    The NU1 sounds much more like a real piano. The CLP585, though more versatile, sounds like an electric piano. Between the two, I would go with the NU1 but, as good as these are, I still prefer the sound of the real thing.

    The NU1 sounds just like the overstrung upright piano I learnt on, as a child at my parents (It wasnt a Yamaha, and I can't remember the manufacturer of hand), the 585, sounds too "full", too synthetic in this video for my tastes, however, maybe that was the instrument that was being used within the software. I'd like to have heard the two instruments being played on the same instrument should they be available, be it the Bösenforfer, or Yamaha CFX. To me that would have been a more valid test of the speakers.

    It seems the NU is more indicate who needs a real acoustic piano sound with a identic keyboard touch, but because the noise when played and the neighborhood its impossible with a normal acoustic piano. The NU provides the possibility to cut the external sound when you plug in a headphones, like a Yamaha Silient Piano but without the strings, which makes the NU1 a piano much more compact, therefore more appropriate to have in your house or apartment.

      No, NU1 is not newer technology. NU1 was introduced in 2012 and the CLP585 in 2013 and the CLP685 is the newest model introduced in 2017. It's best to try them in the store, youtube compression can be misleading.

    Could anyone enlighten me with a quick overview of the differences between a digital piano like this and an acoustic piano in the same price range? For someone who's only interested in playing with the piano sound.

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  8 років тому +10

      +Frode 5 Ok, a quick overview; Digital pianos; never go out of tune, don't weight very much, feel same as traditional piano, piano sound produced indistinguishable to 8/10 people, you can control volume including wearing headphones, you can used different sounds e.g. strings/choir, you can record what you're playing and transfer onto computer/cd etc.

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  8 років тому +7

      +ePianos.co.uk continued... Acoustic pianos; Sound wonderful because they have real hammer hitting real strings, infinite amount of tonal variation, are extremely heavy, virtually no volume control for quiet practice, some people argue that they look nicer as pieces of furniture.

    • @ePianoscouk
      @ePianoscouk  8 років тому +11

      +ePianos.co.uk So there are pros and cons of both acoustic and digital pianos. Digital pianos are more practical without doubt and are growing more and more popular as the sound they produce becomes more accurate to the 'real' thing. Traditional pianos are not very practical things for modern living, however they do sound beautiful and in a funny way you can actually fall in love with a traditional piano in a way that you just can't with a digital one, or maybe that's just me. Hope that helps you Frode 5.

    To which grade would you rate the 545?

    • @DavidGarcia-uz3ox
      @DavidGarcia-uz3ox 8 років тому +1

      Same question. The 545 is on my mind because it also has NWX keys and 256 polyphony. Is there a massive difference between the 545 than either of these two? I want them. Invest in a piano that will progress with me. Do these pianos just have extra bells and whistles or are they quite important?

    • @j100xtra
      @j100xtra 8 років тому +2

      The difference between the 545 and 585 is like night and day. In my opinion, the 535, 545, and 565 are muddy and missing clarity in the mid to high tones. Also, the action on the these models are not in the same league (but to defend Yamaha, they are cheaper models). I purchased a CLP 585 a few months back, and it is an absolutely amazing instrument. I love it! I have to say that I also looked at the NU1 which I also liked very much, but the tone of the 585 was much richer and more vibrant. The 575 is not bad, but for just a little more money you will be much happier with the 585. After spending 3 hours in the store I ended up with a CLP585 after playing every digital piano in this price range.

    • @j100xtra
      @j100xtra 7 років тому +2

      David, as far as grading the two pianos (and this is just my opinion), if the 585 is rated as A+, the 545 would be rated a C+. The key-bed and speaker system in the 585 is so far superior to the 545 that they are not in the same league.
