Thanks great video I just bought the FS 111RX today, the dealer only had the RX and couldn't tell me what the difference was other than it was a pound heavier and $10 more, the info that Stihl puts out doesn't tell you much about anything other than the basic features, after seeing this video I think I still would have bought the RX, thanks again and I'll be sure to share this with my local dealer.......
That brush knife is awesome! I have one that I occasionally use on my 10+ year old FS90R, and it will cut right through thick overgrown areas, even with small weed trees. I've cut through small trees thicker than my thumb, and it did not care. I even used it to cut small branches off of a tree, that were not what this knife was intended for, and it did an excellent job. As for the trimmer itself. The FS90R has long been replaced, and mine is over a decade old. The only reason I'm looking to replace it is because it does not have the anti-vibration system on it, and for the rest of this year, I have 2 properties that are hours apart. Just the excuse I needed to upgrade. If what your cutting is wearing your string down too fast, put one of theses blades on it, and it will disappear the second you touch it.
This was very informative. Thank you ! I have both models. Had the FS111RX for a few years now and it's a mean little machine that gets the job done and more. I just recently got the FS111r and the reason I went with this one is because I was told I could run a blade through this one. I now have two weed trimmers and one with the versatility to run a blade for clean up jobs for heavier brush and sticks. The FS111 power head (engine) is a great choice for professionals.
Switch the solid drive shaft into the Rx..then dog thee ol' blade on it. But Yuh starting to gain weight on the Rx and I spose that defeats the whole object. Like the other guy said, we don't get the Rx version in England. Your right about any weight saved Josh. Lugging those things about all day can make your arms wanna vacate to another body.
I happened to notice the 1 gallon oil on the left side of your shelve at the counter. Is that the Platinum bar and chain or the Ultra 2 cycle oil? Looks like by the label it’s the 2 cycle. If so do u know if Stihl is still making the gallons and if it can be ordered from most any dealer. I run the Performance 2 cycle oil and I know when I do go into my nearest dealer the have the the 2 different bottle amount, but no gallons. I just wasn’t sure if they were still made and or available to purchase any more. I believe the Performance orange bottle for 1 gallon which makes 50 gallons total was like around $35. So u can’t beat it.
very interesting. I rarely use brush blades on my "old" 110R, but I have always wondered if the clutch systems is more "beefy" on the higher end stihl machines designed for brush blades? Is the clutch system the same part number between these two variants of the 111?
You want to make a light trimmer take the gear box drive shaft and handle from a RX and put it on a fs94r now you got a light trimmer Stihl doesn't think so because I thought of it first 💪💪💪 take care Josh
That a boy it definitely reduces the way to bed we’ve done that for a few of our commercial cutters. I’ve also found that if you put a few helium balloons on them it makes them feel lighter ha ha.

What blade are you planning on running?
@@Carlsmower A Stihl Tri-blade brush cutter.
If I buy a new trimmer, probably the 111 or the 131. If my dealer has a 111rx I’ll get it, if not then I’ll get the regular 111r or the 131r
I just noticed I had the fs111rx and the 111r so I came across this to know the difference good machines by the way, good video
Glad we could help, Don!
Can you make a chart on all of these models in terms of power, weight and purpose?
So many variants.
I like the way you explain, Josh! Thanks from Germany, Armin
I can't find anywhere what PolyCut models can be used on the 111RX. Are there older models that still use the white blades that will fit it?
Could I put the r drive shaft on the rx
X versions not available in the UK always wondered what the difference was now thanks to you I know
I have a stihl fs111-z with the bike handles. What is the difference? Thanks.
I was at a pawn shop and saw a 111RX with what looked like an edger kit on it. Does Stihl sell such a thing?

Thank you. I’ve been trying to figure it out. If they explain it in the catalog, I missed it.
Awesome explanation of models! Thank You!
Happy to break it down

Yes it is
@@Carlsmower appreciate the info

Just picked up a 111RX to replace my old Echo. I am 100% disappointed, it doesn't have the same power even though it's 10 cc larger.
How that doesn’t make sense?! Should’ve just got the 131
Hey josh can you please upload a review of the bike handle FS111 I only recently invested in one they are a great machine 👍
I will do my best. Thanks and enjoy the machine
Remember the 85rx😁
Harry with the throwback. That was a pretty awesome machine. It definitely wasn’t scared to make a noise was it.
😂😂
I still have a fs85r. One machine that does it all.
@@jeffshearer5125 great trimmer maybe the best ever made
I have a FS 85X. I'm not sure how old it is, I've had it since about 2006.
