Just want to say thank you. I always thought that the hair gene skipped me because my hair never grew down my back like my sister and brother. Then I did your aloe vera oil and detangler, in addition to going back to using products that I know work for my hair instead of trying every old product endorsed by low porosity hair UA-camrs (my fault for not learning about my hair type, porosity, density, etc). I also sleep with a cap at night which I never knew was important. I'm now a believer because my hair grew a whole inch in 2 weeks. It's softer, stronger and healthier. I got 2 other people started on this aloe vera oil and they got the same result. For reference, I have fine 3a-3b high porosity hair, I wash my hair 2-3 times a week, my shampoo/conditioner/leave in/deep conditioner are from Garnier whole blends and I also use pink Luster's Moisturizer. I deep condition every time only 1 minute and do the LOC method or I guess the LO method because I don't really use creams because my hair is so fine. My hair does not like castor oil, argan oil, amla, fenugreek, or shea butter so if that's you too, you're not crazy or doing it wrong, just stop using them. Rice water I only leave on my head for 15 minutes as a pre-poo and I have to deep condition after otherwise my hair gets hard so I've done away with that. I soak my aloe vera leaf in water for 30 minutes before use to remove the latex. I want to add that I make more oil than mercy and just leave it out. So far, it's working well and hasn't gone bad for the past 2 weeks. Good luck to everyone on their natural hair journey. Don't give up. It's easier to do these natural treatments than you think.

The stretched hair in the front may be caused by tension damage. Remember our hair has elasticity like a rubberband. The front part is usually looser than the back because we tend to stretch it more especially when we pull our hair back into ponytails and buns.
Another thing to factor is as our hair dries... it shrinks. So imagine what happens to our stretched out strands that are drying in a stretched state.... the same exact thing as a rubberband that dried while stretched out.... the elasticity breaks down.... this is why moisturizing and deep conditioning our hair is important. To bring back the juice.
What I tend to do for the front of my hair now since Im military and wear buns all day... I moisturize the part I pull back daily with water, some sort of hair lotion... then gel it down... I dont go for tge sleek look anymore... it be wavy. For my ends and the part thats held by the hairtie... i drench it with water & hair lotion and either bun it up or let it hang.
In short... I do not allow my hair to get too dry. The outermost layer may dry during the day ... but its ok because I redo it again the next day. Its helped tremendously with my curls.
Lastly, since no one wants to be a greaseball... the key is to find products that will moisturize your hair without having you look like your soul is glowing (coming to america jheri curl reference😂).

For me the middle front section is a loosest texture on my head, the front sides are 4c , the back is 4b and my nape is like 4a. It looks like she just has multi textured hair. Even when I was relaxed this texture always blended easily with my weaves but my hair on the side, when I did a side part needed more work.

You can still get your edges back, I chopped my hair of 3 weeks ago and I can say that my edges are really coming back. The first thing you need to know is to understand your hair type. Then you look at treatment that works for you, note it is not all the treatment you see that works for your hair type. Then you need to free your edges by doing protective styles. You need to be consistent in your treatment and patient like you say. And most importantly you need to eat healthy, eats fruits and good food. That is what have been doing and am still shocked with the way my hair is growing. Also avoid hash chemicals on your hair. Treat your hair like a baby

Thank you for this video. It helped me so much. It's been about a year since I have washed my hair. I merely just parted my hair with my fingers & massaged Sea Breeze on the scalp.
I followed the Sea Breeze routine every 3 mos. as my form of cleaning the scalp. I then put my hair in 4 braids.
My hair is so fricking thick and past my shoulders, so it tangles badly. Your Aloe Vera advice helped my hair to detangle before washing. I mixed a TB of moringa powder & an avocado w/my Aloe Vera in a blender. I kept it in my hair for maybe 20 mins and then used my Aphogee Shampoo--braided hair again in 4 braids. I think by SAT, I might flat iron it.
I lost a lot of hair because I became impatient with detangling hair, but trust me my hair was almost fused together B4 the Aloe Vera.
This remedy will now allow me to wash My hair once a month. I struggle with hair because I haven't gone to a salon since this pandemic. I had 2 strokes in 2015, so although I regained maybe 80-85% of my strength, it's challenging to deal with hair. I no longer use hair relaxers since SEP 2018. I'm now all natural. 😪 I do miss that!
Again, thanks for the Aloe Vera tip!

I think all hair has it's own little characteristics that makes it unique. For me, the backside of my hair always grows longer than any part of my hair. I have cut it many times so it can be even with the rest of my hair, but it just grows back. Your hair is pretty just the way it is sis.

My daughter's hair since infancy has displayed 3 VERY different textures and curl patterns-- nearly straight around the sides & and back (big curls), super curly in the top & middle. Thanks for confirming...& thanks for all of your detailed help in your videos!

Thanks for all the advice with the Aloe Vera. I bought my Aloe Vera from Stockton Aloe 1. It was pretty expensive but i needed a lot of Aloe. They freeze it and quick ship it to you. You don't have to go through any of those steps. You get two jugs of pure aloe. I will be using it for multiple uses including drinking a small amount daily. But i do wanna thank you. I knew about Aloe but for some reason you woke the idea up again and i took it and ran with it if that makes sense. Also you do have older guys like myself watching your videos for ideas. Shalom !

Got my aloe vera today & made my oil & water. I've been natural for about 5 years now but haven't had much growth and at one point had some damage. Trying to get it back to healthy state. Was on the verge of considering a texturizer when I started watching your videos. Thanks for the info! This hair care journey is tough! So many youtubers, too much products, etc to choose from. It can almost make you want to quit. Lol. You've inspired me to continue w/ the struggle. I too have many textures, get very dry & shrink like there's no tmrw. I am gonna chronicle how the aloe does. Love coconut & olive & castor oil. Had all those only needed the aloe. Thanks again!

  • @ShamaShamica

You have sooooo much hair! 😍Not sure of your hair texture but I'm thinking between a 3b/4a? Also, to test the porosity of your hair, take a few strands of clean hair (either a few days after you have freshly washed your hair or just apply some shampoo to the hair you've taken, wash and rinse it) and a bowl of room temperature water. Place the hair in the container of water. If the hair quickly sinks to the bottom, you have high porosity (your hair absorbs water very fast). If it sinks somewhat but stays in the middle, you have normal/medium porosity. And if it stays afloat, you have low porosity (meaning your hair does not absorb water quickly). Nice video!

your hair is indeed 4c but it has a mixture of 4b in there. My hair is starting to look like yours as it grows longer. My texture has changed tremendously over the years, i still cant tell if its because of the products i use or my hormones changing. But i used to have those really really tightly curls... now.. alot of it is looser.

Mercy, what do you do with all those left over chunks? I hope you dont throw them out. There is a way to get more juice. Instead of scooping out the chunks, you should scrape it. That way you have less chunks and more gel coming from it. Less wastage. Although it takes more time, it really is more effective

Hi, could you share a tip or create a video on how you styled your hair and how you applied the aloe Vera when your hair was short. My husband just bought me my 1st wig and I want to get out of this relaxer and go natural. Than you💕I so enjoy your channel😊

Hi Mercy. I just started watching your videos. I'm so jelly of your long and full hair. Q: what products do you use to grow your hair? My hair is just about 4 inches since i had my big chop in 2017 and decided to only go natural. Now i only want to use all natural hair growing products. Thanks.

So see your not the only one who doesn't experience any curl pattern in the front of there head. Oh and I also love the aloe Vera treatments for my hair, and my girls hair and I have seen healthier hair and growth in all of our hair. ❤❤

Yes a detailed wash routine would be nice. I think you might have 4a/4b hair. You might not have low porosity hair as this type doesn’t do well with aloe Vera. Low porosity hair has very tight shingles that need deep conditioning with heat to get the moisture in. Aloe Vera smooths the hair. Low porosity hair is already smooth. So it is advised to just be careful with aloe Vera with low porosity hair. I’m not an expert just stating what I’ve heard on natural gurus hair channels. Obviously aloe Vera is doing wonders for your hair so keep it up! 👍

      @l.patrick3155 4 роки тому +3

I disagree. My low porosity is on supermax lock down (figuratively speaking) & I get excellent results from using aloe vera just as Mercy showed in this video.
I've done the water test for porosity a number of times: last time, my hair just sat on top of the water (not submerged or floating, mind you) for 3 straight days😯! Yes, even I was shooketh🤣🤣.
I've since altered my regimen by added aloe vera & other things; my hair's flourishing... & still low porosity, last time I checked.

Because it seems you don't bother to cover the hair with anything for further absorption into the hair Shaft after applying the Aloe Vera

I have a sensitive scalp, never had dandruff but after a bit of aloe Vera it got itchy. The reason was I didn’t drain the leaf. Some people react to it. Other UA-camrs have videos up on how to drain it, but just a disclaimer.

It is NOT uncommon for the front of the hair to have a looser curl pattern than the rest of the hair. It's very common. One of several reasons is that the front of the hair is stretched and/or manipulated more than other sections of hair. Having a tighter, more course curl pattern in the back of the head is also not uncommon. I've seen it displayed many times on UA-cam.

Hey Mercy, do you rinse it out and if so how long do you let it sit? Btw you have definitely inspired me as well. I am a BC SURVIVOR of 12 years and counting and my sister is 13 years and counting. We both have been natural since day one after our treatments were done. Our hair have been through several levels of hell and back.
I recently chopped mine off 4 years ago after being natural for 9 years because it just broke off. Now 4-5 years later I see it breaking off again. So here I am. I stumbled on your page and been doing it for 3 wks! My hair is already growing! My son even said he can see it. I know I have a ling way to go but I am inspired.
I even got my sister to try you out. Also my son being black and Puerto Rican, he have literally 3 hair types. I wish I could send you a picture of it but just believe me, it's 3! However I'm trying your method on him as well because until now I felt all hope was lost! Thank you!!!

I know this video is old, but we cannot tell you what your porosity is. Look it up on UA-cam. A video that I saw said that you have to take some shed hair from the front, back, and both sides of your hair. Place all four strands in a cup of tap water. And after so many minutes, you have to look at the hair strands to see if they are sitting on top of the water, or have sunk down to the bottom on the glass. I believe normal porosity was halfway on top of the water and half in the water. You can look it up on naturally curly or UA-cam.
They suggest to have clean hair before doing this, not unclean hair.
