Jon Peters makes the best blanket chest on YT.
    Nice work.
    Loved the music.
    Spring closure is awesome upgrade.
    The clear top...perfect.

Great result. I create my own also by inspiration from Jon peteres channel. I modified a top a little bit to make it more user friendly for my 5 years old daughter. Keep up great work.

Nice job , Jon Peters does great work and you did a great job replicating his genius. Also is that Tommy Silva making an appearance in the video during paint up...lol

Jody - Looks great! It looks like you used the 1-1/8" x 5/8" base cap for trimming the 3 panels - just as Jon Peters specifies in his plans. Can you tell me where you sourced that molding? I'm having a hard time finding any base cap that's smaller than 1-3/8" x 11/16". Thank you.

Did you get piano hinge and spring supports from a hardware store? I made one and am at the step of attaching the lid and just realized I got the wrong hinges.

that top is awesome!! did you only use glue and clamps? I have heard they do that in japanese joinery but am dubious?? and what kind of stain? Great work man. I've been a carpenter/handyman for years and am just now getting into "fine woodworking"...so I'm still a learner! Good job!

Wonderful build but the intro music while you were talking was very off putting.

In the midst of building the same chest. Did you glue and screw the side face frames when you attached them? In Jon Peters video he only glued and screwed the front face frame. I was curious why he didn't do it to the side face frames. Thanks for your attention.

J Stlriverman I screwed and glued the sides as well. All the screw holes are covered by the legs or other trim. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for your reply!!!! I plan on doing the same. Everything is progressing quite well except for one mishap today. Either I over torqued my pocket hole screw or the wood I was screwing into was "weak". I was putting together the front face frame and a corner split. I had to recut a lower section. This is my first foray into woodworking and I love it. Thanking the "you tube gods" for all the help available.

Did you mortise for the continuous hinge

Bigg Spliff I did not, although I probably should have. I was a little impatient and wanted to get the lid on. Not doing a mortises did allow me to put some soft pads in the gap to not have the wood hitting when you close the lid.

Jody's Woodworking thank for letting me know! Need your advice I mortise some hinges for my daughter chest, but screwed up the mortise, made it too deep or wide. What’s the best to correct that?

Love the work, did this box myself for my grand daughter and make a few tweaks myself. Please review your videos before posting to be sure your voice is audible over the annoying music.

I could not agree more about the review of the videos and voice vs. audible comments. I made it two minutes in and stopped the video because of the presentation and sound issues.

gave it a thumbs up although I didn't hear a word of that intro, due to my only hearing out of one ear. I think that you need to tone down the music. nice build though.

turn off that music and this would be great. why does eveyone think they need music, its distracting. by the way, great job, i'm about done with mine as a toy box using Jon's plans but i'm going to follow your thinking on the top. thanks. nice

Since when do we use our table saw as a glue-up assembly table? Also...lose the music. It's annoying.

Are you implying that you use your take saw as an assembly table? If that's what you got then it works.

Please, please, please get rid of the background music. It's way too loud/distracting, and not needed.
