    We'd love to have a 16x24 like that here in SW Michigan. Beautiful!

    Great video! My gazebo collapsed and I'm going to redo it your way.
    12 x 16 might need 8x8 post though, but the concept should be the same.
    Thanks again!

    Great build, where are you able to get those 6x6 rough sawn posts in Ontario? Those look very smooth

      I’d suggest checking finding an Amish mill, there are a few in Chesley ON who should be able to fill most orders you need.

    Hey hey! This looks great! I’m about looking to do one of these in my back yard. How much did this cost you all in all? Would you possibly be able to make a small breakdown of the amount of material ya ended up using? I noticed you said 8 of the 4x4’s

    • @RobsAmishSheds
      @RobsAmishSheds  Рік тому +9

      Hey, thanks for commenting. It costs around $7500 CAD. The list of materials is pretty long, but I’ll do my best to give you a list here.
      In order:
      4 - 6x6 posts
      4 - 6x6 beams
      8 - 4x4 rafters
      1 - 2x4 ridge beam
      15~20 - 1x10 boards
      8 - 1x4 strapping
      4 - 1x6 peak soffet
      4 - 1x5 peak fascia
      2 - 1x10 eave soffet
      2 - 1x5 eave fascia
      8 - 4x4 corner supports
      And then the steel
      That’s a in general list that came off the top of my head. Hope this helps!

    What’s blackburned?

    • @RobsAmishSheds
      @RobsAmishSheds  Рік тому +3

      Essentially, backburning a screw has the same purpose as pre-drilling a hole to not split the lumber. Just putting the impact gun in reverse, heating up the screw through friction, then putting it in forward and driving it in

    The battens are missing, the counter battens will stop condensation from the sheet metal and the roof boards will start to rot. There is also no membrane under the sheet metal...

    • @RobsAmishSheds
      @RobsAmishSheds  Рік тому

      You might’ve had a point, only if the building was enclosed and sealed from top to bottom. You’re wrong however, no battens means air can get through the gaps between the boards, and the steel has a foam membrane on the ends and peak that allow for airflow. If you didn’t know, airflow allows wood to dry and we have never once had a problem with rotting wood

    • @MichalK_Photo
      @MichalK_Photo Рік тому

      @@RobsAmishSheds I meant the lack of vertical strips under the horizontal ones, which would allow water dripping from the sheet metal to flow down beyond the edge of the roof.

    • @RobsAmishSheds
      @RobsAmishSheds  Рік тому

      Thank you sir, we’re in Canada as well. We just go with a pretty standard 4/12 or 5/12 pitch and it does the job perfectly

      @@RobsAmishSheds oh man! Wish you were in Edmonton then an I could just hire you for this! I need to build one that is 14’ x 16’ and a little worried the 6x6 rough cut fir won’t be strong enough to go 16’

    • @RobsAmishSheds
      @RobsAmishSheds  Рік тому

      The 16’ beam should be strong enough, but you will definitely need an extra 2 posts at the halfway point on that span. Or alternatively, you could use 8” thick beams and posts!
