Yes I was yelling! But you heard wrong, I was saying drop the current alien betta down, put the new one on top. lol all good. Cool tank 😊 love any betta setup 🫶🇦🇺❤️
@@FishShopMattAHH yes the first tank I copied from you 🤦😅 Agreed he would look amazing in there. This tank needs a mahachaiensis or an imbelis. Come on iv nagged enough now 😂
Depends on the tank I don't mind duck weed in wild nature style tanks but I've got rid of most of the duckweed in this tank. Duckweed removal is always a marathon not a sprint, there will always be one leaf hidden somewhere.
Marathon is right. I've been removing duckweed religiously ever since I saw a couple of leaves in one particular tank months ago, and I think I may have won the battle. 🤣
@@FishShopMattbest way I’ve found is to dip a hand brush sideways below the duckweed and lift the brush, the duckweed sticks rather than being dispersed in the tank.
Newbie here was searching for aquarium plants found your other post then I searched for a tank Betta fish up popped your channel. I’m so pleased the algorithm brought me here. I’m in the UK and I need things a bit simple. I’ve kept tropical fish before in a large tank but have a small house now so smaller tanks and I’ve never done a tank with plants. Thank you Matt.
Hi Matt, I did not know you like 3D printing, I have been 3D printing for more than 5 years now, and it is nice to see someone who likes the same hobbies I enjoy, keep up the good work, and cheers from Costa Rica!
I have just got into the aquarium hobby and your videos has helped me a lot. Your vibe makes the content so much better and easier to follow, it's as if I am having a "spill-the-tea" session with a friend 😂!
That is SUCH a gorgeous betta! I'd absolutely love to find one like that in a fish store, but all the ones around me always get the same color variations.
Idk why the whole time up until you went upstairs I was 100% convinced we were talking about a piece lilly, I was sittin here like that is gonna have to be one tall ass mature f’n peace lilly to keep its leaves out the water but be planted so deep & not take up the whole tank 😅😂 when I knew damn and good well I saw the WATER lilly in the thumbnail & in the beginning shots 🤦🏻♂️🤣 I’m such an idiot sometimes lolol but regardless this take turned out awesome Matt!! Oh my goodness that betta tho he’s incredible 😍 I love how dark his blue is that’s so hard to find on that variety. Sometimes simple tanks are truly the best tanks!!
Oh & I’m soooo excited to hear about the Habistacks, I can’t wait to rescape my (brand new just scaped) 14G cube that I literally finished a week ago 😂 I just couldn’t wait any longer lol but I don’t think I really like the layout now anyways so it’s all good!
I just have to say this, right at the beginning of this video ... I really do love how Matt is embracing his 'Austin Powers' side again, in the sense that he too likes to live dangerously. Last video it was the one-blob-superglued piece of rock and log, that he was happily shaking around, above a very damageable floor lol, and in this video, he is happily, all-but juggling that glass fish tank lol as he speaks 🤣😂🤣 LOVE IT ! ... makes me giggle (but please don't take too many risks lol )
Awesome video, as usual! I have a lily in a tank that threw up a ton of leaves to the surface then it all died back to the bulb...just a few little leaves currently. I hope it comes back like yours did!
I bought a very similar blue & white Betta from my local Maidenhead Aquatics. Within 2 months he was totally blue. I still adored him but the white & blue was more attractive.
Hi Matt, Loving the simple aquascape. Bing is beautiful! It looks like Bing, Gandalf and Sara Man love their new home. Thanks for another fun video. Gina
Great news on Habistacks, I have a tall Cleair tank and as soon as those are available it's a good excuse to give the tank a makeover. Lovely tank Matt, the little Betta should be very happy in there
Oh yeah.... PFCOA! PINK FLAMINGO CUP OF ACLIMATIZATION! 😂❤ I love the Lilly, mine were not fresh from .y box store, so I'm going to order a few for my big tank... I also love snails, so many people panic when they see snail in their tanks. We buy them because we like them, lol. We'll done Matt! Don't ever lose the cup! Hahaha, I love the names. That is one gorgeous Beta too.
Love elderly stone! I've used some to make a dolmen in my Superfish Scaper 90. The dolmen is not covered in substrate, just piled it up like the dolmen you might encounter in the Dutch province well known for these structures and put epiphytes and moss on it. My anubias pinto is doing amazing!
@@FishShopMatt Just got one to fill up an order past the free shipping amount and never regretted it. I had come to understand these tend to be a bit finicky, but this one's doing absolutely great. I planted it on the rocks just before the dry start phase of the tank. So it got to soak up a lot of CO2 while settling in.
I love this setup. It looks really beautiful. I've never thought about having a lily before now I've seen it I am convinced 👍. Looking forward to more additions to Betta tower in the future ❤
A very lovely scape, but definitely the star of the show is little Bing. Its also the first I have heard of white wizard snails and after having a quick look at the info on them, I am going to get my boss to bring them in to our shop. I so appreciate your videos.
26:03 - That is already a beautiful set up! I love the idea of having the fertile soil capped by stone with gravel all around and plants growing from the gaps in-between. EDIT - Bing, Gandalf (which is also the name of the White Oak in my front yard), and Saruman all look WONDERFUL in that tank! Well done, envious of what you have been able to build here!
So much for keeping the duckweed out of the new tank. Duckweed always finds a way. 😂 I have successfully gotten rid of the duckweed in all my tanks except for my biggest tank. It takes perseverance, patience, a good net and a pair of tweezers. Then you have to attack the duckweed every day for a week or two.
Since you did a green and red side by side tank, it would be a nice idea making a tank all green at the top kinda look like a canopy, then goes on with black water tank at the bottom with driftwood looking like the roots of the top tank. If that makes sense.😅
I was just emptying a 30ltr cube to make make space for my 60 ltr that currently sits underneath it, when this popped up lol. I was gonna move the 60 ltr with some water in, but now .... maybe not. Advice followed dear. Left it as I need to catch all the baby shrimp out... hubby thinks I'm mad 😂
Well Matt I had a little bit of daubs at the beginning of the video how that tank going to turn up. But to be honest you created a great little world in a glass cube. Betta? Absolutely magnificent!!!! Of course Gandalf and Saruman too .😂
This made me remove the duckweed from my tank which has not long appeared and was annoying me. I had to get rid of all my other floating plants though. My tank looks so much brighter now lol. As for the soil I use Tropica and it can take a number of weeks before it stops leaching ammonia. I tend to keep it outside in the garden in a plastic container doing daily water changes. Raising the Kh levels speeds the process up. My water is super soft so I use bicarbonate soda to raise the Kh. Maybe a well established filter would deal with the ammonia along with water changes but I wasn’t taking the risk
Great tank. I love how chill you are, you are a joy to watch in your videos! I don't have a tank right now, but I plan on buying a Habistax for when I do:) What color flower does the lily have?
Tip on putting and taking apart those types of racks, I have a couple very similar, use a block of wood and a hammer. Wood on the bar and tap it in/out. Saved bruising my hand, 😂
Beautiful set up, I'm coming away from the driftwood tanks and liking just the rocks and plants. Mind you the last tank i set up a few months ago I'm really not happy with, but living with it😂
Make a cone in the substrate, trim the roots by 1/3, open the roots out and settle the lily down on the substrate cone. By piling in the roots, they are tangled and not optimal for replant. Also trim the largest leaves. The lily will hurry to put out new roots and leaves.
Yeah I trimmed a fair amount of the roots off and also a fair amount stayed in the original tank. If I had left all the leaves on there would have been no room for the fish hahaha
You could have just lifted it off without draining 😃 p.s I have the same 3d printer by the looks of it. Bambu with the AMS. Sweet. I'm not convinced about them shelves hold the weight they say they can tbh. I ended up going for scaffolding shelves, nice looking though and very smart in black.
Love this scape... I think I will do something similar for my new orange rili shrimp! Keep tge videos coming. My only complaint is that we didn't get to see your pups in this video. 🐾
@FishShopMatt , I'm not sure if you've already covered this question but i was curious to know why after you've set up the tank that you leave it for 7-10 days? Addition question, I would have assumed the beneficial bacteria that you added would die off without anything to feed on? Or is that wrong...? Thank you in advance. 🐚
Welcome Sir Bing! As a fellow father as soon as you said bing...I knew instantly 🤣🤣 Very simple very nice! (I dare you not to say that in a Borat accent)
I use tweezers to remove duck weed, works really well, use it like a scoop. I can't take any credit for that as I pinched it off someone else but I can't remember who!
Don't be afraid to trim both the roots and the leaves back. It's already going to be shocked because of the move. But it won't hurt the plant to trim it back. 😊
I didn't include it in the video but in one of the time lapse bits I trimmed the roots and a few of the leaves. I probably wouldn't have fitted it all in otherwise hahaha.
I really have to get started on that new tank that's gathering dust. The local pet store often has gorgeous male bettas available. Edit: and a quick question. would it be ok to have some of those tiny corydoras in the tank with a betta?
Matt, what do you suggest for tops on your tanks? I’ve seen tanks have glass tops suspended on clips but glass is a bit pricey so looking for options. Thanks!
Yes I was yelling! But you heard wrong, I was saying drop the current alien betta down, put the new one on top. lol all good. Cool tank 😊 love any betta setup 🫶🇦🇺❤️
I was shouting the same lol 😂
The snails compliment the colour of the Betta
Bing is beautiful! He looks like one of those old fashioned white and blue china plates 😍😍
I think so too! I nearly put him in my old blue bowls aquarium I have.
@@FishShopMattAHH yes the first tank I copied from you 🤦😅

You can do it! Everyone needs a betta tower!
I have 30 gallon for my rare purple half moon Betta I got really lucky finding a rare purple betta.
For someone who doesn't want duckweed in his tank, there was a lot of duckweed traveling along.

A lovely simple build, showing that you don’t need a load of hard scape to create something beautiful.
Betta looks so cool. It's making me want to change my 60 litre betta tank into two 30 litre tanks so I can buy a second betta!
Yeah it's a tough decision but I would go with loads of small tanks rather than one big now hahaha
I don't usually have much time for snails but the white wizards are great.
They're super cool, I'm a big fan now!
Another excellent video Matt 👏
