This blanket chest is the fourth dimensional lumber piece for my dimensional lumber furniture set. My wife and I went back and forth on different sizes for the chest for a few days and finally settled on something similar in size to a sitting bench. I even contemplated upholstering the lid or finding a cushion to leave on top but ended up not going that route. I’ve made several tongue and groove projects in the past but this will be my first tongue and groove blanket chest. And I like the size of this one the most.

I really enjoyed that video. You are a great influence to the woodworking community. Thank you for the great projects you show us. My wife comes into the shop the other day as I squeezed the last clamp and asked what I was doing "I'm waiting for the glue to dry before the next step." She got this blank look, crossed her arms, leaned back and pretended to eat an apple, blankly staring at my project.

Seriously, you are providing a great service. The Dimensional Lumber projects are excellent. I have been pointing every new woodworker I know towards them. I think these are good for any level of WW who just want to build great projects.

When making verticle cuts with a circular saw, I like to make down cuts, rather than up cuts. If you cut upwards the offcut will jam the saw as the cut closes up under it's weight. Jay knows this, when he performed a verticle cut on the ply sheet, he grabbed the offcut to take the weight. It's just safer to cut down though, because the cut opens up, instead of closing. I liked the video.

There is so much I like about this video. First... Great project. Looks like that domino is coming in handy. I also like that you used dimensional lumber. I know some people have become "wood snobs" and think pine is not worthy of such a nice project. And the video editing... Love it! I especially like the three Jays doing the promo for Leesa. And... The Jay sanding watching the Jay finishing. That room is coming together nicely and all with dimensional lumber. All great projects. And as always... Enjoy your videos. I'm sure I've said it before... But you were my FIRST woodworking youtuber. You have come a long way but I like that you haven't really changed. Still love your projects... Videos and humor.

hey Jay I'm a big fan of your videos and have been for several years. I just stumbled onto this video and I am very impressed as to how far you have come. I too enjoy building ( when I have the opportunity to do so) and I very much want to do as you did here and build my projects without metal fasteners. I despise pocket holes and visible screws!!! I know they all have there place. I look forward to your future projects. Keep up the good work.

Love the cheap lumber and the way you basically make it all quartersawn by getting rid of the defects. Great work. You are definitely making me yearn for a domino; that thing saves time and the floating tenons are practically as strong as regular tenons; nice trade off in time to money saving ratio.
The angled legs are sweet BTW. Love your channel, Jay! Oh and nice new jointer; saw that you snuk that in here. Maybe it was around earlier but it's the first I noticed it.

I swear these get better and better every time! Such slick editing and a gorgeous end product, I love how you only use the quarter-sawn stock :)
