You are sweet thank you ! I’m glad you enjoyed watching ☺️ Penelope is really happy in her cage I’m planning on filming a haul and cage tour tomorrow 💕
I’m so glad you gave her a good home although your work looks after her rllly well , I’m gonna get my own hamster for my birthday! I’m so so exited! she’s got a better home now! 💞
I have had many rescue hamsters lately and yes the dwarfs are Grabber Snatchers the syrians are very gentle I have had two female syrians lately that go over 8 ounces are half a pound
Blue Barrel is gorgeous but don't be surprised if you can't keep a Syrian female hamster happy they're just always crazy I'm not so sure we can keep them in captivity and comfortable
Yeah Syrians are always a lot harder to occupy than dwarf hamsters. Penelope was biting the cage every night but her wheel finally arrived and she’s been on it constantly! I find that my Syrian hamsters use the wheel alot more than my dwarfs x
That really interesting because my Syrian girl, Tallulah, who I’ve had for about 3 months has shown no stress signs or boredom at all. She’s made tons of borrows, ran on her wheel, played with me a bit and just seems fine. I’ve heard that female Syrians are hard to please everywhere but my girl seems just fine. I wonder why that is??
Sooo cute, I have a robo. Went for supplies to an independent petshop and came home with my syrian who is really big, who is so sweet and friendly. Xxx my syrian loves the small cottage from pets at home I have medium to swap also and they are only about £7. I tried bin cage and exact same as yourself lol swinging from the top lol so now she's in a platza from ikea i used with glass panel at front. X
OMG which Pets at Home to you shop at and do you work at one? (Asking because you seem to have a lot of stuff I have for my old hamster and new stuff for me soon first ever dwarf)
I don’t really shop at pets at home anymore they always have the same old stuff. The only things I get from there now are sand and soil from the reptile section & that’s about it. I go to the purely way one and the shelves are always so empty in the small animal section
Aww thank you ! Penelope is from a pet shop I work in & Bluebelle was rehomed as part of an accidental litter. My two hamsters before they Loki & pumpkin were adopted. One from the pets at home adoption and the other I found on Facebook marketplace. Cupcake , cashmere & Isabella were from pets at home and my first hamster was from an independent pet shop 💕

Your cage is so cute! I’m planning on getting a hamster for Christmas but I don’t know which hamster I should get. Do you have any advice on which one is best?
Hil! What small businesses do you recommend for hamster products?. I'm going to be doing a fresh layout for my female Dwarf next week as she deserves to be treated especially after taming her. She is fully tame now. Your new hamster looks cute too 😊

hi malica! i really love your videos and look up to how well you care for your animals😊 i also live in the uk and i was wondering where you got that storage bin from? ive been looking at making a bin cage and the bin you have/had seem really sturdy and good quality, would love to know so i could purchase it myself🤍
Hey , I’m glad you enjoy my content. Thank you so much for watching! I think I got that particular one from hobby craft & then I brought another 3 off Amazon. It’s a really really sturdy good quality bin. I would recommend getting a bigger size though as that’s only a 53L I think 💕☺️🌸
The not really anything you can do regarding the size of the hamster however you should make sure the wheel is the correct size which is very important. The cage itself should already be big because hamsters need a lot of space. Make sure tubes and stuff your hamster might want to squeeze into is big enough so that they can’t get stuck. Other then that you should be fine.
That made me feel so bad at 12:20 when you said she was digging so much in her sand, "which she just loved", that you took it out. Hamsters are diggers, and the one tiny tiny place she had to dig, was taken from her Because she dug in it! I'm so glad you gave her the larger cage later that night.
Taking away the sand didnt take away her one tiny place to dig she was digging in the substrate which is why I removed the sand dish in the first place
Not gonna lie I love your account I am getting my hamster on Thursday from pets at home but think about this way if we don't get them from pet shops what about the hamsters there they need to go to a good home to btw no hate love your acc
It’s very unlikely most of them will be going to a good home. 95% of hamsters end up in horrible tiny cages to be honest. There’s nothing wrong with getting hamsters from pet shops. For some people It depends where the pet shops get them from / some people don’t have much choice. Hamsters from pets at home come from rodent mill and some people just don’t want to support that / the hamsters aren’t the best of quality compared to those who are from a good breeder. Meaning they don’t always live long or end up with some kinda illness. Every hamster I got from pets at home had something wrong with it. Isabella had a toe missing. Cashmere developed a cyst & her sister cupcake had a respiratory infection. 2 of them died before the age of 2 cashmere lasted till 2. My niece got a hamster from there and it died within two weeks. They exchange her hamster ruby for another one who I think only lasted a few months. After that she got them from a independent pet shop who have been breeding them for years. The quality of those hamsters were amazing and the hamster lived a while. Cupcake & cashmere were the last two hamsters I brought from pets at home. I did adopt Loki from there but I only had him for 6 months till he suddenly died. The day I got him home I noticed there wasn’t something right with him so I had to take him to the vets. He kept itching every few seconds even after going to the vets the issue continued/ he always had a squinty eye. I also adopted a hamster called pumpkin from FB who was originally from pets at home she had something wrong with her I think it was a lump above her eye & she suddenly died after 3 weeks. My current hamster Bluebelle i rehomed her from a site called preloved. He mum came from an independent pet shop. A lady had brought her mum and she didn’t realise she was pregnant. Bluebelle is coming up to 3 years old. I’ve never had a hamster live that long. She’s doing amazing for her old age. I’m never going to buy or adopt hamsters from pets at home again I’ve personally not had good experiences with them. The last hamsters I brought from there were in 2017 & the last I adopted from there was around 2019. Once my Russian dwarf Bluebelle passes away I will get two Chinese hamsters from the pet shop I work in. They come from a lovely place called Essex breeding centre (I think the name is different now they changed over) 💕
I don’t need more information & I already know who she is we have been following each other on Instagram for years. This video is from months ago so the rest of Penelope’s stuff arrived so her cage is different now. I did mention in the video that the set up was only temporary.
I didn’t want a wooden wheel I’ve had one in the past and eventually it just gets ruined & chewed. I really wanted a niteangel one but they are expensive however they are worth it. They look good , last long , easy to clean and they make no noise. I did end up selling the XL wheel recently and I have the L now which is still big but smaller 💕
