Hello nice woman I am a 59 year old man in Switzerland. Just starting out with piecing and quilting. My mother, who lived in Canada for a few years, got me into it. I also got a new Bernina 770 a few days ago. Wonderful! Your video was excellent instruction on how to do it right. A really big help. Many, many thanks. Best wishes from Switzerland.
I can’t thank you enough for this video. I have had my 770QE for over five years and have never figured out the perfect way to chain piece until watching you and your explanation. I look forward to learning more you. Right now I’m heading to my machine to do some chain piecing.👏
It's the little things that you miss, that really make a difference in your sewing experience. I am not new to sewing, but am new to Bernina. I learned so much from your video. Thank you so much for posting these helpful tips. It's so great to know about the differences in the first three piecing stitches, abd how to access that info with the "i" button. I had a lot of good reasons to switch to Bernina. I am finding more reasons every day. 🥰
Just found you and really enjoyed your lessons!! I too have a 770QE. a few years ago, forgot half of what the dealership showed me. So to find you and follow you I refreshed my memory. Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this information. Just bought my Bernina B 880 three months ago and want to learn all the tricks to make quality sewing projects. I have subscribed to your channel and am looking forward to more UA-cam videos.
Awesome details about the 97D foot and chain piecing. I just got my first Bernina last week and your tutorial gave me info I can't find in the manual. So informative. Thank you for the all the hints and details to do better piecing.
Thank you thank you thank you! I am doing a quilt with small 2 1/2 squares. I have a 97d foot and I happened on you tutorial. Wow ! I have a Bernina 570 QE so that stitch is 1301.. Thank you again
Thank you so much. I bought my 770QE when my local dealer was going out of business and it sat unused for 2 years because I had no training. Lately I’ve been getting my training on UA-cam and started a quilt. I just found your UA-cam channel and this episode was so well done and in-depth. I subscribed and am looking forward to watching more.
So thorough. I too have a Bernina 710B series. She has so many buttons and selections that I had no idea about until I came across this tutorial. Thank you so much.
Wow, I wish I knew about your video sooner . Thank you. I loved your tips; I almost gave up on my Bernina 7 series machine because I had difficulty getting accurse 1/4 inch seams. I bought a Juki straight stich and love it. But, after viewing this video, I am going back to my Bernina and trying out these tips .Thank you !!
The stitch I am using is 1324 in my b770. Sorry if I said the wrong stitch. If you are using a different Bernina, make sure you press on the quilting icon to the right of the screen. Look for the stitch which has tiny stitches at the beginning and at the end.
New to Bernina and appreciate your video so much. My machine arrives next week. Oh the anticipation! I’m looking forward to the quiet operation. Your quilting tips and machine operations are the best. My favorite machine for piecing at the moment is my 1952 Singer featherweight. Hugs 🤗 Helen
I just purchased a B710. Your tutorial was very informative, I enjoyed it very much. I did not know about the details of the stitch functions. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us newbies! You are awesome!😍👍👍
Thank you so much for this video...It's the best I seen so far you explanation is & showing us was perfect. again thanks for taking the time to do this video.
Thank you "sew" much for the great video. Your camera work was so nice and close. I use that stitch quite a lot but I didn't know about pressing the triangle with the line to go to the beginning of stitch, I just usually hit the 1324. Again, thank you!!
FYI ….until you are able to add the upgrade to the 770+ you still need to tell the machine which foot you are using. It will not change on the basic 770 screen but the machine still needs this information and it is a safety feature also. Thank you for your take on chain piecing!
I have not heard that anywhere else. But it sounds correct and I will start doing that and looking into it further. I am all into safety and ergonomics. Thank you for the information 😀
I got the upgrade to my 770+ but I still have to tell the machine what foot I have on the machine. In fact, when I change feet, it won’t sew till I tell it what foot I have on it.
This was great, thank you. Do you have a video chain piecing blocks together and what to set the program at to go over seems. I'm struggling with this right now, it wants to jam up and get off my 1/4" line.
Wonderful tips. I just bought a new 570 QE and am looking forward to using the 1324 stitch. I plan to save the stitch length to 2.0 also. I’m wondering how the machine knows not to put those small securing stitches in the middle of my piece when I stop sewing to readjust the fabric. Does it have to do with pushing the reverse button? I love the knee lift, so I’m not sure how the hover would help me. Maybe sometime I’ll find it useful.
Thank you for that! I have an issue with my last little bit of fabric veering off and therefore it loses the 1/4”. Any suggestions? I try to hold it with my stylus, but doesn’t always work, so I pick it out and try it again…slow process!
Have you ever had trouble sewing precut half square triangles together with your Bernina? I had trouble with the seams curving when I did it on my Bernina.Thank goodness I kept my older Babylock machine.
I use the Bernina machine oil. That way I know it is the correct type. You have a high end machine and you want to use high end products to keep it in good condition.
I just got the BERNINA 770QE Plus. If this is a quilting machine, I am wondering why BERNINA didn’t include the piecing foot? Also, how are you able to use that guide when, if sewing 1/4” seam, it lands right on the feed dogs?
I am working on the next video right now. It is going to be on applying binding. It is in several parts. I do all the filming and editing myself. Except for once in a while my husband will film too. So it takes a bit more time.
I recently got the 770QE Plus. I am trying to get the perfect 1/4” seam allowance. I noticed you took that guide and placed it right on top of the feed dogs. Does this harm the machine in any way? TIA
I hope to do a video just on that subject. In the meantime I will explain. If you turn over the seam gauge you will see a cut out line. When you turn it over and put it on the machine notice it goes directly over the feed dogs. In other words Bernina created a space directly over the feed dogs and they will move without touching the gauge. I hope this helps.
At the risk of asking a stupid question I’ll ask. I am new to sewing. Are you pressing the pattern begin between each piece (the start of sewing two new pieces). I hope to master this machine one day…I appreciate your time in making content.
If you press the reverse to sew the short stitches at the end of a piece, the machine "re-sets" so it will start over again with the short stitches when you start to sew.
Practice on a scrap piece of fabric. Sew then press the reverse button then let the machine finish and then begin again. That way you can get a feel for what the machine is doing. Once you get use to it, it will flow.
Thanks… I learned a lot… are you using a knee lift?? Can I only make it hover with the needle down? Loving this machine 😊 and your video is making that happen because if I don’t know how to use a really great machine well… 🤷🏻♀️ no fun…
enjoyed the video my only problem is my is my stitch 1326 doesn't look r do what u r doing????? have a Bernina 770 addition plus and this is my first bernina so I'm alot lost anyone out their please help thank you
I think when the camera turns on I seem to make mistakes which I don't normally make, LOL. The stitch is 1324 on my b770. However if it is not the same on every machine, Here is how you find it. Go to the right side of the screen and press on the icon which represents the quilting section. Find the stitch which is tiny little stitches at the beginning and at the end. That should be the same stitch. share.icloud.com/photos/043tvXB6AIAvkyJbAdzdEfMgA
Yep I my sewing machine it is 1324. sorry about the. What is important is, the stitch is in the quilting icon and it does tiny stitches at the beginning and the end after pressing the flashing icon to finish the stitch.

Thank you for this video! I have been so frustrated with my new machine, but all of your tips solved my problems!!!
One of the best Bernina demos I have seen. Well organized, good pictures and nice pacing❤
Wow, thank you!
Excellent video! You have revealed features I did not know were available on the machine. Thanks for going through the foot and the stitches.
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen on chain piecing and the 97D foot. No one ever told me about the notches😢 Thank you for that tip!

Happy to help!

Thanks this is really helpful. When I first had my 770 I had trouble with piecing. I fully understand why now. Lots of tips, Thanks again 🤗
Well done! Breaking it down and explaining all the things a user needs to know! Thank you! 🌹
Glad it was helpful!
Just bought my 770 Plus QE and excited to watch this and save it. Thanks.
I just got mine a few weeks ago also. It’s a whole new ballgame 😅

Thank you for this. I have a 570qe and when I took my mastery class I don’t believe the instructor ever pointed this stitch out to us.
I appreciate you showing me how to change the default stitch size on my machine!
Glad it was helpful!

Thankyou! Upgraded from a much older machine. Learning curve your videos are excellent
Thx so much. U r a great teacher!!
Thank you so much for this rich, detailed tutorial. It has changed the way I piece my blocks on my Bernina.
I have never had stitch 124 explained to me. Very helpful!
Fantastic video-- thank you for this! I never knew about these stitches and the detailed explanation of the foot and seam guide were fantastic. :)
Great tutorial. Thank you!
Thank you! Great tutorial.
The 97D is my favorite foot and I can't wait to try this stitch. Thank you.
Thank you this was very helpful. I have always had that problem of the edges coming undone as well. I am going to try this method THanks again
You are so welcome!

What if you do not have an external walking foot? I have a Bernina 475.
Excellent demo. Very helpful.
Thank you so very much for your tutorial!,, I’m a new Bernini owner and need guidance. Your post was exactly what I needed. Many thanks!,,
Glad it was helpful!
Amazing video - so clear and precise and best of all I learned so much about options on my 770qee which I have had for 2 years! Thank you sooo much!
Glad it helped!
Thank you for the video! I learned several things!
Thank you so much for this tutorial , the hover foot was driving me crazy each i time I stopped it lifted I’ve now corrected that 😊
Glad it helped!

Good luck!! Nothing like bringing home a new Bernina
Thank you, I’m always learning more about my Bernina.
Happy to hear that!
Wow, I will be trying this method, thanks

Thank you for this video... what a wonderful stitch... I'll be using that! thank you for explaining in such great detail... take care
Thank you for your response I so look forward to your next video. Know in advance it will well worth the wait
Thank you for the tips.

I plan on. I am presently in limbo. We have moved states and as soon as we move into our new house, I will be off and running in my channel.
Great information
Thank you, Terri
Thank you this was so helpful

Your welcome ☺️ Enjoy your new Bernina!. It is the reverse button that tells the machine to complete the stitching with tiny stitches.
Thank you for that! I have an issue with my last little bit of fabric veering off and therefore it loses the 1/4”. Any suggestions? I try to hold it with my stylus, but doesn’t always work, so I pick it out and try it again…slow process!
Thank you!
Welcome!
Are you using your knee lift in between blocks?
Yes, I love my knee lift. It makes my starting and stopping much easier.
Yes, I love the Bernina knee lift accessory.
Have you ever had trouble sewing precut half square triangles together with your Bernina? I had trouble with the seams curving when I did it on my Bernina.Thank goodness I kept my older Babylock machine.
Yes I have. I am back after a long brake. I hope to make a video about that.
I just purchased a pre-owned B770 QE. Your video is very helpful!! What sewing machine oil do you recommend?
I use the Bernina machine oil. That way I know it is the correct type. You have a high end machine and you want to use high end products to keep it in good condition.
I just got the BERNINA 770QE Plus. If this is a quilting machine, I am wondering why BERNINA didn’t include the piecing foot?
Also, how are you able to use that guide when, if sewing 1/4” seam, it lands right on the feed dogs?
I am going to make a video about how this accessory works. It doesn't harm the feed dogs at all.
So enjoyed this video. Great explanations. Do you have other 770QE videos. I'm not able to find you other than this video. Thanks
I am working on the next video right now. It is going to be on applying binding. It is in several parts. I do all the filming and editing myself. Except for once in a while my husband will film too. So it takes a bit more time.
Sooooooo helpful!!!!!
you mentioned using a clover stylus pen?? Are these available anywhere?
I just got a 770 qe plus. Are the stitch numbers different because I think it is 1301 on my machine. Just checking. Thank you.
I recently got the 770QE Plus. I am trying to get the perfect 1/4” seam allowance. I noticed you took that guide and placed it right on top of the feed dogs. Does this harm the machine in any way? TIA

hover should rhyme with "lover"....tee hee

Loving this machine 😊 and your video is making that happen because if I don’t know how to use a really great machine well… 🤷🏻♀️ no fun…
Yes, I use the knee lift continually when I chain piece.
enjoyed the video my only problem is my is my stitch 1326 doesn't look r do what u r doing????? have a Bernina 770 addition plus and this is my first bernina so I'm alot lost anyone out their please help thank you
I think when the camera turns on I seem to make mistakes which I don't normally make, LOL.
Just a note - the foot is the 97D foot being used, not the 79D foot. (Not even sure there IS a 79D foot)
You are using a #97D foot. Not a #79D foot as the title indicates and you repeatedly say.???
I saw the same thing- I was wondering why she wouldn’t have set the 97 D, I have transversed numbers before too! Still such great information!
Thank you for pointing that out. The silly mistakes I make once the camera is rolling is so frustrating.
Not to worry about it. You do a great job.
I found it it it is 1301 0n mine so WIERD
Yep I my sewing machine it is 1324. sorry about the. What is important is, the stitch is in the quilting icon and it does tiny stitches at the beginning and the end after pressing the flashing icon to finish the stitch.
She keeps calling the foot 79 D through the whole video.
