Your collection is astounding. I don’t know if I’ll ever have as many planes myself but I look forward to building my own collection over time. I think I want my first real trainer to be sport cub s2 - heard great things about it. But then I want to move onto that citation longitude you got on your Boeing table. It’s a beautiful scale plane and it looks like it flies great. Thank you both for the great info, I will be diving deep into this channel to learn as much as I can.
@@BrianPhillipsRC I would throw the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5 meter in that list as well. It's very docile for beginners. I had been out of the hobby for almost 40 years and that airplane handled very well for me on the maiden.
Awesome collection!! For me it’s just easier to rent two storage units and just put my planes in there. I have one for my EDFs and for my prop planes. I know it’s expensive but i have ocd and cannot have clutter in my house. Sometimes it can be a pain going back and forth but I can’t imagine keeping the hundreds of planes in my garage.
yes, but I've found that unless it real heavy, there's not any damage. My issue is that these racks do tend to bend and sway a bit more than I'd like to admit.
Something you might check out if you haven’t already. Instead of getting the white pvc go over to electrical and look at the gray pvc conduit you can get it heavier and generally cheaper.
PVC storage racks are the best! I added some pipe insulation for some added cushion for the foam. I also found that adding a small sand bag at the base helps with my piece of mind against tipping over.
Man and I thought i had it bad on rc’s…..lol you make me proud to be an rc addict! Addition to the many and I mean many planes I have I also have just as many helis, cars and boats! No reason to be embarrassed for anything that you do, you have a passion not everyone enjoys! Just as long as the bills are paid, food on the table, roof over your heads and clothes on your back, keep doing what you’re doing! What makes this a great hobby, the whole family can participate and enjoy it as a family, awesome collection sir!
Pfff, luckily my extra garage looks quite the same, mostly stuffed with rc cars, rc sailboats and a couple of planes! Funny to see how many space hobbies take in real life, not only rc but also a couple of sub boards, mtb bikes and race bikes. Thx for sharing...it almost feels like home!
Totally! We made one HUGE mistake when we built our house in the country. We put in a large 3 Car garage, and we should have made it a 4-5 car with 2-3 of the stalls tandem parking. We needed room immediately, and as time passes, and we collect machinery, it has been a battle keeping up with storage. In fact, it's ironic, we JUST finally hung up our pictures from moving 3 years ago...and this video was filmed the same time frame... Moving sucks, especially after 12+ years in a house. When we move from here, in like 100 years, it's gonna be terrible!
Fantastic design! I'm going to build one of those with 1" pipe maybe slightly more rigid that way. I also decided to use some small stainless screws in the joints to prevent it from trying to unexpectedly come apart. I actually made a couple folding PVC plane stands for on the go they work great and I just fold them up to store or transport them. Great video as always Brian you are truely a diehard RC guy amazing dedication!
Looks great pal and great ideals.. I also have used that method but my newest works best, I install shelf racking on the wall tracks then i use shelve brackets and snape them in the tracks. With all the different slots i can move them up and down for the different sizes of the planes. I believe i posted a video on are channel some time back showing them and i think at that time i had like 85 Now i think im past 100.. So bad but so good lol..
Anchor the top of the PVC pipe rack to the ceiling with a hook in the ceiling and paracord from hook to top of rack. No more wobble. Also, I too use the PVC pipe hand cutters to cut pipe, absolutely no mess whatsoever. I just built a rack to haul a number of planes in my sport utility to the airfield.
A PVC cutting hand tool is no dust and no material wasted and nearly as fast as the chop saw. Lightly chamfer the outer edges with a utility knife or sandpaper. If there is no intention to use adhesive then a light coating of grease of some sort would allow rapid disassembly. I would go a step further and glue the horizontal supports to the tees. Makes it easier to twist that section off the vertical supports. Could even heat the horizontal leg a little after assembly and bend it slightly upwards to provide a little security from bumps and wind or whatever.
Nice collection Brian! Hey just a tip. To make a stand that’s a little more sturdy use something 1/2” thicker for the base and sides. Buy Tees that are reduced on one hole. For example a 1” x 3/4” x 1” tee. I made mine that way and it’s way more sturdy and I could stuff use the smaller pvc to hang each plane on. The Tees cost a little more but not bad at all. Also use a ratcheting cutter if you’re wanting to avoid the mess
@@BrianPhillipsRC yeah I priced some after watching your video and agree. Thanks for the reply. Love the F4U-4 video man those planes are beautiful. Got me pricing them now

Thanks Andrew!!! So glad you feel this way, and we'll keep doing it as long as you all keep coming back ;) Any advice for the 100's of NIB!?!? Open them up and play with them!!!!!!!! I bet that's gotta just hurt to see the stack?!??! It pains me to walk through my basement when I'm in a hurry to get to work, or whatever...all these beauties just want to be handled ;)
Great set up, I put a few choice planes hanging on the wall just like a painting in the living room. 3 of my planes look like they are flying in formation
Hey Brian! Lovely collection, another idea is to auction or giveaway all your unwanted and broken planes/parts to get rid of storage while others benifet as well
Your very lucky to have a wife who enjoys your passion, my wife asked me how many plane's do I need? My respectful reply to her question was just exactly how many pairs of shoe's do you have? And was never bothered about my plane's again.
Loved seeing your hanger. Brian, with all that land you need to build a Pole Barn for all your planes and farm equipment. I have built similar PVC racks for my planes. I don't have nearly as many as you though, WOW!
YES, we do badly, but we have a few irons in the fire at the moment. We had been planning to have a building up already, but when the neighbors call and offer to sell the land, you gotta grab it :)
Wow that's alot of planes...amazing collection...your reviews are always full on, and packed with information and tips when buying a particular model...really helpful for the expert and really great for the complete beginner....thank you for sharing your collection and tips on storage deffently helpful if you don't have much room...keep up the great work. Love the channel .regards Stuart uk 🇬🇧
The good idea fairy just sprinkled some sprinkly's on me. Build a miniture half moon shaped old school hanger near the new landing strip with a old school wind sock nearby the hanger. Maybe a WW-2 theme. Might be a cool place for storage/workshop for the collection. Lol, I'm definitely thinking about one myself
Like this - www.archbuildings.com/blog/product/20x58-steel-arch-farming-storage-building/ That would be cool, but we want to get a real plane inside...I don't know how we would do a door broadside on that type of building? Also, I want it to be 20ft sidewalls, or possible 16 foot, with the door on the wide side, which would be unusual, and probably requiring a steel span AKA way more money. We haven't even 100% settled on our building side, but we DO now have two 40' HQ (9.5' Tall) containers with doors on both ends. They have been instrumental in helping us clear out some space in our basement for the installation of our backup batteries, which will be happening not next week, but the following week, if all goes to plan. Once this is done, we have plans to finish the living quarters side of the basement, then get the shop setup in a more permanent fashion. Once this is done, we should be working out the "bugs" on where exactly the "dam gift shop" will sit...since we'll need to build that pad too. It's been a lot of work, and we're really only just starting, so can't wait to get this all behind us, so we can be using it all! It's gonna be an epic journey, and hope you'll be following along ;)
OMG! I NEED MORE PLANES! My wife asks how many planes do you need? My answer is always "one more than I had last month"! Luckily I have a very understanding spouse.
your guys Rock ....so awesome always enjoy all your videos ....cheers From New Zealand ...you have given so much support to so many people cheers Roger
I would glue the top and the base and a few sections, just for my own piece of mind. I'd also put cut up pool noodles over the pipe for a little extra friction. Overwise and awesomely simplistic and easy build. I have a similar Idea for deck chair cushions. Just can't believe how much PVC is now compared to a couple years ago. The clamps are a really good idea for your larger heavier planes too. And you can adjust the width easily. Time to sell off some of the stock? I yield to the camera crew on this question.
Yes Chris, and I haven't yet knocked over a rack, but we did end up reinforcing them vertically. We're going to liquidate a few here and there. Sorry for any delay if you're waiting...we've been so swamped with a link-changeover...a terrible process where we have to update all our main links b/c hh decided to switch vendors for their tracking, and it's taken 4 weeks of Megan's time so far ;( and less than half way there!!!!! But we have to do it...100% necessary. Thank GOD for Megan!
Always love watching this one from time to time. I built a couple of these shelves after first watching this video. And i also use PVC for my for my pistol target frames. Last month, I ended up replacing them with RC aircraft shelves from Flying Tiger RC. The curse of being OCD. 🙃
OMG you absolute LEGENDS!!!! Thank you so much for showing us the hanger!! Wanted to see that for EVER!!! I don't feel so bad having so many planes now ha ha ha
Omg Brian, has anyone ever told you that you might have a problem maybe you should seek some help on? That's an insane amount of plane's buddy! I'm envious for sure. Love the plane rack idea!
Wow that’s a lot of planes I have a good start but nothing like what you have that’s insane. love the PVC pipe rack going to build one this weekend👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
yes, we've heard this, and I've done it too, but I can say that "sticker" style is PRICY!!!!!! And it does make the gaps smaller, so if you're not storing BIGGER planes, I suggest you get some weather strip - WAAAAAY cheaper ;) You know, the 1" X 0.25" or some such size...just pull the adhesive backing and you can apply a 10-15" stip, and you'll get the same, or similar results. I just need to figure a way to make them more solid...glue would help, but at the moment, I really just need them TALLER...we have high ceilings, and I need to take advantage.
Oh sh**t ! Looks like there is no way out of plane hoarding, I need help too, I have planes sleeping next me. Any advice to stop buying planes ? (outside of stopping watch your videos😄)
Ive always wondered about the plane collection or if you actually kept all the planes you reviewed. I would have so much fun organizing all of that. I would make it look so bad ass, call it “The Airplane Arsenal”
I used PVC to make a carrier like yours to move planes to the RC Field when we had the family van. Once we moved to a house with a park in front yard and water feature in back, it hangs in garage as a four plane carrier (I only do park flyers or water planes now to keep it simple).
AWESOME! We had three ponds at our old home and it was nice...then a HUGE pond at the community college we frequented for most of our filming. I now miss that option. We need a pond again!
In the few weeks i have been watching and learning from your videos i have always wondered how you managed to store all those planes. This video definitely answered that question, i think you have done a great job with the space you have available (which is HUGE) compared to the average shed or garage we have here in the UK.
This is an OLD one too - we have one since then if you're curious ;) P.S. We're trying to build a 60'X80'X20' building, but need to get our pond built first, and then we'll be able to help solve some of our storage woes.

I love doing this, but it's lead to some unforeseen consequences, as any other success might also bring along for the ride ;) Flying almost every new RC plane that comes out is an amazing privileged and honor, and I love it, but at the end of the day, they still exist in time and space and must be stored ;) Queue BrianPhillipsHoarder - LOL!
We did on a couple with just cardboard and other things around, but I wanted to keep away form this, since the bottom position (on the floor) is really good for BIGGER jets. They are the HARDEST to store.

Thanks, and have fun! Good luck!!!
You can start wherever you want, but I can suggest the Carbon Cub S2 1.3m is a good choice, in deed.

@@BrianPhillipsRC I would throw the Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5 meter in that list as well. It's very docile for beginners. I had been out of the hobby for almost 40 years and that airplane handled very well for me on the maiden.
Thanks for the update! Neat to see how storage has changed over the years, and how RC planes have evolved.
Yes! I remember many many moon's ago when you did this haha
The foam pipe insulation works great for protecting the surface of the wings. But you need a ton of that stuff.
yes, but I've found that unless it real heavy, there's not any damage. My issue is that these racks do tend to bend and sway a bit more than I'd like to admit.
Something you might check out if you haven’t already. Instead of getting the white pvc go over to electrical and look at the gray pvc conduit you can get it heavier and generally cheaper.
I will look into this, but are there as many "T"s - aren't electrical usually SWEEPS?
They do make tees and elbows for it. It’s also known as charlotte pipe sometimes
I am so impressed with the amount of airplanes you have. To me the funniest is the toilet in the background. Your OK Brian. Good job.
PVC storage racks are the best! I added some pipe insulation for some added cushion for the foam. I also found that adding a small sand bag at the base helps with my piece of mind against tipping over.
Nice! We got a roll of weather strip to apply to the tops of the pvc where the plane is heavy enough to ding.
Very good and informative. Envy your hanger
You should see it now ;) It's a lot fuller, and more spread out.
So amazing Brian and "camera crew" Thanks for the tour and recommendations!
Our pleasure! Thanks for being here with us!
Oh yes there’s that loaded basement!😂 Great video Brian! The collection just keeps growing! Haha awesome! Can’t wait for more!
Yes, it's better now, for today ;)
I'm going to make one of those stands that can hang in my quanset so no mice will be able to climb up into them
They make a PVC cutter that leaves no waste. Plumbers use this tool.
Now that's what I Call a hangar my man! Beautiful 😍 Plane collection.
Thanks Will! It looks better now, but give it 6 months ;) LOL We'll be doing this all over again!
Great video, Brian. I am totally jealous of you. It’s like entering Ali Baba’s cave. ;)
People will want to see all those planes for sure!!
yes!
I love flying my rc and also looking at them when I stored it. So I used pvc parallel and tilted.
Cool!
You can use a pvc pipe cutter, simple to cut with and really clean.
Great video! Thanks! You can use pool noodles or pipe insulation foam for added protection. Keep the videos coming.
Sure, we debated about this too, but at the end of the day, it came down to cost, and it was gonna be CRAZY more expensive...like 3X the cost or more!
@@BrianPhillipsRC yeah I priced some after watching your video and agree. Thanks for the reply. Love the F4U-4 video man those planes are beautiful. Got me pricing them now
i would add. excellent job in lighting the place and smart to have a fire extinguisher.
Thanks for showing us ur house Brian I always wondered where all the planes u fly are, I can tell the love for aviation is real 👍
It's obsessive.
I love it Brian. We need more planes🤗
that was a great watch Brian and Meagan and i don't ever recall coming to watch one of the many great videos you have and not taken something positive away from it so big thanks and hats off to you both and any profits/royalty's and products you may reap as a result has always been well and truly deserved and earned in my honest opinion as theirs a lot of hours of building/setup/advice and so on being put into all of your videos so i just hope that you guys will continue your journey for as long as you have the space to do so and im sure you could always raffle or sell some older stock off and clear room for new and you beaut items to come in the future , thanks again for the lesson on to build a wing and planes stand as i do think ill be building at least one for my Garage and my little plane collection 0f about 14 , any ideas on how to store over 100 new in box rc car kits and 50 RTR cars/trucks/buggies/crawlers/touring etc etc - Tamiya/Kyosho/AArma/Traxxas/Losi/redcat and so on and so forth i would be very interested
Thanks Andrew!!! So glad you feel this way, and we'll keep doing it as long as you all keep coming back ;)
Any advice for the 100's of NIB!?!? Open them up and play with them!!!!!!!! I bet that's gotta just hurt to see the stack?!??! It pains me to walk through my basement when I'm in a hurry to get to work, or whatever...all these beauties just want to be handled ;)
Great set up, I put a few choice planes hanging on the wall just like a painting in the living room. 3 of my planes look like they are flying in formation
I've been trying to get Megan to let me do this, but she's like - Ummmmm NO. ;(... Oh well
For a few dollars you can get a simple pvc hand cutter, makes nice clean cuts without all the pvc shavings all over. Well worth the money
Hey Brian! Lovely collection, another idea is to auction or giveaway all your unwanted and broken planes/parts to get rid of storage while others benifet as well
Have you ever shipped a plane?
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yes i have, although i only fly UMX's so that would be a big issue for you. Didn't consider that 😅
Just can't beleive my eye's ! Nice vidéo my friend ! 💙👍✈
Thanks!
@@BrianPhillipsRC happy to see you again Brian ! ✈
Your very lucky to have a wife who enjoys your passion, my wife asked me how many plane's do I need?
My respectful reply to her question was just exactly how many pairs of shoe's do you have? And was never bothered about my plane's again.
The toilet in the background had me laughing so hard!! I wish I had Brian's storage issues 😂
We should rent out the "throne" for other RC nuts - LOL
#1 - $5
#2 - $500 (Did you see the fan? - LOL LOL LOL)
Use a pvc cutter pliers. Cuts clean, quiet and quick.
Keep doing what you're doing brother I love you and your camera lady
Thanks Wayne!
Thanks for the dungeon tour. I realize now I don't have nearly as many planes as I thought I had. Time to order more..... and some PVC. Cheers!
Where the kids hang out while filming! xD Thumbs up for your kids for having so much patience! :) :)
Wow, that amount of planes is crazy. You´re lucky to have so much space there! :) Good tip for that rack :)
Like this - www.archbuildings.com/blog/product/20x58-steel-arch-farming-storage-building/
That would be cool, but we want to get a real plane inside...I don't know how we would do a door broadside on that type of building?
100% correct answer ;) 1-800-HOARDERS-OFF - LOL (I hope that's not a real number - LOL)
your guys Rock ....so awesome always enjoy all your videos ....cheers From New Zealand ...you have given so much support to so many people cheers Roger
That’s a nice little collection!
Thanks! Even more crazy today ;)
Gotta check them out!!!
Appreciate all the info, great ideas, and laughs. Thanks!
Thanks! We appreciate your support!!
Yes ;)
Oh My - That's a LOT of aircraft. Love It !!! Especially like the reference to 3 cats turning into 11 cats. I can so relate :)
And this is 2 years old... you should see it now! The Good news is, we're back to 3 cats.
Some great
Great ideas. Fun to see your collection. Always wondered about it!
Thanks! People will start asking again in about 3 weeks - LOL - but we probably won't share any more dungeon tours for a while :)
Wow that’s a lot of planes I have a good start but nothing like what you have that’s insane. love the PVC pipe rack going to build one this weekend👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
pro tip: buy some pipe insulation to give the wings a little extra cushion on heavier models
yes, we've heard this, and I've done it too, but I can say that "sticker" style is PRICY!!!!!!
👍👍 end the mess for sure with a pvc cutter by hand as mentioned. Just be sure to wear gloves to protect from blisters. Love the vids...
Oh sh**t !
Looks like there is no way out of plane hoarding, I need help too, I have planes sleeping next me.
Any advice to stop buying planes ? (outside of stopping watch your videos😄)
Your wife is very supportive and seems like a sweety. You're a lucky man! Enjoy your content.
Yes I am! Thank you, she is amazing, and I am a lucky guy!!!
Ive always wondered about the plane collection or if you actually kept all the planes you reviewed. I would have so much fun organizing all of that. I would make it look so bad ass, call it “The Airplane Arsenal”
There you go, people that don't want to do it themselves. I'll let you know when I get a few more lol
Really needing that second hanger😉 but until then we'll executed video guys take care and be safe
Great lineup!
Thanks for sharing...
You're welcome, and thanks for being here with us!
In the few weeks i have been watching and learning from your videos i have always wondered how you managed to store all those planes. This video definitely answered that question, i think you have done a great job with the space you have available (which is HUGE) compared to the average shed or garage we have here in the UK.
This is an OLD one too - we have one since then if you're curious ;)
P.S. We're trying to build a 60'X80'X20' building, but need to get our pond built first, and then we'll be able to help solve some of our storage woes.
Hi Brian,
I have been looking for a more rescent storage video bit can only find this one and another from 2 years ago?

Hey Brian! Thanks for the tips! Looks like all of your success is a blessing but also a curse. :)
Totally!
I feel a lot better after seeing this - I thought I was the one who was hoarding LOL
Looks great! Would love to see a review of the FMS 800mm Corsair!
If you don't have a miter saw use a Sawsall/reciprocating saw .
I recently started using PEX CUTTERS - works AMAZING! No cut loss, and totally clean! Something like this - amzn.to/3POtH7M
Great video. My hangar looks exactly the same. I love the hobby.
Awesome!
Great video. Best storage video on UA-cam. Thank you.
Hi brian next time your at menards ask for a ratcheting PVC pipe cutter it works great and no mess and fast.
Great stuff! Next build idea - make a stand for the suv...
Try a 45 degrees brace at the base to make it more rigid
We did on a couple with just cardboard and other things around, but I wanted to keep away form this, since the bottom position (on the floor) is really good for BIGGER jets. They are the HARDEST to store.
Love your info, videos Brian,,, PLUS you are a lucky man,, you have a wonderful wife
who works with you,,, shares your hobby,,,,,supports you,,, She is a lucky woman as you stay home, love your hobby and not wonder off in other areas.. with other distractions . There is extra, no time available for other distractions :) :) :)
