This is one of a few HomeFree covers that really outshines the original IMO. I love it so much.
It feels like Tim and Chance and Rob are telling three different stories from different points of view in a unified whole.
I believe love goes a long way in children. I can see how much love you have for your daughter. I think she is a very lucky girl.

I love Home Free's version of this beautiful song. This is in my top 5 songs by them. They really brought out the emotion of it. Tim's lead is amazing with his deep bass. Also love Rob & Chance's solos plus the great harmonies. And Adam is tasteful in making the simple sound of pounding his chest & thigh. I believe we can change our course in life. We don't have to make the same mistakes as our parents. We can choose to rise above it.

John Mayer is one of this generations best singer/songwriters, and match that with Home Free's magical harmonies and you get an absolute masterpiece of these men's harmonies.
When John Mayer released this song I already loved it. The lyrics are really something to think about. But I think this version has something more. All those different voices at exactly the right time. Adam keeping it simple but perfect for this song. It's on my favorite playlist.

This is absolutely one of my favorites recorded by Home Free. Between their arrangement, their selection of who sings respective segments of the lyrics by each member and the video interpretation by the locations they chose to include with this recording is what makes this so much of an emotionally tug at one's mind & heart. They simply know how to draw out the most effective means of identifying with their audience on a very personal level.❣

Brother was adopted by grandparents, never met my mom, and reconnected with my dad later. Will be 40 this year and haven't followed in his footsteps. I've been married 14 years unfortunately we can't have children. This song brings it home to me

This is an upgrade. John Mayer sang it originally. I think that you are looking at this the right way. Keep being honest about the mistakes that you have made in the past, both with yourself and with your daughter. Make sure she knows that you want to be there to help make sure that she doesn't make the same mistakes that you did, but that you love her enough to help her through the ones that she will inevitably make on her own. You're doing great, just keep on keeping on. Remember when you are in a place that is hard, just keep taking the next step and you will get through it.
