I am a 72 yr old white woman who loves Home Free. I had never heard this song before and it basically sums up my life the same way it does for you, a young black man. I have to tell you not to let anger and shame rule your life like it did mine. Rise above it, maintain control of your emotions in confrontational situations because it's never worth it. Most importantly educate yourself so you can speak well publicly. You appear very bright so I'm sure you're able to do it even though the educational system you went through was of no help. That is the most important thing I can say to you. Be well and be articulate.

The body percussion allowed us to get that 5th part in the harmony from Adam that we don't get to hear often enough. His beatboxing is incredible, but his voice is also really good.

Country music sings to ALL of us. It tells a story, it hits your emotions, it digs deep into you, with a melody, and feeling, without dirty language, or creepy subject matter, or self serving shock value. Check out “Everybody Walking This Land”!

When coved hit I got very depressed and felt life was hopeless. I found these guys one day and if not for binge watching them every day and watching everything I could from them, I believe I’d have fallen into a deep hole. Homefree is very healing, positive and real. Keep listening and reacting, you’ll heal positively!

I love your honesty on life and how you share your journey. Your a real one brotha. I haven’t heard this one from Home Free. I’m sitting here in tears now😢. I spent 16yrs of my life in a abusive relationship. It wasn’t until I clawed my way out of that spiderweb that I eventually started to put the pieces of myself back together. Then 5years later my first love, my childhood sweetheart messaged me out of the blue. I was ready to be loved right and he had always loved me right all then years ago. 2 years later I feel true happiness in my heart.

I love Home Free's version of this beautiful song. This is in my top 5 songs by them. They really brought out the emotion of it. Tim's lead is amazing with his deep bass. Also love Rob & Chance's solos plus the great harmonies. And Adam is tasteful in making the simple sound of pounding his chest & thigh. I believe we can change our course in life. We don't have to make the same mistakes as our parents. We can choose to rise above it.

I grew up in a dysfunctional family. I always thought this was normal. Brady Bunch, Partrich Family, etc.. was imaginary family, TV family. At age 21, I met a stranger whom we became close friends. Years later, she told me that I was so timid and walked looking down. She invited me to family occasions in which opened my eyes that This is Normal... Let's just say that my therapist was quite surprised that me and my siblings came out 'normal' as in Not into drugs, alcohol, crimes, etc... This song resonates with me. It reminds me that I don't have to continue the dysfunction.

Such a good song. It was originally by John Mayer but I love Home Free’s version. It’s an interesting song. Can you change your family’s dynamic or are you doomed to repeat family failures? You can change it…it can be hard but you can do it. You are not doomed to repeat the failures. If your parents fight and divorce it doesn’t have to happen to you but you have to work hard. Be blessed and continue working on you! Tim (bass) leads in So Long Dixie. Rob (glasses) leads in End of the Road or Bless the Broken Road. Austin (redhead) leads in Love Me Like That. Chance (ball cap) leads in I Can’t Outrun You. They’re all great singers.

We all struggle. We are all searching for connections. Politicians and the media push to divide us so some of us scour social media to find those connections. The amazing thing to me is that those connections can grow from people that have had extremely different life stories. I've quickly learned that we don't need to look alike to think alike.
Keep going brother and keep bringing those of us searching light!

If not already mentioned, Home Free releases behind the scenes footage from the making of some of their videos. They have one for this in the 'Vault' on their channel. They get pretty silly when not on camera, therefore, if you want to remember this only as a very somber piece, you may not want to watch the BTS footage. While very enjoyable, seeing the guys goofing around while recording this may...or may not... color how you view this video, or hear the song, going forward.

Thank yolu for doing a reaction for this on. You were into it and saw they message they were singing. This is one of my favorite covers they did. It was solemn, sober and heavy hitting. And at the end, they didn't do their, usual, dedication of outro. Like they didn't want to dilute the feeling and message.
The message of whether these things will wash out in the water, or is it always in the blood, always struck me as the way some problems can be handled. Wash out in the water, meant that removing yourself from the situation, or distancing yourself can help, and make it better. Like going no contact with a toxic family member, or ending an abusive relationship. The ones that are in the blood are ones that stick with you, no matter where you go, because you take it with you, it's in you. Like hereditary mental health issues, or having been raised in an abusive house for so long that those patterns are all you know.
Essentially, the singer feels like they are asking which problems are external, and which are internal.

Tim Foust started the song, Then Adam "Chance" Chance was second singer, Rob Lundquist is the dude wearing glasses He does lead on the song 9 To 5 from the groups video on their website collection. Austin Brown us the High tenor of the group, and The short haired Beat boxer sound guy is Adam Rupp. Listen to Man of Constant sorrow, He does a harmonica sound effects so crazy you think he is actually PLAYING one!!
