I've been there, it's beautiful. At 4:00 there is a stone stele encased in glass frame. It made a huge impression on me. It was erected in the late 19th century by a Qing Dynasty official. It asked people do not desecrate, graffiti and be respectful, in 5 European languages and Japanese. The sad period of history is in every Chinese person's mind. I hope the west can remember and understand.
I have fond memories of Purple Mountain. There's an American city called Chattanooga that--architecture aside--looks like Nanjing. It has several mountains and a river that bear a striking resemblance to Purple Mountain and the Yangtze. Also has the same weather as Nanjing!
Nick, strangely, you always go to places in my bucket list. I enjoy watching your clip so much. I’m studying Chinese now. Hope one day I can go to all the places you’ve been. If you come to Korea or Thailand let me buy you some 🍺. Cheers.
How the hell did you manage to cover BOTH the Ming Tombs and Mausoleum of Sun Yat Sun in one day ? Each of those places could easily take up an entire day. You really have to be in shape to tour those places since as you said there is MASSIVE amounts of walking involved. Purple Mountain is a walker's paradise and will not disappoint. Personally, I feel Nanjing is a more aesthetically pleasing city to visit than Beijing. Geographically in Nanjing you have a much more vast area to hike, walk or run around than Beijing, and the climate is much more pleasing except the summer months which can get muggy and humid
Around 4:04 - 4:09 … before the third emperor, his, one of his sons, I believe, the young latimer, moved to Beijing. 原来是孙中山的墓园,暑假我也得去这里步行放松身心。南京这个曾经的政治中心,走到哪都有惊喜。
@闲风逸云 这确实是个悲伤的故事
been to Nanjing once but in a lil bit of hurry, wish could visit 紫金山 next time
There is a lot to see and do there, i had a good 5 days there but it wasn't enough
最爱我们大南京
I know you do Amelie 😃😀
That doesn't look like the Sun Quan bit I visited. Hope I didn't miss something or I'll have to come back all the way from the UK again lol
Probably a good enough reason for a return trip, haha! Very beautiful part of the country
Did you go to Laomendong? It is a really nice place to walk around.
I didn't...too many things, too little time :( Next time.
nanjing remained as capital city through out the entire ming dynasty even after zhu di established another capital in beijing, ming has dual capitals.
True, they were dual capitals. but the main imperial seat was moved to Beijing.
明孝陵,中山陵,紫金山天文台
