Accommodation can be found easily through Facebook groups. Not too difficult. Some people book before they arrive and others come a week or so before and look before they settle for a place (what I did). Thank you for your kind words! I will consider it as I continue on with using UA-cam.

    Thank you for this video. I am preparing my study plan now and I feel unsure how to write it.
    I definitely agree that the scholarship amount does not seem to be enough, even for schools with cheaper tuition there are many variable life expenses, and they don't cover the flights or insurance.
    Also is it normal that when I sent an e-mail asking some questions about how to answer some questions, I got an angry sounding answer saying this is not how one prepares documents, and that everything is clearly written on the guidelines. But my questions were not answered in the guidelines. I feel bummed out about it tbh, it is my first time applying for such a thing too. I worry my unfortunate e-mail could lower my chances :/

    • @nnedi5971
      @nnedi5971  3 роки тому

      Hey! Weird that they answered you that way, but don't be discouraged! In your letter, I would recommend you to write about why you want to go to Taiwan, what you plan to gain from the experience and things you want to try when you do arrive. Possibly also write about what you plan to gain in experiencing a new culture and maybe your experience in working in intl spaces. Just think about some things you have done that helped you grow and learn that will help you adjust into Taiwan. I hope this helps!

      Hi Jon, I heard it really depends on your nationality and whether many people apply in your home country. If you're just applying for the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship (aka just the language program) then I heard its pretty non-competitive, but if you're referring to the degree program, then it may be an issue. They are just looking to see your passion and general interest in learning Chinese.

If you go in as a typical paying student, before the 3 months are over, the school asks everyone if they want to continue or not and then you have to go pay tuition before the next semester comes around.

      As I mentioned in the video, the scholarship doesn't cover the tuition. Yet, they expect students to pay it on their own using the stipend or by other means. So when you first arrive, you need to pay for the tuition on your own for they wait till a month and a half after to distribute the stipend. If they only offer you 2 months initially, ask your TECO office to see if you can extend it for longer. Otherwise once you start, you can't apply for an extension or reapply for the scholarship again.
