Maybe Found Some Chokecherry. Is It a Good Smoking Wood?

- I've had a few firewood customers ask for smoking woods, so I've been on the lookout on our property for anything that might be good for smoking meat and found this type of cherry by accident.
Chokecherry is native to most of north America, but it doesn't thrive in in the extreme heat and humidity of the southeastern US, which probably explains why I don't see much of it here in Central Virginia.
Let me know if you have any expereince with chokecherry for smoking meat, and if so, describe the flavor for the rest of us!

Choke cherry is a great smoking wood if it is seasoned long enough!
I've definitely used choke cherry for smoking and it works well. I usually mix it with hickory. But I like it!

When in doubt get the tractor out! Never smoked with that type of cherry, but it would be curious to try! Take care
Good job on the stubborn tree. Some of those are deceiving which way they are supposed to go. You might want a KNL Firewood sticker for that Champion log splitter. I hear they start after the first or second pull once the sticker is applied. Just let me know 😄.

I was watching the video and just wanted to let you know not to ever try pulling with the atv again. If the hinge wood would have broke and the tree started falling backwards it would have taken the atv with it. Just not enough weight on the atv.
