I also read in a modern drummer 🥁 June 1987 in a interview with John jr Robinson he said he used the emu sp12 for some of the drums sounds on the BAD ALBUM 💿

6:26 There were several minutes of his solo being unused for the final cut, some however made it to the music video version which had a completely different melody compared to the album cut.

I prefer the solo onthe video clip than the track

The end sound feature crossfaded from two separate performance. The first part of the solo can her heard here: ua-cam.com/video/FH_GWTKOPFM/v-deo.html 2:54

I’m a guitarist but I’m getting into the classic synths. I was born in 1980, I have a good reference for what was around in the 80s and 90s. I can’t believe something like the Sinclavier was possible back then. It’s the synth version of landing on the moon.

It really felt like that at the time too, the sounds they made were so different from what had gone before.

I got to use a synclavier quite by accident. This was around the late 80s. A studio I was renting time in one had one of the synths. It was like something from another planet to us. We really couldn't figure out how to fully use it and wasn't going to use expensive studio time to do that. Still, we got some pretty cool sounds out of it that ended up on one of the songs. Music tech was moving forward so fast back then! It was a very exciting time.

And also Greg Phillinganes said the minimoog was used on man in mirror as the synth bass 👍🏾

The music BAD the bass of the track according to the Synclavier programmer at the time, around 5 samples of different timbres were used in overlapping layers to create this iconic bassline sound.

Cool! It's unclear who played it. Greg Phillinganes? Chris Currell? Someone else?

I hear some upright bass in there too.

Great Video 👍 I’m a bit skeptical about the MKS Bass on Man in the Mirror. May i ask where did you get the Information from? Thank you

Thank you. I can’t remember exactly. Just looking around in forums now, it seems that some people say the MKS and some say the Minimoog.
