I am currently trying to get Fakours as well, researching R27R1 ATM. I find that AIM-54As, while not surefire, I can have success with. Last time I killed 6 players and 4 AIs over hour and a bit. Most were Phoenix kills with 1 AIM-9 and maybe 2 AIM-7. When case studying the missile behavior in replay to improve my tactics, I found out that majority of misses were: 1) Missiles switching to going for each other instead of the aircraft. More often that I would expect. 2) Someone scoring hit on the target just before me. 3) Me shooting at missile reflection as at the time I acquired it had speed comparable with aircraft so hard to distinguish if it is one a bandit quickly when you need to make quick decision. I wasn't able to see whole replay, but I saw surprisingly few (maybe just one) cases where it would just go stupid so my respect to Phoenix increased. But I must also admit that in that particular review enemies were not maneuvering that much, which might have bee related to quite a lot of clouds hiding the smoke trails. When I shot 2 Phoenixes in enemy A-4 AI strike formation, it got 3 of them.
Okay, Sedjil enjoyer here! So yes, it is a American HAWK missile modified to be lighter and air launched! The interesting thing about it is that you quoted its range at around 10-20km. This is somewhat wrong. It's use is more of a SARH Phoenix, if you look at the range of it (easier done in ARB), you can see that it's best ranges are about 25-50km depending on speed, closure, and altitude. It also accelerates way faster than the Phoenix, and can catch people off guard. Being hard locked for upwards of 20 seconds can have people dodging erratically for most of it only to let their guard down, thinking it might be a stray ARH missile, and get hit in the face with a comically large missile. Just like the Phoenix though, it suffers from 20km and below as usually it is still in its crazy boost phase and simply is moving too fast to effectively turn against targets moving at a decent aspect. Never had a missile fail to kill what it hit, now getting the hit.... takes some work. All in all, not the greatest missile. But as I like to put it, funny over function.
Some have already said but a little more context on the Fakour's power for the ones wondering: The sustainer is straight up stronger than the booster on the Phoenix. Phoenix has a burn of 30 seconds while the Fakour has one of 27. However the Fakour has a booster that burns for 5 that outputs something around 90K newtons a second with the sustainer burning for 21 seconds around 12K newtons a second. The phoenix is a 30 second booster of about 10K newtons a second. The Sedjil has the exact same motor as the Fakour but it's semi-active and just cant pull well at all. Cool little meme missile though.
Anything below the top tippity top brackets and red is doing fine, at least on US and CIS servers, esepcially around that 11.7 range where the mig 23mld gets to fight f5's and phantom E's. At 11.3 they also do very well with early mig 23's and the mig 21bis, at 12.7 they do alright unless france and russsia combo them on the enemy team but otherwise "red team is doing terrible" is bs, people should be specific and say late cold war red team is doing bad
@@dnfluffles772 ah, werent it assumed that we were talking about 12.7 and beyond? It is a problem that would be shout out loud if it happened to USA. This problem even affects ARB cos top tier Russia is as unplayeable as top tier Germany. And if you want me to specify: MiG29 branch, Su27 branch. Those are compeeting with much better counterparts, and its not even fair, M29 and S27 are even twice as agile in some cases yet they are not fixing it. They did fix F16's and F15's flight model when they needed. Why is it too much to ask for the same treatment for Redfor?
One of the main problems gaijin need to fix is the R77 drag modeling,it got even worse after the "fix" where they reduced the structure drag but massively increased wing area wich doesnt even make sense for lattice fins....

One correction the Fakour and sedjil have a crazy strong motor that burns for about 5 secs and then they have a 21 second sustainer that is is about as strong as the 54A engine. I am pretty sure that right now both of these are the fastest missles in game.
The amount of fakours and phoenix's you face is ridiculous. Luckily if you can avoid them, winning a dogfight is easy because if they dont fire all of their fakours they are so heavy you run rings around them
The biggest issue i have with this plane is its horrible RWR. It doesn't show any aircraft's name, and DOESN'T EVEN WARN of any lock or launch Even Russian RWRs at that BR or lower even shows lock and launch warning
This is true but the rwr does have a precise directional rwr and if you get a constant spike you know you are being locked/fired on. I don't have too much of a problem with it
A considerable amount of time has passed since everybody got that cancer plane on hands. Since then sim lobbies are empty on red side and spammed on blue side. Which got me thinking: is there a point in buying cs4 mirage from gjn market to clown on all of these tomcats in sim?
Air Sim seems the same now as prior to the event. When the BR rotates to 11.7-12.7, the F-14s are the dominant aircraft as no one can match. It is a monster during that rotation. When the BR rotates to put the F-14s against 13.7 jets, it's competitive but not dominant. As to US vs Russia.... it's been lopsided since Seek and Destroy update and was a bit more favorable to the US prior to the update because the PvE guys and bots spamming F-111 and F-4S bomb trucks that no one can match.
Yeah this isn’t true, 12.7 F-14 is strong but everyone can contest you. Yak-141 and M2K are both equal threats. It’s 13.0 where the tomcat struggles against specifically the gripen and f-16s with 9Ms. And if they ever want to help USSR and bring the su27 down to 13.0…

If they just drop them the f14 can slam most opponents in a dogfight. But it's not actually that easy to use so most people dont
The sidjil isn't bad . You have to use it a 15 miles or more on top of that you need to lead the target if close
When it's 13.0 top, MiG-29G butcher's these. So much fun
With the sedjil use it around 20 miles through 40 miles. That's how I get most of the kills with them.

Even Russian RWRs at that BR or lower even shows lock and launch warning

They dont model the iranian RWR
There are so many f14s that it is hard to find a fair game. There are also alot of RB players that team kill like a bunch of idiots.
